Dan Dempsey's Garage Kinsale

Long overdue. I have been meaning to write this review for the past 3 years! My sister and I (seniors) were visiting Ireland from Boston, Massachusetts. We rented a car and worked our way down from Dublin to Kinsale. As we were pulling out of Kinsale (beautiful town!) about to continue on to the birthplace of my grandmother, Drimoleague, a flat tire notification came on. I pulled into a gas station and accidentally put the gear into a locked position and couldn't get the car to move. At a total loss, I was directed across the street to Dan Dempsey's Garage where I encountered a young man who was so lovely! He went right across the street and was able to get the car in gear and over to the garage. There was an older gentleman (not old-just older than the young man) at the garage. He checked out my tire and had to order a new one which he didn't have on hand but went and picked up elsewhere. He actually apologized that the tire couldn't be saved and a new one had to be purchased. The price was very reasonable and was covered by my rental insurance. He let me know that all the air pressure valve covers on the tires had not been screwed on tight which could be dangerous and said I should let the rental company know they sent out a car like that (which I did.) Noticing, fixing, and caring about details like that says a lot about how this garage operates. Long story short, these two guys were both so friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They were able to handle this on the fly in a quick and efficient manner. This is where I would take my car if I lived in the area. Thanks, guys!

5 star service. Fixed a flat tyre in 3 mins. I was under pressure to collect children and a young man was very understanding and got it done in minutes for me. Huge thanks. Life saver.

I had an absolutely terrible experience at this garage, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the staff had no interest in providing any kind of customer service or support. They were outright rude and dismissive, treating us as though we were an inconvenience rather than customers seeking help. What makes this situation even worse is that we were in an emergency, and they completely refused to assist us. Our car was experiencing serious issues, and we explained that we were in a vulnerable situation, but they showed no empathy or willingness to help. Instead, they turned us away without offering any solutions or even recommending alternatives. By refusing to repair our vehicle, they put us in a potentially dangerous situation. It felt like they had no regard for our safety or well-being, which is deeply concerning for any business, let alone one that deals with critical services like car repairs. The lack of professionalism and basic decency here is shocking. They seem to dislike interacting with strangers and go out of their way to make you feel unwelcome. I can’t imagine how they stay in business with this kind of attitude. Save yourself the frustration and risk—avoid this garage at all costs. There are plenty of other places where you’ll find helpful, courteous professionals who actually care about their customers.

Terrible experience I do not recommend going to this place the guy that works there is so disrespectful and so immature the moment I came he just closed the door on me and didn't even say anything really bad guy.

An unpleasant mechanic who could only say 'Full' to let us know he didn't want to help us, for a problem solved in 7 minutes at another mechanic's, for which we had to drive for 1 hour with a faulty car. I really wouldn't recommend it.

Horrible experience Car broke down near his garage so I asked if this is a garage and the person who was there rudely said no and you are trespassing. when you have a huge board outside as garage people are going to come. Would not recommend the person is rude. And not at all helping or accommodating.
