Where to Stay in Bangkok (Updated 2025)

"I stayed at this long-running Khao San Road institution with 24-hour reception and always-available rooms; the rooftop bar and pool get packed with travelers, facilities have been upgraded and rooms are cleaned often, and some rooms even include a fridge and hairdryer with great water pressure." - Matthew Kepnes

The 8 Best Hostels in Bangkok (Updated 2025)

"I view D&D Inn as a longstanding Khao San Road institution that's practical for last-minute arrivals — reception is open 24 hours and there are almost always rooms available. The place has a rooftop bar and pool that get packed with travelers, and recent upgrades mean rooms are cleaned often; some rooms include fridges and hairdryers, the water pressure is great, the beds are soft, and many rooms feature attractive wood furnishings and a rooftop patio for relaxing and socializing." - Matthew Kepnes

The 7 Best Hotels in Bangkok (Updated 2025)

"An institution on Khao San Road, this hotel is perfect for last-minute plans since there are almost always rooms and the reception is open 24 hours; the recently upgraded rooms are done in a modern Thai style with wooden interiors and tiled floors and include flatscreen TVs, air conditioning, a mini fridge, and en-suite bathrooms with great shower pressure (note not all rooms have windows). There’s a bar downstairs and a rooftop pool with its own bar that gets packed with travelers, breakfast is available across the street at the Greens and Cheese restaurant, and while it’s a great spot for a private room in the heart of Khao San Road, it’s not the quietest place because the street parties all night." - Matthew Kepnes

It's loud in the night. If you enjoy a nightlife it's a good place to visit. Khao San can be overwhelming though, and if it's your first visit to Bangkok it can be either one of the best or worst experiences, depending on what you expect. The hotel itself is alright. There is a nice view on the roof, and you can enjoy the swimming pool too.

I’ve stayed at this hotel several times—it’s great value for what it offers. Located right on Khao San Road, it’s within walking distance to many restaurants, the Grand Palace, and Wat Pho. Even though it's on one of the loudest streets in Bangkok, the rooms are surprisingly quiet—trust me, you’ll get a great night’s sleep. The beds are comfortable, the shower is good, and the rooftop has a pool and a nice atmosphere to enjoy with your family.

Good location. Shower pressure was great, as was the rooftop pool. Rooms were small but alright. Sheets had stains on them, yuck, our room got cleaned everyday except they never swept or cleaned the floors in anyway.

Absolutely loved the hotel. We stayed here for 3nights right at khaosan. The loud environment outside didnt get to our rooms at all. The rooftop swimming pool was great, it has a great night view of the grand palace. Would definitely visit here again.

Prime location on Khao San Road and a great rooftop pool (never crowded, with bar and food). Staff were very engaged; check‑in/out smooth. Simple but clean enough room; daily housekeeping with 2 bottles of water. AC has to run nonstop; Wi‑Fi good (captive portal); bathroom with hot water and decent pressure. Four fast elevators. Important: it’s extremely loud — even a courtyard room didn’t help much — so earplugs are essential. Great value if you want the action; not ideal for light sleepers.

We stayed at the D&D Inn on Khao San Road as a family, and the experience was very mixed. Our family room faced directly onto the street, where nightclubs battle it out in a real war of decibels. It was impossible to sleep for two nights, even with earplugs. The front desk staff showed little understanding of our difficulties. In the end, we had to switch to a triple room (even though there are four of us), which was smaller, with no discount, and we even had to pay an extra fee. The result: three people in one large bed and very little comfort. Other negative points: no towel rack, no storage space in the room. It felt like the bare minimum of service, if not neglect. I’m giving 3 stars, with one of them solely for the bartender on the 7th floor, who was very friendly and professional – a real ray of sunshine in an otherwise disappointing stay.

Great value for money! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and offered all the essential amenities. What stood out most was the prime location—close to everything we needed, including restaurants, shops, and public transport. Perfect for both business and leisure stays. Highly recommend!

Good quality rooms, quite modern. Not much to say about the service, never seen staff, apart from the roof top bar. Location is a tricky one, brilliant that's in the middle of Khao San road, but you get pestered to death by touts when coming and going. It bothered me so much, I changed hotel. Oh, book on an app like Agoda, because if you just turn up, it'll cost you twice as much.
