Dandelion Como Suites & Park (Villa Guardia, Lake Como) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A few miles inland from the city of Como is a villa whose low-key, back-to-nature charm serves as a worthy alternative to the opulence of the lakeside grand hotels. Dandelion Como Suites & Park is a classic 15th-century agricultural estate — and later a holiday escape for a Milanese family — that’s been transformed into a 21st-century boutique hotel without sacrificing any of its historical atmosphere or its rural authenticity." - Tablet Hotels

Dandelion Como Suites is an absolute gem! Beautifully designed, small-scale, and wonderfully peaceful. The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of fresh and tasty options. We loved relaxing by the pool on the comfortable sun loungers, surrounded by stunning scenery. The staff were highly professional and made us feel truly welcome. The location is perfect, easy to reach both Milan and Como, yet tucked away enough to feel like a serene escape. Honestly, part of me doesn’t even want to tell anyone about this place… it’s too good to share!

This place is super cute and great so long as you don’t like air conditioning. ||When we checked in, we explicitly asked does this hotel have air-conditioning. The answer was yes. The truth is no. They said that the rooms are cold through coils in the floor because “Europeans don’t like air blowing on them.”||We were told that our room would eventually cool down… Spoiler alert… it did not. ||We were given a fan to cool our room down that didn’t really work. ||We were also told that the restaurant was so full that they couldn’t accommodate us even though there were literally four tables in the restaurant that were occupied out of a 30 table restaurant. ||Very disappointing. Our worst stay of our trip.

Overpriced and underdelivering||||Let me start by saying this: I have spent nights in all sorts of old farmhouses, from lovingly restored estates to crumbling structures with more character than comfort. I appreciate the quirks that come with age. This is not about expecting perfection. But when a property charges a premium, it must deliver more than nostalgia and excuses. At Dandelion Como, the disconnect between price and reality is impossible to ignore.||||No air conditioning, no heating, no solution||The air conditioning was not working. When asked, the staff explained that it was due to “strange weather.” That is not a solution. The heater also did not work. Regardless of the season, a room should offer a functional temperature control system. This is basic, not optional.||||Check-in: the art of being ignored||There was no greeting, no smile, no effort to make us feel welcome. The staff behaved more like indifferent landlords than hosts. If hospitality is meant to create a sense of arrival, this place missed the memo entirely.||||The room: old farmhouse, yes — but still filthy||We understand it is a farmhouse conversion. That does not mean the floor should be so dirty that your feet turn black after ten minutes without slippers. Insects were everywhere. The charm of old architecture vanishes quickly when basic cleanliness is neglected.||||Bathroom: no space for anything||There was no shelf, ledge, or usable surface to place a toothbrush or any personal items. The bathroom was not minimalist. It was simply impractical.||||Three guests, one towel||We were three people. We received one towel. That alone speaks volumes.||||Noise: an echo chamber with creaky floors||It is an old building, but the noise levels were astonishing. We heard every step, every piece of furniture being dragged above us, every late-night conversation. This is not inevitable in older buildings. It is the result of ignoring soundproofing entirely.||||The bed: bad design meets cheap materials||The mattress was so soft it collapsed near the edge. You felt like you might roll off just by turning over. The pillows were oddly thick and round, made from hard foam, almost engineered to cause neck pain.||||Curtains that surrender at dawn||The curtains did not block light at all. At sunrise, the room was instantly bright. Sleep ended then, like it or not.||||Gravel courtyard: a nightly concert of crunching wheels||The courtyard is covered in gravel. That might sound charming until you try to sleep. Every suitcase wheel and footstep echoes directly into the rooms. When new guests arrive at night, you hear it all. I am not a light sleeper. I still woke up.||||Pool: a surprise you learn at check-in||The pool, prominently featured on the website, was not working. This small fact is only revealed once you arrive. At that point, there is little you can do but feel misled.||||Final verdict: youth hostel atmosphere at luxury hotel prices||||Dandelion Como delivers a mismatched experience. If you enjoy being ignored, waking to sunrise at 5 am, and falling out of bed after sharing a single towel, this is your place. Otherwise, look elsewhere. What they charge and what they offer have absolutely nothing in common.

Wish I could give more than 5 stars! Charming, elegant, relaxing, welcoming, unique, delicious! Can’t say enough about how much we are enjoying this oasis! The host is so accommodating! Every detail is carefully curated for comfort but nothing is pretentious! A gracious 16th century farmhouse with every modern luxury. I highly recommend!

Great place to stay, beautiful boutique hotel with eye for detail and the guests! Will certainly book again in the future when looking for a place to stay near Como.

Stayed here one night, a really charming place, big room, beautiful surroundings, cosy restaurant, all the personal were really polite, the breakfast lady was super polite. The only thing which was missing, was the ’green stuff’ at breakfast. We had also our small dog with us and he was allowed to go everywhere:)

A very special place to stay; beautifully renovated Villa outside Coma but easy visiting distance & very convenient off the main strada. English speaking staff, very efficient and welcoming, especially considering we visited at end of season. But mainly, the food. My goodness, the restaurant served the most delicious meal and waiter was great too. Highly recommend.

I had a great experience staying at this hotel. I remember the first morning when I opened the shutters and saw the landscaping and sun, I thought this must be heaven. The hotel is perfect for someone who wants to enjoy nature, peace and quiet, and a few days in the countryside. The hotel design is lovely and elegant. The property is on a large lot so you can really enjoy the landscape and gardens. The restaurants have a beautiful ambiance. That said, this hotel made sense for me because I didn’t want to stay in the city center and I rented a car. It may not be the best fit for someone who doesn’t have a car because it’s a 20 min drive to Como. Nonetheless, I recommend it!
