For this trip to Taipei, we chose to stay at Dandy Hotel - Tianjin due to its proximity to Zhongshan MRT station, knowing we could easily get to most places in Taipei via the MRT. What we got was so much more.||First, the front desk staff was great, day and night. They provided recommendations on restaurants, made reservations, gave directions, received our packages, arranged transportation. We were there for nine days, and we utilized their services every day. We spoke Chinese but our son and daughter-in-law did not, and the front desk was able to communicate effectively in both Chinese and English. They were always friendly, cheerful, helpful. I even asked one of them to help me with the settings on the dryer. They were there to help, always.||Our room was well-designed. The bed was comfortable. There was a small refrigerator, a rack for hanging jackets. Housekeeping always replenishes our bottled water (and you can always get more from the front desk). Bathroom had a large counter so it was very easy to layout our toiletries. We asked for an extra floor mat for the bathroom on our first night, and housekeeping made sure we had two floor mats for all subsequent days. There was a nice balcony that opened up to the street so we were able to catch some fresh air at anytime. The neighborhood is busy, but during sleeping hours there is not much noise, plus there is sufficient noise isolation. When the curtains are closed, there is no light leaking in. There were plenty of outlets. There was also a very large desktop area. Overall, the room was very comfortable to stay in.||Having the option of eating breakfast at the hotel is really nice. The city has a lot of breakfast options, including within short walking distance, but being able to eat at the hotel before setting off for the day is really nice. There were things that stayed the same every day, but there were also some things that changed. Out of the nine days, I ate at the hotel 8 times. I was able to get the variety of foods I wanted. The staff at breakfast were so friendly as well. They were there to assist with ensuring the area was clean, food items were replenished, and they always offered assistance when I needed help bringing coffee or tea up to our room.||After breakfast hours, the area becomes just a general area to sit/eat in. For a couple of nights we bought takeout from nearby restaurants and ate in the common area. Sometimes, we just wanted to rest and debrief after spending the day out and about. It was nice to be able to do that in the common area rather than in our room.||Aside from being close to the MRT station, the hotel is close to a large department store (with a food court), Taipei underground shopping street, plenty of restaurants just one to two minutes away, bakeries, markets, convenient stores, foot massage places, and bubble tea places. For those who are fond of walking, it's about a 15 minute walk to NingXia night market.||Overall, I found Dandy Hotel - Tianjin to be a great place to stay at for visiting Taipei.
