D'Angelo Italian Market

My go to spot to grab an amazing sandwich, and a chicken pot pie. I was once addicted to the prosciutto bread and had to have it weekly. All the employees are solid and the owner is a gem. One of my favorite places in the whole world.

Wish I could give 10 stars! Highly reccomend a visit This place is as good as a market / deli as they come! Great sandwhiches, great sides and even better vibes and staff. Pizza is great too!!

*Best spot to have lunch in Princeton* They have selections for everyone, even the pickiest of eaters. I brought my family in today and I had the pastrami, wife had the gnocchi, son had pizza, daughter had penne and we all had dessert! Say hello to Joey's Angels when you're checking out!

What an amazing lunch! We loved everything about this little market, deli, and pizzeria! Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful…we felt so welcome! We got a wrap, pizza, cannoli, assorted cookies, and focaccia. So delicious! The pizza was a special surprise: the absolute best sauce I’ve had in ages. We will be back next time we’re in town!

Their sandwiches are outstanding! I haven't tried their pizza, deserts, or shopped for groceries yet, but I had the D'Angelo Signature and it hit every box. It was made fresh and prepared quickly. They offer so many groceries and have a great ambiance. If you need any Italian food for lunch, this is the place to be.

The food and the employees are fantastic! There are cheap options and the overall setting is great. Great for quick snack stops or full meals.

Phenomenal environment!! The staff came around and asked my team and I how the food was, and were very pleased to hear how much we enjoyed it. All the pastas, sandwiches, drinks, pastries, etc. were all delicious. Highly recommend this spot for anyone in the Princeton area!!

This place is located near one of the parking garages on the SW corner of Spring St and S Tulane St, North of the campus. I posted a picture of the menu cover (see photo: www.dangelomarket.com) which has the website with a good listing of the menu. Although we got a slice with ziti on it and I do not see it on the menu. The sauce was a little sweet which was different. The slices cost $3.50 - $4.50. The spinach, egg, Asiago sandwich was pretty good. I forgot to take a picture but they had these peppers stuffed with cheese and prosciutto. They were $12.99/lb but they were excellent.

I can't speak to their prepared food that they have in a bunch of cases, the pizza or the Italian baked goods, but they do have a fully stocked Italian pantry section. Lots of imported pastas, ravioli, Italian sausages, jams, etc. my aunt commented that they have Italian sausage in the round, which is very hard to locate in this area. My aunt and cousin live in the area and were very happy with the assortment of Italian goods they have. In this area it is a bit of a rarity.

Pretty amazing sandwiches from this little store right off of Nassau street. The deli is also quite varied and satisfying overall. Generally happy with my experiences from here as my organization on campus caters from D'Angelos often. We love their egg plant and chicken parms! The restaurant in person is also a pretty solid place to dine. Vibes are immaculate and the restrooms are clean.

Quality market with gourmet sandwiches, nice pizza options by the slice, respectable coffee options, and other store options typical of a convenience store but then w some Italian specific goodies choices that are not so typical too. The staff here seem worn out but they do a good job. The staff in the front seem familiar with local regulars. Seating is available and 1 seated bathroom is available w no key required. The place is a convenient type storefront with an attached cafe area. Coffee is based on beans and nutella and not overly sugary. Almond cheesecake has delicous sweet flavoring on the cone itself with the cheesecake filling accentuating the cone. Fries are crispy and burger with the mushrooms and teriyaki is dynamite! I suspect Kennett mushrooms are used. Worth a visit if you are in the area. Especially if you are here to give CDs for little cash you don't care about and to buy a few new CDs or vinyls and to have a good time in downtown Princeton.

Much love for this place. If you're looking to make authentic Italian food, you'll find everything you need here, and if you're a student, it's just a few steps off campus to get quick and tasty food. It's not super cheap, but it's a great deal since the portion sizes are huge on everything. You can see the pictured tiramisu--that's a chonky piece of tiramisu, almost takes up the entire container, and it was fantastic. It's easy to mess up tiramisu since the ladyfinger cakes can be soaked in espresso for too long, making them soggy or crumbly; the cream can be too sweet; and the espresso needs to be the right strength to be distinct but not overpowering, but everything about this tiramisu hits just right like many of the other traditional Italian dishes at D'Angelo.

I grabbed a couple slices at D'Angelo's Italian Market off Nassau in Princeton. They offer a full selection of Italian ingredients, pastries, sandwiches and pizza by the slice. I grabbed the margarita and firehouse pepperoni. Both slices were solid - huge size and solid flavor, especially from the pepperoni. I docked a star because service was on the frantic side. A lot of their counters didn't have staff and they seemed confused when you approached the counter asking for pizza. They also charge a credit card fee.

Best place in town; breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Staff is unbelievably helpful and the service is just as great.

Best sandwiches in Princeton! Neat Italian grocery items. Never had the pizza but looks delicious.

Coming from Long Island, I thought that the pizza by the slice was less expensive (by a buck). However, the margherita slice was nowhere nearly as good as Pizzaiola (on Long Island). Very salty, and missing the fresh basil chiffonades. They have some Italian desserts, which are fine but not anything that seriously blew me away. This is upscale and near Nassau Street near Princeton University, however, parking can be a challenge. The gloomy weather is so God awful here. No sun. No frickin sunshine. Horrible. If I lived around here or near the Philly area, I'd be in a bad mood all the time too (thinking of an ex-manager with a God awful attitude and demeanor).

i work in Princeton and have tried most of the places for lunch. the pizza here is the best in town... and yes, i've eaten at Conti many times. I feel they are over rated. this is just good pizza. their house made sandwiches are excellent and their rolls are as good as I've ever had anywhere, even my moms. True southern Italian pantry rounds things off. I frequent this place at least once a week. Not really many good options in Princeton if you ask me. It's even hard to get a cheesesteak anywhere so im happy they are here.

Sandwiches are quite large and tasty and so is the pasta. The prices skew on the higher end, but they seem to market themselves as a gourmet Italian deli so I guess it's to be expected.

The best pizza I've ever had! I'll definitely come back for it. The dough is perfectly fluffy and crispy. It's definitely worth a try. I got it to go, so it's hard to judge the place itself

Amazing made to order sandwiches! There's a huge variety of cold or hot sandwiches that are ready within 3-5 minutes and the quality of all the ingredients is excellent. I got the Princeton Tiger sandwich for $13.50 and it will last me 2 full meals, so the value for price is great too. Staff is very friendly and there are tables inside and outside to enjoy the food on the spot. Also a huge selection of pizza, antipasto, and desserts as well. Cannot recommend enough!!

best Italian market in the area. my husband and I shop here once a week (we live 1/2 hour away). Their meats and cheeses are delicious and of high quality. We travel to italy frequently and this market has authentic Italian food:) We have never been disappointed with the service or the products. Our favorites.. Tuscan farafelle, prosciutto bread, spinach rice balls, fresh mozzarella, imported prosciutto, and their large green olives! They also have a superb margarita pizza! Haus and Joe take care of us and they are the best!

Today-I was served by an unthoughtful 20 something year old cashier who didn't care about the customer's needs. Plus I didn't think the cashier Manager was any better with her customer service skills at the register either. The only considerate employee was the deli staff. I'm disappointed as in the past, when I've been here, the staff at the register were friendlier.

Very large sandwiches here! Most are only $9.95, with some a few dollars more or less. The eggplant parmigiana sandwich was delicious, with olive oil on the bread and the bread toasted. The Einstein sandwich bread in comparison was a bit chewy, not toasted. The entire sandwich was cold, which I'm sure is how it's supposed to be served, but i would request the bread toasted next time and maybe the chicken heated too so the cheese melts. It's more of a club sandwich than anything. I would love to come back and try their sliced meats and cheeses and the interesting flavors of bagged chips. Great value and quick service!

Ordered an Alexandra sub, and saw them heat up the chicken in the microwave. Also, the chicken used in the sub was greasy and dry at the same time. Ended up throwing the sub away after a couple of bites.

Atmosphere - n/a Value - 5 Service - n/a Food - 5 I've only ever ordered delivery from D'Angelo's, but this is probably the 4th time I've ordered. And every single time, I get the same thing (except once when I tried the Einstein Classic): the eggplant parmigiana, hero size. It's gigantic, delicious, satisfying and probably bad for your health, but who cares when it's this good? It's definitely enough for two meals, but I would recommend accompanying the sandwich with some vegetables.

The everything food is for Italian, I tried their desserts, one is made of Chocolate mousse covered profiteroles and another is named rice pudding,the rice pudding is very sticky and milky,it is recommendation in the store.They also sell the local Italian cuisines and drinks.

This one of the best sandwich and salad places in central jersey. Everything tastes fresh and clean! They do tend to struggle with large take out orders. I've ordered twice for large groups and we've had items missed or altered in correctly. Overall I love this place.

Best. Chicken parm hero in the metro area! Why? Fresh homemade mozzarella, a bright plum tomato sauce, well portioned chicken cutlets and semolina hero roll that's fresh and easy to chew. I'm guessing San marzano tomatoes. Only visiting but I would come back if in the area. The market is a treasure trove of Italian food!

I agree with many reviewers. We are not returning. Well-stocked Italian market, but the sandwiches were meh and overpriced, and the customer service was just horrible. The young cashier in front was courteous and helpful, but the service at the sandwich and bakery sections was rude, dismissive, hostile. Sometimes rudeness adds charm in certain settings, as with the older gentleman who, smiling said, "no sandwiches" as he made a sandwich. But the others were over the top. Not sure if it's just uneducated crudeness, or a not so subtle disrespect toward other Americans they mistakenly think immigrated after they did. Or maybe it's just hue. Not returning. They need to enter the 21st century and show respect for those spending money in their shop. You don't get away with that in 2023, in Princeton. I won't bring my half-Italian grandchildren in there.

They close their doors before the store actually closes. Misleading. Doesn't seem that costumer service is valued.

I wanted to purchase a lunch to go and one of the people behind the counter was astonishingly rude. I wanted to know what caldi meant on the menu's screen meant and she intervened in my conversation with another person behind the counter. Awful--coarse and rude--Caldi means hot! -- she said aggressively. So I turned and left-- she clearly didn't want my business. It's helpful to read other similar commentaries. Awful, awful place.

Great pizza, burgers and Mediterranean cuisine. Nice people as well and reasonable prices.

This place is AMAZING. They catered our golf event for 150 people and delivered on the highest level. Sandwiches were fresh and delicious. Trays were great. Had out food ready right on time. Will be going to them for many years to come.

We stumbled upon this Amazing Market after we decided we didn't want to wait in the line for breakfast nearby. The Fresh Mozzarella was perfect!! OH MY GOSH....why have we not been here in our several trips to Princeton? This is now going to be on our rotation of places to go when we visit my daughter at school! Everyone was so Amazing!!!!!!!

Someone ordered and picked up sandwiches for lunch- and I decided to order too. Menu has a great interesting selection of sandwiches/Heros to order- price range $5-10 approx. food is good, filled and u get a good size for ur buck! I ordered a " princeton tiger" - which was a chicken cutlet, fresh mozz and vodka sauce on a garlic hero bread! Very good! Hero size which was $9.95 is good enough for lunch and dinner :) Would order again!

Best prepared Italian food in the area! Been coming here for a year now and doesn't get old. Haas, Joe, Derik and Miguel are so accommodating and helpful. My favorites are the bolognese sauce, prosciutto bread & rice balls! Great experience there every time.

Should just get rid of cheesesteaks on the menu if they are gonna come out like this. No taste, little to no meat, huge clumps of onion and peppers. Just embarrassing. Into the trash you go

A great place to grab your homemade Italian breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack. The market offers a nice selection of Italian delicacies, bread and baked goods, but also fresh fruit, veggies and meat. The cafe's menu is so extensive that it takes time to decide what you want to have. The coffee is great, and cannolis are worth to be taken home. Very reasonable prices, generous portions and friendly service. The market is one block away from the crowded coffee shops of the downtown area, but so worth checking out. Highly recommend.

(3.5 stars) D'Angelo is an indecisive person's nightmare, which is to say that it offers many, many delicious-sounding options. I've enjoyed their sandwiches in the past, but during a recent visit, my wife and I decided to try pizza. The Parmense (red sauce, prosciutto, arugula, mozzarella, and parmesan) was savory and salty while the Parmigiana (red sauce, eggplant, basil, mozzarella, and parmesan) was refreshing and not the least bit soggy. This isn't cheap pizza ($3-plus a slice for the Parmense), but you get what you pay for. For as good as the food and the selection are here, D'Angelo has some definite drawbacks. Seating is limited and inadequate given the volume of dine-in customers. The pizzamaker on duty also seemed surly, and I've gotten a brusque vibe from sandwich staff in the past. If you know what you want and take-out is an option, D'Angelo is a blessing. But if you have to eat in, be prepared for some trade-offs along with your likely-to-be very tasty food.

I stopped in D'Angelo during my last trip to Princeton. I'd passed by this corner Italian market all the time, but never had the chance to go inside. I was killing time while waiting for my partner to finish up at the Princeton Record Exchange, so I walked down the street and peeped it out. It was more than what I expected. I had figured it sold just Italian food and products. Yes, there are Italian food items and products, but there was also a selection of higher-quality grocery items and healthy, ready-made meals (organic and vegetarian friendly food). There's also both indoor and outdoor seating. A big plus is that it is conveniently located very close to the parking deck. Now I make sure to stop in whenever I'm in town and pick up a little something to bring back to my kitchen (or enjoy on the ride back home).

Definitely get one of the meatball stuffed sandwiches here! The bread is amazing with the perfect sesame coated crispy crust and the filling is very generous. Perfectly meaty, cheesy, and toasty. Plus it's only $6.99 and can definitely last 2 meals!

Leave the gun. Take the cannoli. Words of wisdom from The Godfather as I willingly handed over a small fortune for a few random Italian pastries. A last minute mistake that will not be repeated again. The desserts were very good but were not spun from gold and hardly worth the exorbitant premium euphemistically known as "The Princeton Price."

High quality ingredients every time I shop there. Their butcher shop and produce is hands-down the best in the area. They were open and doing curb-side during the height of the pandemic and had a lot of items grocery stores didn't; and ever since then they've had my business.

The food was delicious and presentation was perfect. Everyone enjoyed. We now order frequently.

This place is awesome. We ended up visiting twice when we were in Princeton and I loved the food so much. They have an extensive selection of hot foods from pizzas to pastas and sandwiches. Tried the meatball stromboli, caprese pizza, and the pizza topped with prosciutto and arugula. All were awesome, I really loved their marinara sauce. Their grocery section is great. You can pick up pretty much anything you need to make a great meal at home as well. Next time I want to try one of their almond cones filled with cheesecake ;)

i recently discovered D'Angelo when in the search for a reasonably priced sandwich. i've gone to nearly every restaurant in princeton but had never really thought of going to d'angelo until i passed by on my way out of the library parking lot. i'm really glad i did, because i was blown away by the huge selection of sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, cookies, and pastries the market has to offer. i really liked the homey feel inside and the opportunity for both indoor and outdoor seating. there were different sections for pizza, pasta, and deli options/sandwiches. i got a fried chicken cutlet einstein on a roll, sans avocado since they had just run out, which was veryyy substantial, very filling, and very delicious. the cutlet was thick, and the perfect level of crispy, and i appreciated their using flavorful cheese, as well as fresh lettuce and tomato. (the tomato was not originally in the sandwich, but i asked them to add it.) my friend got a signature d'angelo sandwich on a hero which was the same way. both sandwiches' bread was obviously fresh, with a crisp exterior and a soft interior. the obvious quality of the ingredients of our sandwiches, from the bread to the bacon, was a game-changer. major kudos to d'angelo!!!

Have been a patron of this local Princeton nj upscale one stop deli and italian food shop for several years.Stopped by there today after a 2 year hiatus due to Covid and was greeted quickly and efficiently as I ordered my antipasto salad served by Joe, who was a cool dude!!! Then I was rang up with no wait by a young man name Riley who was equally as cool !!! If you tell me you can do better in the area for deli/Italian food goods than D'angelos Italian market I'll say your a stunad!!!

Great little market! Tasty pizza sold by the slice, hot sandwiches, delicious looking Italian dishes sold by the pound, friendly service.

Do not come here. The cashier ladies are very rude. Do not help you find anything. Do not even know their inventory. I picked out $30 worth of grocery items. Asked the cashier if they had feta in the box. She said "i don't know.... ask the guys behind the deli counter I guess" I searched the store again and wanted to walk out. The cashier already bagged everything and also didn't care if I found the feta or not. All their groceries are overpriced and not very fresh. I do like the meat selection. But I wish I had another small grocery option because I am not interested in shopping here anymore.

I've started going for lunch. They are the best deal in town. I order from the prepared foods case. Everything is good to fantastic. I like being able to control portions and being able to get out of there with a nice hot lunch that includes a vegetable for under ten bucks. They'll put foods on a real plate and heat it up for you.

It's not cheap, but dang it's good! Five stars if it were a bargain, and depending upon what you are looking for, some of it is more or less average price for the area... but let's talk quality! Best bread!!! Amazing and I mean soooooooo good homemade marinara sauce in the refrigerator section. FRESH fuscilli!!! And in the prepared foods section, the best eggplant I have ever eaten, I kid you not! Rollatini was sweet, tempered and smooth, though I didn't eat the stuffing, and last time when I had the eggplant stacks I also didn't eat the cheese and again, fantastic not at all bitter. And, they had all of the candies, snacks, cheeses and packaged goods from my childhood- a treat for my mum when visiting ( this is the more pricey part- the imports or Italian known brands) Parking isn't easy, but somehow I usually find a spot somewhat close by. D'Angelos certainly does it right!

The front cashier wasn't very helpful or polite, I thought we dont have that anymore in this day and age. Workers in DMV are more polite then that cashier lady.

I challenge you to tell me where in Princeton you can find a better Italian "sangwhich" to satisfy your cholesterol cravings. Deangelo is an unsuspecting Italian market tucked away on a street corner. Wide variety of sandwiches to choose from as well as pizza, fresh salads, and other Italian foods to take away. I got the Nassau street sandwich on a long roll and it was worth every calorie. Freshly sliced prosciutto, wet mozzarella, roasted tomatoes, and balsamic. To die for. I believe it was about 12 bucks. The grocery items are so overpriced it's laughable so I wouldn't recommend making this your weekly grocery option. But for a quick Italian sangwich while roaming around Princeton? Bellissimo !! ;)
