Copenhagen is a very expensive city. Budget travelers like me resorted in staying at hostels and even hostels are relatively expensive compared to the general hostels elsewhere.
On our travel this time, I booked a double room with ensuite bathroom for hubby and I to stay in. We booked via hotels.com ahead of time but you can also book via their website, for a good rate if you choose nonrefundable option.
Checking in was fast and efficient, they didn't ask us to pay for the linens, it looks like it's now free, you still have to make your own bed though and no housekeeping, they only empty the trash in the room daily.
As we entered the room, there is the bathroom on one side of the wall and 4 lockers (you have to bring your own lock). We use the lockers to keep some clothes but just locked our suitcases with valuables. There are 4 beds in our room, 2 twin size bed that's pushed together forming a larger bed and 1 bunk bed (2 beds), a small table and two chairs. There are plenty of plugs for your electronics but if you should bring your own adapters if you're not from Europe and your stuff has differed type of plugs shapes.
There is NO A/C in the room but the window can be opened and there is no screen but thankfully we didn't see insects coming in to the room during our stay.
Pur room was on the 5th floor, facing the water. We could hear traffic from our room but thankfully we're not light sleepers. Getting a room facing the back alley might be quieter.
You can rent hairdryer (you pay 100 kroner and they return 80 kroner when you return at the end of your stay) and adapters from the front desk and there is a guest kitchen with utentsils and everything you need to cook a meal (you need to buy your own grocery and spices). The coffee maker, hot water boiler and microwave didn't look clean though.... There is also a laundry room. To access these area, you'll need to borrow an access card from the front desk.
Overall, it was a nice stay. You can take bus 5c to and from the airport to reach the hostel and it's a couple minutes walk to the hostel. Bus 5c also tales you to places in the town, very convenient. You can easily walk to Tivoli, the city hall (rashudpladssen?!), glyptoketet, and stroget (shopping street) about 10-15 minutes.
Our room was clean..the only thing to note is that the shower door does not seal, so water will splash to the sink area so basically it is a "wet bathroom" which seems to be the typical thing in Europe. Bring your own toiletries and your own wash rag and towel (if you want bigger fluffy ones).
It was fairly quiet but a school group arrived on our 2nd night and the kids would be banging on each other door all night long and we were too lazy to go downstairs to complain.
