I stayed for two nights at this hostel. I'd just come from Copenhagen and was going to hike and cycle in the Lake District.||||The hostel is very comfortable and clean. There's a kitchen, restaurant, laundry room, BBQ, basketball court, TV and lounge. I would say it's best suited to families, and the atmosphere was quite sterile. When I was there there was only a group of school kids and their teachers.||||Check in is between 4-6pm, and if you want to arrive earlier or later then you have to email ahead (which I didn't) as the shutter will be down and no one will be around. I had arrived at 2 and had hoped to leave my bags in a locker and go for a walk, but could not find anywhere - There are actually free lockers upstairs by room 7, but it's not made obvious.||||I had a small female only dorm, but was the only one in the dorm. It was very comfortable and clean, though I imagine it would have been very full if the other bunks were in use. The showers are great, and the kitchen was fully stocked with all the utensils you wold need.||||There are a lot of do and don'ts signs everywhere. One of them was 'You can not bring your own alcohol into the hostel, you must buy it from the reception', which is fine, but the reception is only open 8-12 and 4-6pm, neither are times I want to purchase or drink beer. I was staying in the low season so perhaps this is different when it's high season.||||Overall the hostel is great for a short stay, and I imagine if you're a family unit it would be great. The facilities are wonderful, really really good location. Close to the centre, to the supermarket, to the river, to the forest, to the train station. My only complaint was that it was quite a sterile, unfriendly atmosphere.
