November 14, 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Clean airport with extremely long lineups. We were the first bus to arrive, so everything moved along quickly, but I felt bad for the people who came on the later buses. The staff were friendly, and the process to check in luggage and go through customs was smooth. There’s also a great selection of duty-free shops where you can buy chocolates, alcohol, coffee, and much more.

Very easy to navigate. Warning to check what time American Airlines opens (website did say 8 but they didnt open until 9:15ish) or you might be sitting for a little. Only took about 5-10 minutes to get through customs and tsa on the way out of CR. About an hour and some change on the way in CR (most flights land around the same time). Outside customs: Bathroom (was broken when I came in but fixed on the way out), 2 souvenir shops, and a few bench/seating options. Indoor and outdoor cafe/bar to wait at right outside of exit, with plenty of taxi/shuttle options available (my shuttle had to wait across the street so be aware of that). Inside: lots of souvenir shops to waste time with free coffee, hot sauce, and chocolate samples. I honestly kept trying new coffees instead of having to buy one...Also have bikes (to charge your phone) outside gate 2/3 or just get your legs moving. Tables/space available to remote work at. Self serve water fountain. Restaurant options inside. Prices are very high though (for both souvenirs and food). I used Gyspy Cab Nosara to get to Nosara and highly recommend as well!

I have been in numerous airports in my life, and this one has the most stringent security I have ever encountered from civil airport staff. 1- Immigration interrogation while on the check-in waiting line (I have never experiences this in my life). 2- Random drug check of carry-on and person at the entrance to the plane (I have never experienced this in my life). 3- Scout like haws for bags left alone for seconds while you are standing up. The overhiring of civil airport security staff creates a need to keep them busy. These civil people become power-tripped because they are nobodies given fake authority. I have been reading the reviews here. With that salary money, they could actually provide a better service to people who come from abroad to spend thousands in their country. Costa Rica would be even poorer without us. Third-world countries often invest in the wrong things.

The airport is small & clean. We arrived in early February, the line up through customs was long but moved quickly. We were out of the airport within an hour. For our departure we got there 3 hours early. The employees including our airline agent were courteous, air conditioning was comfortable, the line up through security was efficient. We had a chance to shop at the duty free…very friendly service. What I didn’t like: 1.)the seats in the waiting area to the gates are very tight and narrow. You have to hop over bags to get in & out of your seat. 2.) I’m aware how F&B is expensive at the airports but in the Liberia airport it’s ridiculous…$25 is way too much for a soft drink & a slice of pizza. Eat before you get there or bring your own food.

Very nice and convenient sized airport. Got some Imperial and Ron Centanario rum from Costa Rica from Duty Free. No tax, Great prices.

The airport is not too big which I love, does not take long to get to the gates. Bathrooms are pretty clean. Just like in any other airport, stuff are pricey ( buy souvenirs outside as they are 3 times more expensive in the airport) .

Airport itself not bad but the service and staff was awful. Our flight was supposed to take off 5 hours delayed and while waiting they told us to get off again. I’m glad they found whatever was wrong with the American Airline plane which I’m glad they did we got off the airplane and were told we had to stay overnight. American Airlines staff basically just gave us a hand written note with the name of the airport on it. All hotels were fully booked no help whatsoever no help getting even water or mind you offering any to the people who were stuck there. One of the most expensive airports and I’m not saying accidents don’t happen but the staff didn’t communicate well or even helped in the slightest way. I will never return. Not worth the hassle if anything goes wrong. After planning my vacation safe with planned pickups I was left stranded in a foreign country and on top they tried to rip us off with 4 times the price for a ride so I ended up taking an uber in the night to find some air bnb to stay in. Not how I envisioned my vacation to end and felt very unsafe.

Small, extremely crowded (Jan '26). Security flow is a mess, restaurant prices push a bit past "overpriced airport food" into downright insulting for the quality. No lounge options. Convenient location for a one way trip through CR, but can't recommend as an airport.
