I Took My Family to Copenhagen, and It Was Our Best Vacation Yet

"Housed in a striking stacked-glass building by Rem Koolhaas’s firm, this museum showcases Danish innovations in architecture and urban development while making the subject fun for kids: there are large bins of LEGOs, an outdoor play area with trampolines and a climbing tunnel, a giant aerial map of the city, and a twisting four-story slide designed by Carsten Höller that elicits screams of delight." - Sunshine Flint

The museum is located just a 10-minute walk from the central station. I visited the museum yesterday because it was the day of architecture and the museum's reopening. The new exhibition, "Water is Coming," is very informative about how Copenhagen is addressing global warming issues. The museum itself has been beautifully renovated as well.

I'll admit without torture - we used this place to spend a few hours during a layover in Copenhagen. And as a place to hide from the bad weather. But it exceeded our expectations. Very nice and interesting exhibitions where one can learn about the latest trends in architecture. Interactive exhibits. All nicely connected. And an excellent café on top. So I recommend it, even if the weather is nice :) And I apologize to the place for the low motives to visit it.

Place was disappointing; with a name like the Danish Architecture Centre, I expected more than just a single room with a few exhibits and a couple of walls filled with scattered photos. Danish architecture deserves so much more. You can easily skip it—you won’t be missing much.

Too many shouting children. The part about Danish architecture was perfect, but small. The biggest venue was about "water". Boring and uninteresting. Other parts were for loud and running children. Not recommended. We are professional architects/designers and this visit gave us nothing new. It looks more like a social center kindergarten, because of the slide, and the children are there only for that.

What an amazing place to visit. It is such an amazing place to learn new things and feel inspired! What a brilliant experience learning about the history of Denmark in such a way. I would 1000% recommend to go, even if you don't know very much about architecture, it's just an amazing experience!

The Danish Architectural Center is a a modern gem set on the sparkling water’s edge of Copenhagen’s lovely architectural necklace. I would allow yourself two hours minimum to enjoy this richly exhibited well documented masterpiece of a design museum and educational space.

The Danish Architecture Centre is a really fun stop in Copenhagen. They have both rotating and permanent exhibitions. Currently, they are showcasing "Aware," an exhibition that demonstrates the marriage between architecture and the senses through design—it's truly fascinating. The museum provides a great overview of Danish architectural design history and highlights some innovative design projects currently in the works or recently completed. One of the best parts is that it doesn't take too long to visit; you can easily do it in an hour. It is also very kid friendly. I highly recommend downloading the museum app, which features an explore option showing numerous architectural landmarks around the city as you bike or stroll through. Every major city should have something like this - its very cool. The gift shop is also really well curated. This is a must-visit for anyone traveling to Copenhagen!

Looking for an architecture experience? This is the place. We have had a great time. I recommend doing the tour and after walking the building. Have a coffee at the terrace. You will have a nice view.
