In County Donegal, Ireland's Myths, Magic, and Music Intertwine

"Brian O'Domhnaill, a Gaeilgeoir (Irish-language speaker) and connoisseur of sean nós (unaccompanied) singing, and perhaps the most renowned chef in West Donegal, pointed mournfully at a statue of Cúchulainn in a corner of his restaurant, Danny Minnie's in Annagry."

We went for dinner tonight for the first time and what an experience!! The welcome, the pre drink and then the food was just incredible. There was not a bad meal on the table and the entire experience was so amazing!! We will definitely be back and would highly recommend

I'm giving this a four stars..look the food overall is really great with a few minor niggles...there was an unevenness in portion sizes. I enjoyed a huge wonderfully cooked Turbot fillet ..but my dining pals dishes, though very tasty, were a bit mean sized.. especially the sea trout. While the veg accompaniments were plentiful and also overall tasty, the red cabbage offering was a colorful but bland tasting and added nothing other than a splash of color. The variant dauphinoise were yummy but the young spuds were a tad wet. The service was welcoming and familiar at the outset as we enjoyed pre dinner drinks in a comfy lounge before dinner..after that the service slipped. We had at least four different people attend our table during the night..with some pros and a few cons...at the end of the evening it would have been nice if one of the staff would be assigned to ensuring a thanks and goodbye...it would be a welcome touch.. after all.. while we found the prices generally reasonable for the quality of food it was not a cheap night out. So overall I would come back for the food but there is a need to tweak and improve on some details , notably on the service front and then this place would truly shine. I should add, the potentially kitsch faux castle interior somehow works and makes for a cozy and comfortable restaurant setting. Very nice.

My partner and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Danny Minnies in Donegal, and I can't express enough how wonderful our experience was. The warmth and care we received made us feel like we were part of the family, which truly touched our hearts. The food was exceptional, and I wholeheartedly recommend making time for dinner there when you visit Donegal. I left with a newfound love for their delicious beetroot and ginger jam—it’s simply delightful! 😊

A great few days in Donegal topped off with an evening meal in this fabulous restaurant, the menu was exceptional and the staff efficient but unobtrusive. Lovely to experience a venue with distinctive decor and furnishings unlike the usual corporate decor of most restaurants. Bhi siad ar ris

What an amazing experience! The service and atmosphere was brilliant and the food devine. I enjoyed every aspect of the evening, when you arrive you’re seated in the bar and offered a drink and canapé while choosing your dinner, a nice touch to start the meal. Can’t wait to go back

Girlie Trips |Have a most enjoyable stay in Danny Minnies last weekend. From the moment we checked in we were made welcome. The rooms were all decorated with an eclectic mix of antiques. The beds were comfortable and lovely linens. Rooms were a tad warm (maybe that was more to do with our age!!!) but we cold open the windows and a comfortable sleep. The food in the restaurant was top class I particularly liked the lamb and the crème brulee. Unlike some establishments of this class there was ample food on the plate. There was a bit of a mix up with one of the party and a waitress between the panna cotta and crème brulee however it didn't spoil our night. |There is a very obvious a very good/happy staff morale here which is a testament to the owners - having worked in busy kitchens in my youth i know this is not always easy. | The chef came out and serenaded two parties who were celebrating special occasions and boy could he sing opera. |The attention to detail at breakfast on Sunday to second to none. |Now the stuff no one wants to talk about money - Danny Minnies is definitely good value for money. Yes we will return. |Well done to the team in Danny Minnies.

Beautiful ambience lots of atmosphere, food amazing. Recommended the wild Atlantic turbot. It was so good we had, goat cheese, crab, and homemade pate as our starters and our main courses Belly of Pork and scallop, Seabass, sirloin steak with crolly whiskey sauce and the turbot omg it was totally amazing. Great service beautiful staff thanks to all the staff at Danny Minnie's for making our night very special......Dee dee

Great experience, got a table after walking in not knowing what to expect and as we were just looking for food near our accommodation. We were greeted and seated in a lovely cosy area and then brought to a gorgeous dining room - top class decor but still very relaxed. Food was unbelievable. All side dishes are provided and you get a variety of beautifully prepared selection of potatoes and vegetables as well as complimentary breads/canapés - 10/10 value for money. Service was also brilliant, staff were very accommodating and efficient. Next time we are in Donegal we will be making sure to book a table to visit again!
