Great experience! Knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. It was a good opportunity to learn about their different approaches to rescuing and rehabilitating (when and where possible) gibbons, loris, black-shanked doucs and silver langurs. We didn't closely approach any of the cages, but could observe most of the animals from about 10 to 15m away. The viewing platform allowed us to get a great look at the gibbons in "Phase 2" of their rehabilitation, and it was lovely to see them swing from tree to tree and hear them call out to each other. Fully recommended, worth the price.
NOTE: there are TWO different gibbon rescue centers. One is within the national park, and is run by the National Park/government and is located right next to the park headquarters. The Dao Tien center however, is (partially) run by Go East, a british NGO. Dao Tien center is located on an island just outside the National Park.
Tours to Dao Tien start at 8:30. Tickets can be booked from the Park Headquarters (INSIDE the park) for 400k dong per adult. This fee includes a return ferry ride from the Park Headquarters to the island and back. E.g. You first need to make your way to park headquarters by ferry from Nam Cat Tien village (120k) before you can join this tour.
We did the 5 am gibbon trek (not related to Dao Tien), finishing around 7:00- 7:30 and had plenty of time to catch some breakfast inside the park before joining the Dao Tien tour at 8:30.
