Best fries in the world. No, seriously. They won that very same award in 2025. Ok, I don’t know if these are indeed better than those in a small shop in Buenos Aires, Bangalore or Bergen but the reputation stacks up. A small hole in the wall in the heart of Leiden, some spots to sit, but easier for take out. It’s usually manned by chipper yet courteous students, who chop the potatoes then and there. The fries are cut with the peel, fried twice over. I’ve gone there many times and the quality is stabile: crunchy yet never charred. Loads of sauces. And bitterballen to boot! Give it a shot, who knows, they may turn out to be better than the ones you had in Brussels that one time.
