"Yudiawan launched a small restaurant, Dapur Bali Mula, where he serves dishes that celebrate the bounty of his ancestral land—just-caught squid tossed with spices, barracuda satay, and mackerel cooked over wood fire in young bamboo. Yudiawan also distills his own arak, or palm wine, and produces artisanal sea salt and a type of palm-sugar syrup known as juruh. Spending more time in Les has allowed him to promote the offerings of other small producers from the region too, like the fishing community and coconut vendors."

Out-of-the-way traditional Balinese cuisine specializing in seafood, but totally worth-it. They also offer pork dishes but one must order at least a day in advance for their pork dishes. Generous servings of sambal matah. The place also provides lodging and other activities (cooking lessons, arts and crafts). They produce homemade arak bali and gula lontar to take away. Very passionate and hospitable chef-proprietor. (Reservation highly recommended)

I came here all the way from Denpasar and was truly satisfied with the dining experience—it felt like coming back home. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was serene, the place was clean, and honestly, this kind of genuine setting is really rare. The food here is based on a donation system with a minimum of 100k for 2 people, which is absolutely worth it for such tasty and fulfilling meals. I’ll definitely be coming back here next time!

A true hidden gem for authentic Balinese cuisine. No menu here – everything is based on the chef’s recommendation. The seafood is incredibly fresh, cooked over traditional firewood, and perfectly seasoned – not too salty, not oily, just right for non-Balinese palates. No wonder many visitors from outside the region consider this place a must-visit. The setting is equally charming – a rustic wooden space surrounded by greenery, with chickens freely roaming around, giving you the feeling of being in a real Balinese village. The owner and chef, Jero Bali (Mangku), is warmly welcoming, and what makes this place even more special is their commitment to involving the local community, helping build the village economy. And of course, after your meal, don’t be surprised if you’re offered a little glass of local arak – part of the tradition here. Definitely a place I’d love to return to soon! Ps. Don’t forget to buy the salt!

The place successfully delivered the most amazing authentic Balinese food I’ve ever had. Every dish was surprised by tradition, made with care, and served with genuine warmth from their gorgeous staff. They have a space for making arak with many kinds of it. This was, hands down, my best dining experience ever. A must-visit for anyone who wants a true taste of Bali!

Our villa arranged a reservation for us here, and it turned out to be an exceptional experience. The menu is thoughtfully based on what the fishermen bring in from the sea that day, making every dish incredibly fresh and unique. The chef curated five authentic traditional North Bali dishes, giving us an unforgettable culinary journey. The ambiance perfectly captured the charm of a village and Balinese culture, adding to the magic of the evening. The portions were generous, and the flavors were absolutely outstanding. We also had the chance to take home a bottle of arak from their own distilled production, which was such a special touch. I’m not exaggerating when I say this was the best Balinese cuisine we’ve ever tasted. The entire experience was exciting and felt unlike any other tourist spot—it was truly magical. We’ll definitely be back the next time we visit Tejakula or Buleleng!

I love the atmosphere, not just his fresh and delicious meals in authentic Balinese spices. Worth to visit and, when possible, staying for a night or two in a village with a peaceful traditional Balinese atmosphere and far from commercialism. We felt lucky to be able to meet and chat with the chéf and owner, who is also a priest who serves the Hindu ceremony in his village. Visit only by reservation and can not always accept guests, especially if there is a traditional ceremony.

Traditional balinese ambience that so relaxing and authentic balinese seafood to ready to fill your tummy. Each week/day they have different menus. The food is so clean, I didn’t taste any MSG usage in there. Couple of photo spots to try out. You can taste traditional alcohol drink (Arak) here also for free.
