Dar Poeta

This is indeed a very crowded place but probably because there are a lot of lovers of pizza and pasta for which they seem to be pretty good and popular. However, if you look for other Italian traditional food, then this is not the right place to go. For example, we had “Carcioffo alla Română” which is supposed to be a fried artischock, but it was fried completely and broke down as an overbaked pastry. Service is pleasant and fast but unfortunately, table arrangements are not optimal, forcing people to push on each others chairs (basically, back to back so you cannot really get out).

Quite possibly the BEST pizza in Rome! Crust baked to perfection, made with the freshest of fresh ingredients. All the staff friendly and professional. The manager(owner?) made sure everyone dining inside and outside were taken care of. The no wifi was a welcome change. It was nice to see guests interacting with each other, like phones didn't exist. It all combined to make a super lively Trastevere atmosphere. Our waitress was very helpful with her recommendations. Overall simply a wonderful experience.

You wouldn’t expect to find a district like this in Rome, but it was absolutely amazing. It felt authentic, as if it belonged to the locals who lived there. Prices were affordable, the food was delicious, and the vibe was incredible, music flowing, wine flowing, everyone having a great time. Our B&B was just above this spot, making it the perfect place to enjoy the Bufalini Pizza, which was absolutely to die for! We discovered it on our last night, and we can’t recommend it enough. Be aware, though: it gets busy because everyone wants to get in, so expect a line.

Amazing place, amazing food, amazing servers. Service was fast - the restaurant was full and we waited for our food like 10-15 minutes! Try the Nutella-Ricotta calzone! Take the big one and share it with 3 people! Just amazing! Highly recommended!

Really great little restaurant on a quieter street. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was fantastic. The drink were a good size for the price. Overall, if you are in the area I could highly recommend this restaurant. You won't regret it.

This was such a cute little place off the beaten path with a quieter patio. Really good atmosphere. The food was very good! We shared a pizza which may have been the best one we had on our entire trip in Italy. Everything was very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend.

Being from Australia as far as we can tell it was very authentic Italian food. A mix of tourists and locales (also a lot of takeout/delivery). The beer, pizza (la speciale), salad and wine were magnificent.

This was such a cute little place that's tucked in Trastevere. The ambiance was very peaceful, and my fiancé and I were able to enjoy our lunch without all the loud noises. We got the suppli and a regular Margherita pizza. They're both to die for. Definitely stop by when you're in Rome.

Intro: After a long day of exploring Rome, I was in the Trastevere neighborhood and I was looking for a dinner spot. Dar Poeta was on my list and it was a close walk from where I was, so I made my way. While the restaurant was close to capacity, I was seated promptly at a table outside. Service (3/5): Standard European service. A little slow and not terribly efficient. You may need to get ahold of the waiter's attention to get what you want. But comparable to other restaurants in Italy. Ambiance (4/5): Italy is all about al fresco dining and this is a great place to do it. Trastevere is my favorite part of Rome for dining and nightlife. Many have compared it to Greenwich Village in New York. It's a charming part of town. Drinks (4/5): I tried a beer from Sicily (a large one at that) which was served with a glass. A refreshing accompaniment to my meal. Food (4.5/5): Italy is known for its pizza but can we get some love for calzones too? I had pizza several times during my Italy trip but I wanted to have a calzone at least once too. And I'm glad I did! They only have two or three calzone options here and a long list of pizzas, but don't let that deter you. I had the sausage and mozzarella calzone and it was beyond delicious. First off, it was huge! To the point that I ate half and the other half became lunch the next day. The calzone was cooked just right and brushed with butter. The stretchy mozzarella oozes out of the calzone with every bite. It was so good that I'm happy I had the self-control to only eat half of it. I wanted to eat it all but knew that wasn't the best decision. Overall: If you're looking for a restaurant that specializes in delectable pizzas in the coolest neighborhood in Rome, check out Dar Poeta. Their menu has a lot more than pizza if you're looking for something else.

Dar Poeta in Trastevere is a delightful surprise. The restaurant might look modest, but the pizzas are anything but. I tried the pizza matriciana, and it was incredible. Think fresh tomato sauce, generous guanciale, and a touch of freshly cracked pepper. What really makes it special is the pecorino Romano instead of mozzarella, adding a bold, sharp twist to every bite. The ingredients are top-notch, and the service is friendly and welcoming. If you're in Rome and exploring Trastevere, make sure to stop by Dar Poeta. This is one pizza experience you won't want to miss

We came on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy but I didn't realize there was a queue but it was fine because we arrived and I told the gentleman that we were four and he added us to the list. There were tables both inside and outside (more outside). After a short wait, they called us and we got a table outside. The menu was posted on a large board so we had time to ponder it and we were ready when we sat down. I had beer and pizza with mushrooms and artichokes (my fave). We also got a marinara pizza, which was surprisingly good, and a couple of salads. It wasn't too hot in the shade and the pizza was very good. It was a pleasant Sunday afternoon meal in a cool part of Rome.

This was our first stop in Rome as it was right around the corner from our air bnb and we were craving some pizza! This napoleon style pizza was crispy and had fresh ingredients plus the tiramisu was super creamy and delicious, but in my opinion could use more lady fingers! The only thing I have to say is that we did want to go back but it was closed randomly so we only got to eat here once! This was a great pizza spot in Trastevere.

This place was phenomenal - such a hidden gem. There was a bit of a wait to sit down, but it was well worth it. The limoncello was great as were the pizzas we had. One had spicy pepperoni and spicy peppers and the other was a sausage calzone. Both were phenomenal. We finished with tiramisu - some of the best i've ever had. You won't regret visiting this place!

This place is super hyped up for a reason, the pizza is fantastic. Controversial Opinion: Although the pizza is delicious, we had equally good pizza at other restaurants in Rome. I enjoyed the experience but I wouldn't wait in line for this place.

We visited Travestere and walked around, including the botanical garden and got pretty hungry by lunch. Found this place, again through yelp and since we have been eating pasta since coming to Italy, we decided to try pizza. I realized after seeing the signs that this was one of the most instagrammed restos in Travestere. It didn't disappoint! We were promptly seated and servers were attentive. Nice and cool inside, and how funny the sign said "no wifi" and suggested that customers spend quality time with their companions. That was pretty neat. We ordered limoncello spritz and enjoyed it. We also started with an assortment of meats and cheese as a starter and even my very discerning German husband had good things to say from the freshness of the cheese, to the tasty meats and really good olive oil Pizza was also very good, although next time we will just share one as honestly each pizza was a good size for 2 people if you are like us who always order starters to share.

Great pizza. Lots of choices, both with tomato sauce and without. We had a mozzarella, mortadella and pesto with buffalo mozzarella and then on with tomato, salami and hot pepper and mozzarella. Both very tasty. Good suppli too...had the cacio e pep one and ate it too fast to take a photo. Yum! Nice house red, brucetta and 2 soft drinks for 42 euro. Good servers. Fairly big inside and out in this tiny alley.

They were able to seat us inside right away. The service was quick. We had a bruschetta with tomatoes that was a bit salty. The pizza did taste good but would have liked some basil added. The restaurant was lively and in a great area.

In my opinion, Dar Poeta is in the top 2 pizza places in Roma. Dar Poeta's pizza is thin and holds its shape as you eat. The crust is crispy, chewy, and has that great almost charred taste from the oven. I got the Dar Poeta pizza and it was truly amazing I wish I could eat more than one pizza in a sitting. Another thing to note is the pizzas, like most places in Rome are personal sized. Dar Poeta offers indoor or outdoor seating. They also have a second location where the pizza is sold by the slice. overall: 10/10 you are missing out if you don't come to Dar Poeta

We found this place when looking for dinner on Yelp and Google and decided to try it. There was a lot of people waiting outside. We waited 25 mins for a table. They do charge cover here (1.50 euro per person). The crust was thin but still fluffy. It wasn't floppy except for the amatriciana (it was a little floppy towards the center). Amatriciana - my favorite! I loved how saucy it was and the tomato sauce was very acidic and tart. The pancetta and pecorino cheese added a lot of flavor to the tomato sauce. Top - very creamy! The funghi porcini added a lot of flavor! Bufula - the basil and cherry tomatoes made the pizza feel lighter. The buffalo mozzarella was added after baking which was unique. Overall, this is the best pizza I've had in Rome.

Hands down, one of the best pizzas I've ever had! While visiting Rome, we asked a local to recommend his favorite pizza spot in Trastevere and this is where he took us. For one, the spot was super lovely and didn't feel as touristy as the other places we had visited. We enjoyed sitting outdoors and having a peaceful meal. The pizza did not disappoint and I found myself wanting to come back the next day! I would definitely recommend!

Some of my favorite pizza ever! Perfect balance of crispness and softness on the crust. Sauce and cheese were spot on, and the price is great. Definitely worth a visit. I'd skip the eggplant next time though.

Honestly one of the best pizzas in Roma. Initially you might look away because the place doesn't look like a traditional restaurant and it's right next to some very old houses. To be honest the staff is a bit rude and my glass seemed like it hadn't been cleaned at all. But if you can overlook all the above the pizza is really good, I've never tried such crust, it's a must.

We love this place - we heard about this place from our friends - decided to check it out on a Thursday evening - the area is popping. We were able to get seated right away - decided to just order one pizza - the Bufala pizza. For two people - we downed it so fast - that we ordered another pizza - the Dar Poeta pizza - zucchini and sausage and lots of mozarella. We cleaned up both pizzas. Our mistake was to order the nutella and pistachio tiramisu - skip the dessert - it was mediocre and too sugary - we had better tiramisu (actually we made better tiramisu in Italy few days later) But.. the memories of the pizza at Dar Poeta lingered on us, so much that we came back a few days later on a Saturday night -but unfortunately, it was even more packed. There was a long line just to get seated (both indoors and outdoors) so we decided to order a pizza to go and it was ready in just 10 minutes. We got a ride back to our Hotel and enjoyed our pizza. If you ever get a chance visit this place and order the Bufala!

Pizza was amazing!! Extremely light, and tons of flavor. Salad was fresh and flavorful. Servers were excellent and friendly. Typical Italian atmosphere, side road outdoor seating.

Dar Poeta served the best pizza we had during our time in Rome. It was highly recommended by my son's teacher and it didn't disappoint! There is a large variety of pizza options. My family tried 4 types which we all enjoyed. We also liked the suppli and prosciutto/ Buffalo mozzarella appetizers. They have ample seating indoors and outside. It's on a quiet street, so lovely to sit outside when the weather cooperates.

Delicious food and great service! Come early because a line starts to form around 6:30 and just gets longer as the night goes on, but the food is worth it!

Wish i could give this 10 stars. Only thing that's changed about this spot in the 8 years since I last dined there is the crowd that is lined up all night. We showed up probably around 8pm and were probably the 6th or 7th group in line. Wait time was not bad for 2 people, although we did see larger groups (4+) wait for a very very long time. A larger group behind us actually went up the street to buy beers to drink while they waited. Food here is... beyond amazing. We ordered the caprese salad (so fresh & delicious, but not sure I'd order next time strictly to save room for more pizza), bosciola & lingua de foco. Best pizza of our lives. Go and order honestly anything and you will not regret it. *definitely have extra patience once you get seated - we had one waitress handling every outdoor table, so get those drink orders in early so you stay busy while you wait

Sitting down in a tight alley way is the style that I love. We passed many restaurants and many tiny shops. The atmosphere was just amazing.Good service by getting orders quick and efficient. I got a Fanta and a margarita pizza. I think that with the tools to cut the pizza with it made it hard to cut your slices. When you got there it was worth it. The crust was a beautiful crisp and just a great taste. It pleased my taste buds. The overall pizza consisted of well spread sauce and cheese all around this circular frame. This Italian state mark had a great ratio of sauce to cheese and got a good amount on each bite. I think overall the pizza deserved a 8.6. Hearing other reviews from my table and the group rating we heard comments such as "best pizza" or "perfectly cooked." Overall great restaurant and highly recommended.

Very good pizza! With lots of good options in Rome, it's hard to find bad pizza, but would definitely recommend this place if you're in the mood for a potato sausage pizza! It's very different than anything I've had in the US and I would definitely try it again if I'm ever back in town. The space is a tight little pizza shop heated from the fires of the oven. The service is quick - in true Italian fashion.

This is the best pizza in Rome! We were recommended this restaurant by a family friend and we are so happy we listened. The service was fast and the beers were refreshing. We enjoyed this restaurant so much the first time, we went back again. Martina even remembered us. We had to have again the Bruschetta with honey and gorgonzola and the Sampietrino pizza with Mozzarella cheese - zucchini cream - mortadella and fresh buffalo mozzarella - both scrumptious. Do yourself a favor and walk over to the Trastevere neighborhood while you're in Roma, not just for the cool vibes but for the awesome pizza at Dar Poeta. I've eaten a good amount of pizza throughout Italy, and sometimes they seem to run together. However, Dar Poeta's pizza stands out. From the seemingly unlimited options/combinations to the high-quality ingredients, this pizza definitely is heads-and-shoulders above any I've tried in Roma. No matter what you like on your pizza, the outcome won't disappoint. Not to mention, the price point is very reasonable for the quality. I'd highly recommend this as one of the top two pizzas I've had in Italy.

Dar Poeta is situated in the beautiful neighborhood of Trastevere opposite bank of the river Tiber and south of the Vatican. The prices are very reasonable, that get even more reasonable once you consider the location and the quality. Pizza may have been invented in Naples but different regions of Italy offer different versions of "local" pizza. In Rome you will find pizza in a few different ways: by the slice, roman style or naples style. Roman-style pizza is round, with a very thin-crust, and usually cooked in a wood-burning oven. These pizzas are topped with cheese or not, and/or with tomato or not. The other toppings vary but again, owing to the thin crust, the tradition is to have very few toppings. Compared to the Naples style where the dough is breadier, softer and has a slightly thicker crust, with edges that puff up. We ordered the Buffala Pizza which was topped with Buffala cheese, tomato and basil... just three ingredients and it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The cheese was so fresh along with the homemade tomato sauce topped with fresh basil... For dessert- we ordered the Pannacotta Caramello and it was perfect. The melth-in-your-mouth texture of the pannacotta with the thick layer of carmel in each bite was incredible. It was a day well spent in this beautiful neighborhood and this restaurant added so much happiness to it!

Hands down the best pizza we had on our Italian getaway! The sauces are so flavorful, the ingredients so fresh, and it's the perfect consistency for crust (not too crispy, fluffy and chewy, and the perfect amount of char) - it's amore . Prices are very affordable and it's located in Trastevere - a very lively neighborhood. We got lucky enough to grab a table for lunch without waiting, but by the time we left the line had already formed, however I would've absolutely said worth the wait!

The pizza is OK, but not life changing. The wine choices are EXTREMELY limited to red, white, pink, bubbly. The beer choices are Heineken or Heineken. The service is "interesting" as it seems to come in waves. + patio (street) dining on a warm October evening. - paper napkins €26 for dinner

This the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life. The crust is delicious, proportions of cheese and sauce is perfection and the house wine is to die for. My fiancé and I are contemplating a trip back to Rome and I think a big reason is to experience the food! I love the setting - it's so romantic and adorable with the chairs and tables right on the cobble stone roads and the lights add character to the charm. This place is an authentic local spot and I can't recommend it highly enough!

By one of the recommendations of my Yelpers friends, I give this pizzeria a change. Dar Poeta has to be one of the best pizzas in Rome, with a great location and outside area make this a great experience in the beautiful city of Rome. But why the three starts I will explain a bit on my review. For my pizza, I order the Dar Poeta with sausage and zucchini, the pizza was so delicious and equally perfectly baked in an oven fire stove, with a generous portion of its toppings each bite was a satisfaction to my palate. Without hesitation, if I have the opportunity to return to Rome this is a place that I have to visit again. The only bad thing about this place is the staff is kind of rude, I requested a couple of time a simple request and the waiter gives me attitude.

The best Napoletana style pizza I had in Rome! The city of Rome is not exactly known for their good pizza. Most of the restaurants only serve Roman dishes which includes mostly pastas. The few pizzas you usually find on the menus, are not exactly the best and they are catered to tourists. Dar Poeta is different because they specializes in pizza and calzones....and they are the best in the city! Another amazing thing about Dar Poeta is that they are open a little later than most restaurants, which makes it a great spot to stop by after a few cocktails. During my visit to Dar Peta, I had the pizza with prosciutto, cheese, and salami. My pizza was everything I could've asked for! The flavor of the meats, the cheese, the dough....everything was just perfect! My husband had a little of my pizza and agreed that it was so much better than his hahaha. I'll be back!

You wont be disappointed with the pizza here, its one the best pizza spots in all of Rome. It's mostly the fact that the ingredients are so fresh and of the highest quality that they raise the pizza up to elite status. This is the perfect pizza, from cheese to crust to toppings to the bottom of your belly! Make sure to get your own entire pizza, cuz I guarantee you will not want to share it!!

My favorite pizza in Rome yet. A cute and quaint spot that has a great ambiance and even better food. Their pizza is fluffier than traditional Roman pizza, which I loved. My server recommended the buffala mozzarella pizza, but they are also known for their carbonara pizza. Will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

Best pizza I've had in Trastevere, Rome, Italy ! The margarita pizza is so good and a very reasonable price!

This is one of the best places I ate at while in Rome and some of the best pizza I've ever had. The service was wonderful, from the hostess to the waitress to the owner who helped out with things as it got busy. And this place is busy. I ate here around 6pm one day and around noon another and didn't have a problem getting a table either time, but the restaurant filled up really quickly for dinner. The tables are pretty close together so don't expect it to be super spacious unless you're 4+ people and have a whole section to yourself, but I didn't mind the intimacy. (Makes for a good time soaking in what's going on around you!) The bufala pizza was by far my favorite and was one of the ones recommended by the waitress. I also tried the prosciutto crudo and the amatriciana pizza another day and the prosciutto was unforgettable.... plus it was a HUGE plate of it. You'll need to share, or not if you're solo and are going all out. The amatriciana pizza was good but extra saucy, so I'd get another kind if you're not huge on sauce. I still dream about this place often... will 100% return when I'm back in Rome.

We showed up at about 9pm on a Saturday night without a reservation. We were told it would be a 40 min wait when we put our name in. It was about that much time. They sat us inside on the main floor near the wall. It was a good temp versus being outside which would have been too hot and too crowded with people waiting. Wow- best whole pizza of the trip!!! I wanted 1/2 mushroom and half arugula but they said no. So my friend got Margherita with arugula and I got mushroom. I admit I broke my rule and came back. This time we were a large party of 5 and they seated us downstairs. It was cooler but there were two families and one had loud bad children. The pizza was still awesome though!

In all my years of living, I've consumed a lot of pizza. Some were good, some were okay, and some were amazing. This place is even better than amazing, in my opinion. I've never had a better pizza as in this was the best pizza I've ever had in my whole life and that's saying a lot. My friend who is traveling abroad in Rome recommended this place to me and I honestly can't thank her enough. I came in around 6:30pm with my friend and the place was empty - thank goodness, because I heard this place fills up QUICK, and it did! Around 7pm, the tables were filled and people were already waiting around. I ordered the bufala pizza and my friend ordered the dar poeta pizza. The bufala pizza had mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil on it. It was truly so delectable and I cry just thinking about it knowing I won't be able to eat it again until I go back to Rome. The crust was out of this world good, even with al the toppings and olive oil on top of the pizza, the crust stayed crispy and perfectly chewy. The bufala mozzarella was unreal and so fresh. The pizza sauce was like crack to me... I seriously was tempted to buy another pizza. My friend enjoyed the dar poeta pizza, but I personally think the bufala pizza beat it out of the park. I seriously will recommend this place to everyone who goes to Rome. BEST PIZZA EVER. BUFALA PIZZA IS A MUST!!

The Romans KNOW pizza. I've had pizza in Napoli, which was awesome in it's own right, but this place is something else. Maybe it's the small neighborhood charm. Or the ambience added by the wandering musicians who'd stop and sing Italian classics on guitar. This was the best pizza I've ever had. Order the Super Bufala or the Dar Poeta. Either will change your life. Seriously. I'm still dreaming about it.
