Darjeeling Cafe Varkala

Tried a mix of dishes here and the food was genuinely very good. Pork was soft, prawns fry was nice, and the fish wrapped in banana leaf was excellent with really flavorful masala. Chicken noodles were tasty too. On the veg side, we had pizza, noodles, soup, and rolls — all the usual favorites — and everything was good. We had to buy a ₹500 coupon per person to enter the café at night, but with the prices here, it easily gets adjusted in the bill. Live music was very nice and added to the vibe, though the dance floor was completely empty, silently waiting for brave souls to start the party 😄 Overall, tasty food, good music, and a lively atmosphere with a shy dance floor.

We had been to this cafe to have dinner. This is further down the cliff. The Ambience was good at the table and the view would have been really good during the day. The service was average at best. Food was fine only 1 item wasn't cooked well but we gave it back and got another replacement. The drinks were just okay. Overall would not recommend this place to others.

We had heard a lot about the café before visiting, so expectations were fairly high, but unfortunately, it did not live up to them. The only truly good thing about the café is the view. The location is scenic, and the surroundings are pleasant, which makes it a decent spot to sit for a while and take photos. However, beyond the view, there isn’t much that stands out. The drinks were particularly underwhelming. We tried a few options, but none of them tasted good or refreshing. They felt poorly made and lacked flavor, which was quite disappointing for a café that is known mainly for its vibe. The food menu does offer a reasonable number of options, so variety is not an issue here. However, when it comes to taste, the food was just average. Nothing we ordered felt special or memorable, and it certainly didn’t justify the hype or the prices. Compared to other cafés and restaurants in Varkala, the quality of food here felt below par. Overall, Darjeeling Cafe feels extremely overhyped. If you are someone who values good food and drinks, this place might leave you unsatisfied. While the view is nice and might be worth a short visit, there are many better options in Varkala that offer both great taste and a pleasant ambience. In my opinion, this café is not worth the hype and can easily be skipped unless you’re visiting purely for the view.

PLZ AVOID THIS PLACE ! If you don't want to spoil your mood then avoid this place .. They charge 2000 for hukka and 250 for changing coal and Shesha we ordered was not the flavor we ordered for we asked waiter he said you will get like this only ... They serve very very cheap liquors Holy water is beer cheap Kingfisher for 500rs I ordered whiskey which was name W.I in menu for 30ml 400rs But the biggest joke was they served Green lable which is very cheap alcohol around 500-600 per bottle wen I asked waiter to change to some another better brand he said they only serve this. We ordered prawns briyani which was stinking we told waiter to check he was like it's very fresh and we serve like this only ... Everything is overpriced and no quality no hospitality

The food was delicious, with fresh ingredients and great flavors in every dish. The ambience of the café was equally impressive — calm, cozy, and perfect for spending quality time with friends or family. The staff were polite and the service was smooth, which added to the overall experience. If you’re looking for a spot with both good food and a pleasant atmosphere, Darjeeling Café is definitely worth visiting.

I tried their mango juice and Hot Panjabi burger. The mango juice was nice and cold. The burger was decent - filling and tasty enough. But honestly, the view is why u go there. The beach looks incredible from the cafe. Really peaceful. One thing - try to go when it's not too crowded. U'll actually get to enjoy the beach view without fighting for a seat. Good spot for a quick bite with a nice view.

I visited Darjeeling Café, North Cliff, Varkala after seeing all the hype on social media. While the location is beautiful, that’s the only positive. The food quality is extremely disappointing compared to the prices they charge. It honestly feels like they are just charging premium rates without offering anything in return. The service is pathetic—it felt like being served at a roadside stall, or even worse. The staff was not welcoming at all. We ordered a few items. The momos were bad and were served with Schezwan chutney instead of proper momos chutney, which was very disappointing. When you pay good money for food, you expect quality and effort, but that was completely missing here. Since we were full, we asked the staff to parcel the pizza. Not only was it handled carelessly, but the pizza was not even packed in a pizza box—it was just wrapped in aluminium foil, which felt extremely unprofessional and frustrating. Overall, this place is all about charging money but delivering nothing in return—not food, not service, not hospitality. Pathetic experience. Would not recommend.

Food here was tasty and of good quality. But the service was not so great. Could improve. They could have a dedicated smoking zone instead of smoking at the tables because there are many non smokers too who come for the view but are irritated by public smoking. For desserts go to “Bad Habits” downstairs.
