This coffee shop is really nice—the staff are super friendly and welcoming, and the overall vibe is great. I enjoyed my drink and felt very comfortable hanging out here. The only thing I’d point out is that it gets pretty hot inside, which makes it a little hard to relax for too long. Other than that, it’s a lovely spot and I’d definitely come back.

The atmosphere is really nice but the coffee was horrible! They did a cortado in a massive cup and I’m assuming they just went with a longer shot or they just poured more milk and it tasted very off like a burnt rubber and the aftertaste went away so quick. Also there was an Asian lady there who was very rude and talked with an attitude when I was touching one of their cup to demonstrate if they do a cortado in that. i mean it’s just a cup but she was like : Dont touch it! I’d come back for the place but will never try the coffee!

This Dark Horse location surprised me in the best way. The staff wasn’t great. Not rude to the point of being offensive, just low energy and not particularly welcoming. But everything they offer in their store pantry is impressive. Tons of sustainable, vegan, and gluten-free options. Really thoughtful stuff. I respect that. What makes this spot stand out is the space around it — 401 Richmond Street. It’s this incredible complex with fine art galleries, mixed-media exhibitions, and a courtyard that feels like its own world. It was one of those accidental discoveries that completely shifts your day. Walking around the space was honestly the highlight. I ordered a flat white with coconut milk, and it was solid. No complaints there. Overall, the vibe of the location carries the experience. Cool menu, great environment, just wish the staff brought a little more to the table.

The coffee I'd give a 4, and the americano a 3, but we had a mixed berry muffin that was inedible. I did accidentally get a vegan muffin - so that was my mistake - but I've had them before and eaten them. This one I could not, nor could my wife Enjoyed the coffee and environment though. :)

Great café with top tier atmosphere, but the service staff there are what truly make it spectacular. Jelita/Jay in particular has always gone above and beyond to make sure I feel special every time I visit, and this is why I’ve joined the loyalty program + have been a repeat customer 30+ times in the last two months. Cheers. Bring back the seasonal raspberry scone (to all seasons), it’s the best food on the menu.

I recently visited Dark Horse Espresso Bar, a charming coffee shop located at 401 Richmond St West in the 401 Richmond Building. During my visit, I ordered a delicious latte and a delectable dessert, which unfortunately I don't know the name of. However, I encourage you to check the image I shared to see for yourself. The dessert I enjoyed at Dark Horse Espresso Bar was an absolute delight. It featured a decadent combination of chocolate brownie and perfectly roasted marshmallows. The flavors harmonized beautifully, creating a memorable treat that left me craving more. In addition to their delightful desserts, Dark Horse Espresso Bar offers a wide selection of beverages. I am already contemplating my next visit to this coffee shop, eager to explore their other enticing options and expand my palate. The ambiance of the coffee shop is inviting, with a cozy atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for a relaxing break or a casual meet-up with friends. The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant experience from the moment I walked in.

I’ve been avoiding the is cafe as much as I can because the service, the staff are often rude or impossible to get a smile or any kindness out of. I’ll admit I’m a codependent people pleaser which is why I just avoid the cafe, but every now and then being stretched for time I’ll engage and order a coffee. Well today there were two were two folks I had never seen before! And they slayed, funny kind WELCOMING and the crème on my coffee I didn’t even know their machines were capable of such beauty.

Love this Dark Horse Cafe for its ambience! It is difficult to find a quiet, laid back place in Downtown. But this Dark Horse cafe at Richmond street is a hidden gem in Downtown with cozy and casual vibe and a pleasing inviting environment. It is good for coffee and espresso but there aren’t much brunch options here. However, you can snack on to their pastries and breads with your coffee.
