DARK TOWER COMICS - LOGAN SQUARE

It's looking really nice after the switch to Dark Tower. There's been a lot of improvements very quickly and new layout is much more welcoming. They've got some great new dice in and I'm happy to Magic getting some attention again. (Plus there's Pat!)

I’ve attended two magic events at this location and had wonderful experiences. The host of the events was friendly and the crowd was welcoming. They have draft events on Friday and Sunday at a cost of $25 with prizes depending on wins. Based on my experience, their payout is usually pack per win with top player also getting promo pack. Would attend one of their events in the future.

I've been going to this location for years, even back before Dark Tower took over. While the changes haven't been universally good (discounts for pull lists have been reworked for instance), it's still the same overall welcoming community nerd hub in Logan Square that it's always been for me. (Also, the store looks much better now after Dark Tower) The staff has always been approachable for me, and has at times been willing to engage in some idle chat, answer questions or provide recommendations. They've got a discord now, which has been usually pretty responsive when it comes to answering questions or even placing orders. I've ordered multiple books from them and never had an issue with the quality of what I received. My favorite aspect about the store is definitely the events. They have a large back room which they've made available in the past for things like magic the Gathering nights, or for D&D meetups. (BYODM) I've met a lot of great people this way, and still run my own campaign from there every week. As far as I know, attendance has dipped across the board post pandemic, but the events are still being run, open to all, and they appear to be open to running even more.

Came to Chicago for MagicCon from California, only found that the badges were sold out (2 weeks before the opening!). Well at least we get FNM at local game stores and here we are: located conveniently near the subway station and good restaurants, humbly welcoming a visitor like myself, I found the Dark Tower. The store is spacious, filled with comics and Midwest hospitality, just what I needed for a good game night. The games were smooth and the staff was helpful. Things could get even better with a sip of some local beer but I didn’t indulge that much - gotta need that brain for my victory, which didn’t come but close enough. Around midnight, I walked away with my prizes and happy as a child.

I’ve been wanting to go here for my new Wednesday comics but they refuse to answer if it is okay to bring my dog. I tried to ask on phone and was put on hold then hung up on. I recommend just avoiding this place especially if you are disabled (they show no understanding or respect for disabled persons)

Showed up at 11:20 am on a Saturday to bring my kiddo to her first comic book store, place was completely closed despite their sign saying they open at 11. Really frustrating and disappointing.

Great store with a good crowd for Magic the Gathering on Sundays.

Not really a comic shop pro. I got back into reading comics during COVID, but mostly digital and after a while it turned into buying physical stuff. G-Mart (the previous shop that occupied this space) was very close to me so it was my go to shop. I found their online ordering setup a bit old school, but man what I wouldn't give to have that back. At least G-Mart would send you e-mails updating you on your order. The Dark Tower system is definitely more modern, but there's no real notifications unless I'm missing something. No more discounts on subs either which is a real kick in the dick. I pre-ordered a comic months in advance, again no real e-mail communication. Showed up on the release date and they just straight up didn't have it. The good thing is they don't charge you ahead of time like G-Mart did. Luckily Challengers had it in stock though! The other day I got a new releases e-mail for the first time in the history of the store becoming Dark Tower and it's just some dudes name instead of Dark Tower so I thought it was junk. I dunno man, I usually like the real local mom and pop feel of stores because everything is a shitty chain these days, but this place may be a little too mom and pop. Hopefully I've just had bad luck with them but I'm back to a digital only comic reader for the time being.

I will begin here, the original location was G-Mart comics until the original owner retired and sold the location. G-Mart is only online now. Very clean location, plenty of space. The setup is different, but still had a good selection comics to funko pops, games, collectibles and more. Very friendly staff, greeted once coming in. The game room in the back is still available. The value of the comics are at a good price. No complaints. I was sad to see G-Mart comics go, but I am glad it stayed comic shop. I wish Dark Tower comics so much success. I will be back soon.

They Have a Huge Selection of Comics :) Excellent Service Staff was Friendly :) I would shop here Again. I believe they Have Game Nights as Well for Magic the Gathering
