Darkwood Beach Bar and Restaurant

Quiet when visited and spent 5 hours at the beach, enjoyed Talapia fish burger and the lobster sub both served with chips. The fish burger was extremely good and the sub had a nice amount of lobster. We found the staff to be very friendly and knowledge on any food queries. Shout out to Steven who looked after us! 3 bottles of beer, cocktail, and mocktail, food as mentioned, 2 loungers/umbrella inc service GBP 70.00. This bar has received mixed reviews unfairly in my opinion, maybe due to sheer numbers of people visiting during high season and creating a knock on effect for food wait times. Parking areas available.

We just stopped for a few minutes to view the Darkwood Beach while on a taxi tour around the island off our cruise ship. Beautiful water and food that our driver bought smelled yummy. He called his food “mixed rice” which is rice mixed with chicken and beef. Not sure what price is since I didn’t see it on any menu online.

Darkwood Beach is a slice of paradise in Antigua. The water is as calm. Perfect for a soothing swim. The sand is a dream under your feet, white, fine, and impossibly soft, like powdered sugar. And when you're ready for a break from the sun, the beach bar restaurant is your oasis. The drinks are refreshing & delicious, while the staff makes you feel right at home with their warmth and great service. It's an experience that encapsulates the best of island life. Come here in the evening to enjoy the sunset. It’s breathtaking.

We didn't like the attitude of the guys here so we went on to the next umbrella rental place where they had much better energy. The chicken is not the only jerk on this island. Pricewise it's all about the same, but we moved on just because bad vibes. The beach itself was just OK, a strong break and hellishly scorching HOT at the peak of day, like lasers in your skin hot. Saw a few people struggle to get in and out of the water. There's also one of those gigantic ugly playground things and other man-made edifices providing visual pollution. Next time we come here definitely would choose a different beach.

An absolutely stunning location with a good beach. The water park is great fun and good value too. We were lucky enough to have Darkwood on our doorstep during our stay in Antigua and we definitely plan to return. The food, drinks and service provided at the beach bar were all really good and reasonably priced too. A great place to stay or visit when on holiday in Antigua!

We went here to enjoy the sunset and we loved it ! The place is nice and gives you the friendly atmosphere. It's a simple place, not too flashy, but we love the crush and the drinks they offer. The service is fast and the girls are very friendly as well. I enjoyed my coconut crush, although I asked for soursop one, which unfortunately was gone. The crush in fresh and not too sweet, as I like it. The beach is lovely as well. Not too crowded, at least by the time we visited this place.

It's hard to give a beach and restaurant five stars, so I won't. But I can give an enthusiastic four. Beautiful, uncrowded sand. Perfect water. Excellent menu ... try the jerk chicken sandwich! Service was snappy ... Shawndon was very attentive and generous. Bathrooms were clean, too. Great place for sun or rain ... on a chair under an umbrella or sheltered in the restaurant. Thanks for a very nice day!
