10 Best Ski Lodges & Resorts to Stay at Around the World - AFAR

"Deck after deck of wellness experiences are on offer in the new wing of this sprawling Alpine-style resort. It’s positioned at the foot of Grossarltal-Dorfgastein Ski Area, with 18 lifts, 494 acres, and more than 25 miles of skiable piste with wide slopes and reliable snow. Book one of the 17 new Family Suites, with their knotty wood paneling and large terraces; they have extra space for groups with gear. The family wellness area includes more than a dozen pools, including a three-story waterslide and kid’s area, while a subdued new adults-only spa features relaxing rooms, infrared saunas, fragrant steam rooms, and multiple thermal baths where you can gaze out at the surrounding Alps." - Adam H. Perfect !|Super nice staff, really the friendliest people ever. Edelweiss is a large hotel, but yet cosy - not posh. It is a high quality, modern hotel, super well kept and very clean. . Great beds with soft sheets, very comfortable. Inventive and well chosen interior design. |Absolutely great food too||There's only 1 downside : a complete lack of signs or maps on the walls, indicating where you're at - and were to go. As it is a big place, and very similar looking everywhere, and with several pools on different floors : rather confusing to find you way around.. but other than that : super nice, all of it.

Super Hotel for family vacation - cosy and convenient room, stylish interior, friendly and helpful staff, delicious food, wonderful spa area, fun water park and lovely swimming pools. Perfect location- Convenient access to the hotel from the train station and hotel ski in/ ski out. We like this place very much and definitely come back soon.

The property itself was decent, and the location was convenient, but unfortunately, the experience did not justify the price. The service from the staff was below expectations—there seemed to be a lack of professionalism and attentiveness, which significantly impacted my stay. For the rate charged, I expected much better service and overall value. While there are some redeeming qualities, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again unless improvements are made.

Wow, this family run hotel surpassed all expectations. We all likened it to a a cross between Sandy Lane, Barbados for the casual friendly factor and Gleneagles, Scotland as it had so much for everyone to do. It is very special indeed.||Service is slick and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The owners can be seen working in the hotel daily so they really have their fingers on the pulse, know every guest and everything that is going on.||It is an incredibly well run hotel located right next to the ski lift. Everything is made easy for you. Ski hire in the hotel is exceptional with brand new equipment. You are given your own heated locker for the duration of your stay. Everything is spotlessly clean. We stayed the week before Christmas and whilst there was snow not all the blue runs were open, so skiing was a little limited.||We booked a two bedroom family suite and a couple of classic rooms for our parents. The rooms have all been recently renovated. They are modern and comfortable. The two bedroom suite worked really well for us as a family having the two bedrooms, two bathrooms and lounge. Be warned the classic rooms have open plan bathrooms which would not have worked for us but if there is only one person in the room its fine. ||The hotel has an excellent spa spread over five floors and we made use of it every day. My children loved chilling in the family spa on the swinging chairs and using the sauna and steam room before going outside and lying in the snow. The family pool is glorious and the slides spotlessly clean and so much fun. The adult area is like nothing I have ever experienced before - and I have stayed in a lot of beautiful spa hotels. It is exquisite. I had one of the best facials I have had for a long long time. My skin came out decongested and glowing. Even my eyebrows got plucked to perfection in the process. The indoor outdoor pool in the top floor is very special. ||The facilities for children (including teenagers ) is superb. My children spent hours in the high tech games room and equally enjoyed the jungle gym in the basement. They were thrilled when they worked out both rooms were connected. Even us adults enjoyed spending time playing on the games. ||Meal times were a treat. Breakfast is a huge spread with everything your heart could desire ( although my daughter and I did wish they would turn on the cream machine at breakfast so we could have cream with our pancakes…… but maybe its a good thing it is off!) I defy anyone to come home weighing the same as they did at the start of the holiday! Evening meals were included in our package. I was a little sceptical of this thinking the food would not be so good but there was a huge choice, something for everyone from fine dining to comfort food. Everything is cooked fresh and is delicious. Even my vegetarian daughter and celiac mother were well catered for. If what my children wanted wasn’t on the menu, it was not a problem, the chef would make them what they wanted. Plus there is also the salad buffet to fill up on. The hotel gives you a table which is yours for the duration of your stay which makes life simpler as it means no matter what time you come down for breakfast your table is always there. We also had the same waiter, I wish I could remember his name, he was brilliant and we really enjoyed his humorous nature. He charmed everyone and had us giggling at the same time!||You have probably got the idea by now that we LOVED our stay. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. We cant wait to return.

Absolutely fell in love with Das Edelweiss and hope to be back many times. The property is nestled in stunningly beautiful, snow covered mountains, the facility is impeccably clean with well-maintained rooms, restaurants, and spa facilities, and the staff is warm and professional. There are two ski slopes adjacent to the hotel with a convenient shop/ storage setup. Overall, an amazing experience.

My husband and I stayed at the beautiful Hotel Edelweiss in Grossarl in July, and it was a flawless experience. As Italians, we truly appreciated the warm and exceptional hospitality that made us feel right at home. The hotel itself is stunning, with a relaxing atmosphere where nothing is missing—it’s the perfect place to unwind.||The food was fantastic, with every meal a true delight, and the staff were friendly and incredibly well-organized, ensuring every detail was taken care of. Special thanks to Marina, our wonderful waitress, who was always welcoming and attentive, and to Mario, the bartender, who made our evenings memorable with his skillfully crafted drinks. Karin Hettegger, the owner, personally visited each table every evening, which added a wonderfully personal touch to our experience.||The reception staff also suggested a visit to Salzburg, which turned out to be a highlight of our trip—an incredible recommendation we’re so glad we followed!||For anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing getaway, Hotel Edelweiss is an outstanding choice. We couldn’t recommend it more!"

Starting with the online booking straight on their website, the customer service of all the staff was amazing. Went in early February, for 7 days, so of course for skiing. Rental for skis and the lockers for your equipment all right there. The staff recommended ski lessons also were great. Ski passes at reception and everything you need, just very convenient down to the modern hair dryers in the room. Booked a junior suite that was perfect for a family of 3 - 2 adults and a child. Wi-Fi was strong all throughout. Heated floors by the sink and shower. And also a high-tech toliet. Comfy beds and pillows too. Pools and water slides. All of them amazing. Just note the opening and closing times. Still not sure how they kept all the towels warm after the pool. Only thing I would add is maybe water / sparkling water to be somewhere. Maybe I missed it too. The breakfast and dinner and drinks were excellent! lunch was not included but the wagyu burger and sushi are highly recommended. As are many of the cocktails! The onsite shop is also very cool and an amazing and helpful young woman Eileen. She was very knowledgeable and great customer service. I recommend the bracelets, as they are great to remember the place by! But besides ski clothes they do have some coffee / tea cups for sale. I would say the only minor things would be having to sign receipts each morning from either the bar or drinks from dinner and that you had to request to restock the fridge. All of that is very minor at the end of the day. All in all a wonderful experience and look forward to going back more. One of the best hotels I have stayed at. Thanks for the memories!

We had a wonderful stay with the kids. Perfect place for both adults (there are plenty of adults only areas) and kids - kids spa with water slides and swimming pool. Food is good. Plenty of outdoor activities too. Great spa with treatments. We were here during the Autumn holidays (Bayern). Would happily come back.
