Das Kronthaler (Tyrol, Austria) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Alpine experience is all about landscape — limpid mountain lakes, soaring evergreens, and some of the most iconic summits on the planet. Das Kronthaler, a ski-in/ski-out fixture towards the German side of Austria’s western corridor, makes the most of its setting. There’s guided hiking at various levels of difficulty, mountain biking, skiing of all varieties, golf, and tobogganing. Then there’s paragliding, horseback riding, Nordic walking, and a slew of watersports in and around the nearby Achensee in the summer months. And, come winter, there’s plenty of skiing." - Tablet Hotels

Our 2nd stay at Das Kronthaler and we still loved it. Breakfast buffet is my absolute favourite, and it's open till 11am which is wonderful. Spa area is still lovely and the room was comfortable and cosy. The ladies who serviced our room as well as our first dinner and breakfasts were warm, friendly and very helpful. I did notice some staff from the bar and breakfast were really not having a good mood, and were not so friendly towards us. I think this isn't so nice given that it's a holiday destination where people come to relax and enjoy. One of us unfortunately got food poisoning, likely from the fish dish during our second dinner, we informed the hotel during check out where they apologised.

The hotel has a lovely view over the valley and the surrounding mountains. Frienly staff. We got an upgrade, having booked an M room to a larger room, number 008. This room was located in a corner and al the views are blocked by trees. We asked to change to another room and got 101 with a great view, very clean and with a large bathroom. Breakfast is mostly very healthy... a bit too healthy for our liking. Diner is gourmet food, meaning mini-portions that look like small paintings. Very good though ! There is nothing wrong with the hotel but it wasn't for us. There is no cosy atmosphere, we just did'nt get the right feeling and it us too expensive for what you get.

A year later and we still have really good memories on Das Kronthaler. Staff is suberp, they even set our table everyday mirrored because we are both left handed. The breakfast was outstanding, diner everyday was great. Room beautifull, comfortable and stunning view. The saunas and pool were perfect after a day on the slopes. Great ski-in ski-out location.

I stayed at this hotel for a three day work trip and was so impressed. The rooms are absolutely incredible and the view from the balcony was nothing short of breathtaking. I could’ve spent all day just staring out at that view! It’s in a very quiet location and all you can hear is the birds and nature in general. The rooms are huge and come with everything you could possibly need. The beds were very comfortable. We had dinner in the hotel every night and the food and service was exceptional. The staff were incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thank you!

Pros: ||||Having been here before, but a several years back, I can notice some changes.. now they have a proper lunch concept, in addition to fantastic breakfast and dinners. The staff is excellent, easy switches to English at any point of time. Great wine recommendations at the dinner time. Excellent and super fast service. Wonderful views and environment. Excellent wellness facilities. ||||Cons:||||Parking is a bit tight to find and wi-fi coverage sometimes suffers. The most value is for single visitors as you literally pay half the price, not for couples. Sad they don't allow kids under 10, which makes impossible to come as a family visit.

My wife and I stayed here very recently and found this hotel to be very nice indeed. ||The region is one of the most breathtaking scenic spots anywhere in the world. ||The drive up to the hotel gives you a great sense of anticipation and first impressions do not disappoint. Check-in at reception was excellent, friendly, quick and informative. ||We declined the show round but it's a nice touch for people who want it. We then had a drink in the bar which was very good. The decor here is a bit of a mish mash and obviously it has become quite dated, but it is also a personal like or dislike thing. For us it was a dislike. ||Then we went to our room and even though we were in the lowest room category, they were spacious, bright and quiet. Having stayed in countless hotels around the world there has to be a special mention for the shower - AMAZING! ||The Spa is simply stunning and has to be one of the best indoor/outdoor pools we have ever seen - only downside is there is a shortage of loungers. In high season this must be a challenge. ||Now the restaurant. The food is fantastic. The service though is a bit strange as it doesn't correlate with the rest of the hotel. Everything to this point was relaxing but I found the restaurant service quite intrusive. I don't understand why an order for your whole meal isn't taken at the beginning. It's asked between every course. Why? The waiter just keeps interrupting conversation. It's very odd. The breakfast buffet is excellent, although a little over complicated. The juice selection is wonderful, I had an apple and pear juice but the guest before me had carrot juice so therefore my juice ended up with remnants of carrot. No one on hand to keep this area clean. There should be simple juices for people who want to avoid this. ||The hotel has its own personal chapel which is stunning and a roof top bar which we will go to properly next time. ||During our trip unfortunately both us became sick (nothing because of hotel - just bad timing!). The staff were so helpful for both of us and we were very grateful for the help and support they gave us. ||Would have been a five if not for the weird manner in how dinner service is done. A great hotel we will be back.
