Das Traunsee

One of the most memorable hotels that I have ever stayed at. Incredible hospitality, quality, and a sense of seclusion and personalization that is hard to find. The views are beautiful and the food is excellent. This is a gem and my wife and I can’t wait to come back.

An exceptional stay from start to finish. From the moment we arrived until we left we were treated with the outmost respect, professionalism and warmth from every member of staff. The rooms are extremely comfortable and elegant. The view onto Traunsee is breathtaking. The breakfast is by far among the best we have ever had in all our travels around the world - extraordinary variety and abundance of local products. A true pleasure to have drinks at the bar! And the restaurant - Bootshaus - is one of the best in Austria. A choice of 5-, 6- or 7-course dinner is offered, which is truly worth trying, no matter which one you choose. A great spa which will soon be expanded into their second hotel location, which is 2 minutes away. Superb approach to genuine customer service and hospitality. Well done Traunsee - Hotel Zum See, don't ever change!

Amazing family run hotel, with exceptional breakfast and dinner. Very intimate spa area with beatiful views on the lake and the best part is that you can take a cold plunge in the lake after the sauna. Amazing place just to relax and let the steam out. My only remark is that the rooms especially the bathroom in the standard rooms need renovation they feel a bit rundown and nothing is written in english.

This is most likely, the best place on Lake Traunsee. We took a boat around and didn't see another property with equally stunning character. Almost everything is perfect about the place. Yes, it is that beautiful and much more in person. The food excellent, the vibe is relaxing, and the amenities are super clean and robust. Even their gym is great. This review is simply to give you a few things you may want to be mindful of: 1. If it is hot, you will be very uncomfortable sleeping. The rooms are not designed for cross ventilation. There is no AC. It gets very humid there since you are on the lake. We had some of worst sleep because of this. The staff tried to help and even brought us a dehumidifier to help. But, to use it requires shutting the windows, which makes it even more stuffy. 2. Our beds were very soft. We had awful back pain from sleeping here. So, it was hot and poor quality beds. They are foam beds I think and this makes you even more hot. Maybe they have firmer beds in other units. We sank in ours and our bodies bent. 3. We paid for parking ahead of time. But, someone took our spot. When we told this to the front desk and showed them a photo of someone in our spot, they didn't care or take action. We squeezed the car against the bushes and acquired some significant scratches on the rental car. Over the two days, we never got our parking spot back. 4. Service is perfunctory Maybe it is a cultural difference. We were in five countries, and this location had those most "who cares" attitude towards us. For example, you can be the only person at a bar and they will just ignore you until you request a drink. It is a very awkward experience. They are not mean or rude. It is just not a welcoming sense. You really have to lobby to get what you need. Again, it could be cultural. We would go back again, but maybe during a cooler time of year and request a room with a firmer bed. Regardless, we have fond memories of enjoying the facilities such as the deck and location.

We spent five days at "Das Traunsee" in order to go hiking in the Salzkammergut. The hotel is located at the lake "Traunsee" with a beautiful view onto the water and the mountains from the rooms, the spa and the dining rooms. A gourmet restaurant is located in the hotel ("Bootshaus") and so the half board is exceptionally good. We have never eaten so well in a hotel. Lukas Nagl and his team use local and seasonal products to create delicious meals. If you like fish, this is the place to go. |The spa is also really beautiful with super views to the lake. If you feel like it, you can jump into the lake after going to the steam bath or the sauna. |Our stay was perfect although the weather was not good. So we definitely will come back soon!

Superb hotel with excellent facilities, sublime food and kind, attentive, professional staff. Beautiful surroundings, easy to get to in wonderful countryside. Great walking and biking, then super relaxing spa. Would totally recommend this hotel.

Very nice stay. The room, the food, the view, the hotel employees, everything was spotless. I highly recommend this place. We had a day dream suite room with a view at the lake, the room had bathtub, shower, a perfect bed for relaxing and a balcony . The food was very good and the personal of the hotel was very polite and helpfull. It is a place where you will come back for sure!

Superb waterfront location and easy walk to train station if coming by public transport. Room is spacious and with a view. Early October is cold for swimming in the lake but I enjoyed the spa facilities. We had a nice dinner at the sister hotel as the restaurant was hosting an event. A good selection of everything for breakfast.

I did not stay here, but I was in town for a week and ate and drank at this hotel as well as the Hotel Post. I must say that the service and staff at the Hotel Post were much nicer on several occasions. The Seehotel seemed to be much more interested in servicing the organized groups they had staying at the hotel than they did any other customer.
