Manikarnika Ghat, located in Varanasi, is a profound and spiritually enriching destination. Visiting this iconic ghat was an unforgettable experience. As one of the oldest and holiest cremation sites in India, the atmosphere is deeply reflective and awe-inspiring. The continuous rituals and sacred ceremonies around the ghat evoke a sense of reverence and respect for life and death. The sight of the Ganges flowing peacefully beside the ghat, with the ancient temples and shrines surrounding it, adds to the sense of tranquility. Despite the intensity of the surroundings, there is a unique calmness in the air. The people and their unwavering devotion only enhance the significance of the place. I found myself reflecting on the deeper meaning of life, surrounded by an energy that is hard to put into words. It was a humbling and enriching experience that I will never forget.

Undoubtedly most famous ghat in Varanasi. Famous for ganga aarti. Walking down the ghats is a beautiful experience, specially in the morning or evening. Heritage structures and the Ganges flowing near by. It has got vibes. Cleanliness should be addressed by the authorities, ghats are not very clean.

" Benaras is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend and looks twice as old as all of them put together" - Mark Twain The Dashashwamedh Ghat symbolizes the true spirit of Benaras. The old world charm , religious & historical significance and a blend of modernism. A kaleidoscope of colors , chaos, and devotion. There is definitely something about this place that will make you think about life , much beyond our perceived 9 to 5. Now, coming to the ways & means of opting for boat rides and visiting the Ghats. The Dashashwamedh Ghat is famous for its evening Aarti. There is the option of either being in the Ghat or being on a boat and seeing the Aarti. The crowd is huge. I suggest being at the Ghat by 3:30 pm and securing a spot so that one can see the Aarti in close proximity. If you are opting for a boat ride, it's better to complete the ride early on and secure a good spot to watch the Aarti without much hindrance. The Aarti lasts for 45 minutes. It's beautiful. It's so nice to see so many people gathered around from all walks of life to witness the prayer offered to the Ganges. There are no tickets required to watch. At least this is what it was in 2023.

Dashashwamedh Ghat is the main ghat in Varanasi on the Ganga River in Uttar Pradesh. It is located close to Vishwanath Temple and is probably the most spectacular ghat. The present ghat was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao in the year 1748. A few decades later, Ahilyabahi Holkar, the Queen of Indore rebuilt the ghat in the year 1774.[1] Close to the ghat, overlooking the Ganga lies the Jantar Mantar, an observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh of Jaipur in the year 1737. Ganga Aarti (ritual of offering prayer to the Ganges river) is held daily at dusk. Several priests perform this ritual by carrying deepam and moving it up and down in a rhythmic tune of bhajans.[2] Special aartis are held on Tuesdays and on religious festivals. The Ganga Aarti starts soon after sunset and lasts for about 45 minutes. In summer the Aarti begins at about 7pm due to late sunsets and in winter it starts at around 6pm. Hundreds of people gather at the ghat every evening to watch the event. 2010 terror!st bombing :- 2010 Varanasi bombing On 7 December 2010, a low-intensity blast rocked the southern end of the aarti at the Sitla Ghat. This killed 2 people and injured 37 including 6 foreign tourists, and the Indian Mujahideen ( ISLAMIC TERRORIST GROUP ) claimed responsibility for it.

A famous bath gath into Ganga ji at Kashi. Aarti is also famous for this ghat. Line for Kashi Vishwanath temple starts from the road of this Ghat. Aarti view can be taken from both side one is from boat available at Ganga Ghat and other is by sitting at stairs and chairs available at Dashashwamedh Ghat. Also you can online book a ride of ships for aarti. Normal fair for aarti from boat is 200 to 500 rupees.

Experiencing the ghats of Banaras in the evening was truly magical. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the river shimmered with the golden hues of dusk, and the ghats came alive with devotion and energy. The highlight was the grand Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, where priests, dressed in traditional attire, performed synchronized rituals with blazing lamps, the air resonating with the rhythmic chants and the sound of conch shells. The fragrance of incense mingled with the cool breeze from the river, creating an atmosphere of deep spirituality. The sight of hundreds of diyas floating on the Ganges, carrying prayers and hopes, was both mesmerizing and humbling. Sitting by the steps, watching the flickering lights dance on the water, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace and connection to the timeless spirit of this sacred city.
