We Love this location, especially Carol the owner. She's so friendly and accommodating! The one exception is we recently bought 4 pre-packed Chocolate Macadamia Coconut pints, and 3 of them had partially melted and re-froze and were Icy! This was no fault of Carol's, in fact she gave us 3 replacements no questions asked! Such Great customer service! Go see Carol at the Pearl City Dave's, you won't regret it!

Come and check out the great ice cream at Dave's ice cream shop. I got rocky road and haupia. There's way more flavors to choose from and it's so yummy. Come down and check this place out... delicious!!!

Google
Went there last night. Got the banana split. I asked if the fruits were fresh, lady said yes. Got the banana split.... was not happy. Bananas were mushy, strawberries were brown!! Maybe it was preserved or something... but it was nasty brown and sour!

Elle M.

Google
Hawaiian flavors and the lady in there is very sweet .

Google
Frustrated, we usually go to the one in Aiea but went to this location tonight before closing. This is two scoops of ice cream for $22! Never again!!

Lexi Gonzalez

Google
We went here today and were the only people in the shop. What I'm assuming are the owners were very sweet. We had a delicious banana split, blueberry cheesecake icecream in a waffle cone, and some chocolate icecream with sprinkles. The place might need a little updating but overall had some great icecream.

Google
Reading other reviews of this place, I didn't have high expectations. I was pleasantly surprised with the ice cream. Place was clean, and product was delicious. Waffle cones are freshly made. Furthermore, the attendant was very courteous. I recommend Dave's over most other ice cream confectioners.

Well first impressions are everything and being my first time here I asked if I could sample before making my decision on some ice cream- I like mixing flavors in one cone. The guy (I'm guessing the owner) taught about it for a few seconds and then said yes -strange I thought. I sampled 2 flavors from the first bin near the door. I then move to the other bin and saw another 2 flavors I wanted to try. When I asked that time he replied "sample again?". I said yes, I haven't been here before and would like to try your ice cream. He then started saying that only 2 samples are allowed- no sign was posted anywhere. He reluctantly gave me the sample but made a point to say no more. I ended up getting the last 2 flavors I sampled. I won't be coming back to this shop though. First ice cream shop I ever heard of that give only 2 samples but have about 20 flavors behind the counter. If they want to stick to that logic for sampling, then they should have a satisfaction guarantee or you money back.

Yelp
So I only wanted to go to this one because my s/o said they preferred this one over aiea. After we went, he admitted he thinks he only prefers it because of nostalgia from going to blockbuster as a kid then getting ice cream here. Lol We walked in and the first thing I noticed was that it was HOT for an ice cream shop. The scoops were on the softer side, borderlining soft serve because if it. I didn't get much of an ube flavor, but the green tea definitely shined through. The cashier was an older auntie who gave us candy for Easter Sunday with the ice cream. Would probably only come back to this location if I was in the plaza for the bank or Safeway.

Claire H.

Yelp
Aside from having unique flavors, I'm not sure if the ice cream is old. Saw tiny ants running around in the perimeter of the case and the case may not be up to temp. Ice cream was very soft, gooey and gummy. The ajumma even admitted that she scraped the sides where the ice cream was dry and congealed. Asked for a replacement, but she refused. Very poor customer service and poor quality.

Yelp
I drive this place every day and finally decided to stop by. They have way more flavors than I imagined! All of them look delicious! I had the lemon custard and the mudslide. It was a little busy when I went, but the servers work hard and I didn't have to wait very long.
google avatar

Tommy C.

Yelp
I like to support local mom and pops but this ain't it. The freezer case is barely cold enough to keep the ice cream firm. It's softer than soft serve. The ajuma owner/operator is a tad abrasive. Perhaps it's a North Korean customer service style. $3.79 for a single scoop. Giving an extra star for some interesting flavors like Kona coffee, haupia, ube and kulolo.

Yelp
Located in the Pearl City Shopping Center next to Chuck E Cheese is Dave's Ice Cream. I was really craving Halo Halo and saw that Dave's Ice Cream had that on their menu so I stopped by to buy two, one for my parents and one for me. My fiancé also wanted to get a scoop of ice cream. Keep in mind that if you are paying with card, the minimum purchase is $10. We came in when there was one party ahead of us. There was just one lady working the counter who I assume was the owner. I believe her husband came out from the back, he was using the blender I guess making some drink for himself, he did not bother to help the poor lady trying to serve the customers and there was clearly a line building outside. I was really disappointed at how the Halo Halo was made. I know every place has their own rendition of a Halo Halo, but this Halo Halo was super sad. It was more of a fruit salad in a cup. Usually the fillings are at the bottom of the cup, but it was placed on top of the ice. There was more ice than there was the filling. The filling consisted of Pineapples, Jelly, some kind of frozen fruit I believe it was either peach or jackfruit, and I believe it was azuki beans. The Halo Halo was just not to my liking, I did like the big scoop of ube ice cream though. My fiancé got one scoop of the Kulolo Ice Cream, that was delicious. Their ice creams taste amazing, so I think i'll just stick to their ice cream instead.

Yelp
Yummy, Amazing Gelato style ice cream a must on Oahu! Family owned, fun for kids staff is awesome!

Yelp
Came in to a decent size amount of people were there. 2 of the girls weren't ready and told us to go. However, the one who was at the window said she help them first since they were there first. So we stated we wait. We sat down to wait to order. The girls were still not ready and the lady over looked us to the next group. That is definitely not how you do customer service anywhere. Especially when you knew they weren't ready and was going to let us the next customers there order. We got up. I mentioned we were waiting before them and walked out. Thank for that customer service. My family and I definitely will be crossing this place off our list.

Yelp
Good ice cream with a bit of a stretchy texture, not super creamy. I enjoyed the ube flavor. It melts fast which usually means there are no preservatives. Staff was efficient and answered any questions we had. It's a small shop without any seating which would be a nice addition as there isn't really anywhere outside to eat your ice cream either. We ate ours in the car.

Yelp
4/2024 This place refused to accept my $25 Dave's Ice Cream gift card. She claims that she doesn't need to participate. Uuuhh, she also washes the plastic boat for her banana split to be reused over and over again. MY SINCERE ADVICE IS DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS SLEEZY BUSINESS. I feel compelled to offer a heads up to the community. It rightfully deserves "no stars", but the one star is the lowest option. By the way, a banana split is $15.99(Double UUUGGGHH.

Yelp
Unfortunately, first time visit resulted in negative view of the place. Counter helper wasn't nice. Rude and condescending. Probably won't return due to poor treatment.

Yelp
I used to come here a lot when I was in High School. That's saying something about this business... They've been around for a long time, and even made it through everything Covid has thrown they're way too. I promised my son some ice cream one day, and brought him in, and he was so excited seeing sooo many ice cream flavors! We originality went in, and my plan was to buy a pack of the mini pre scooped cones with sprinkles for him, which I still got. But he saw the PURPLE (Ube) ice cream which intrigued him, and he needed that one! Needless to say, we got that too, especially since it's one of Mommy's favorites! Anyway, the lady working was super nice and helpful. She was having a hilarious conversation with my 2 year old son! Awesome service, friendly, and a very inviting place to stop with the keiki. Unfortunately though, there is no seating area, but that's okay, this Dave's ice cream is great, and as a place I used to go to when I was younger, I'm glad they're still here for me to bring my kids to.

Yelp
I've been to Dave's ice cream around the island and this has to be the junk one. The ice cream is pretty consistent in flavor. All of them are super good, the ones I usually get. Ice creams good, service not so good. I've been to the Pearl city one a few time because I work in the area. I'm pretty used to the Lady that's always there, kinda rude and grumpy. I dont mind because I'm just there for some Good friggin ice cream. They have a whole bunch of flavors but I usually get the Lemon Custard and the Hawaiian Mud Pie. I first gave this place a 2 star but I'll be nice and give another star because their ice cream is not too expensive and hella good. If you guys want to munch on some Yummy ice cream, try check them out. Don't mind the lady tho. Oh and another thing, don't eat your ice cream in the shop. She might yell at you.

Yelp
The owner is super nice and always friendly with the little ones. We normally come here after a day at Chuck E. Cheese and this time I was extremely exhausted which is why I was so happy to find out that they sold blended coffee. Who knew right?! She gives you a choice of French vanilla or mocha with whip cream and chocolate drizzle. I had to go for the mocha and for $5.99, it did not disappoint. The coffee drink was stronger than anything I get it Starbucks and kept me going all night long lol. My daughter always enjoys blue cotton candy which she always keeps in stock and another one of my favorites is the strawberry icee float with rainbow sherbet

Corey L.

Yelp
Great ice cream and great service. Highly recommend going here for your ice cream fix

Yelp
Located in the Pearl City Shopping Center, next to Chuck E Cheese, it is a small store. There is one person working there, so you have to be patient if there is a line. The store shares parking with the other businesses nearby, so you may need to be patient when finding parking. The waffle cone is the best for ice cream as it is made fresh daily and crunchy. They have many flavors of ice cream, and they are made in Hawaii. Recommended to give this place a try if you are in the mood for ice cream and in the area.

Yelp
I think Dave's is the only ice cream shop you could probably find a Kulolo flavor. I have been hooked on the ice cream and the shake for a long time. The price has definitely increased over the years, but I will still pay that price on occasion for it. I don't visit this location often. Its nice that its there though. Maybe once every couple of months we'll stop by on our way home from Pearlridge or something. The parking lot is tiny. We never have any problems getting a space at the times we go. Its just a quick stop anyway. I don't know much about other things the shop has available, sorry. But I still give it a high rating for the kulolo flavor anyway!
google avatar

Ahn Y.

Yelp
Super good and tasty. I love the texture of the ice cream. Great ice cream shop to cool down during this hot summer!
google avatar

Abigail Joy P.

Yelp
This is my second time here in a row and I don't regret it. I love the texture and the bits of kulolo inside. It hits the spot and I no longer have to drive to Waiahole poi factory. This is way closer for me to get too.

Yelp
Ice cream! Ice Cream! I noticed Dave's Ice Cream while entering the Pearl City Shopping Center on one December 2020 evening. Cravings are usually common with me when it comes to ice cream. I remember the Dave's Ice Cream brand when back in the early 1990's and 2000's when they were broadcasting it in between local TV shows as commercial advertisements. Dave's Ice Cream continues to thrive in the 2020's with many locations across Oahu. My visit to this location here in Pearl City was simple and cool. There was a couple of people in the store already, so I waited outside so the people in the store can finish their purchase and I can then go in. In this age of covid-19, best bet is to be patient with others and wear your face mask whenever possible to limit exposure. Once inside, the store itself is a straight up ice cream parlor with a couple of tables and chairs for patrons to enjoy. While the enjoyment factor now is only now permitted to outside the store, best bet would be to have it any time of the day whenever you feel like it. I was here on a crisp Sunday evening in December 2020. We were finishing up shopping nearby at Don Quixote and wanted something before heading home. The experience here was nice and short. It took about 10 minutes from start to finish. So many flavors to choose from!! It was a choice between green tea and chocolate. My two favorites. Dave's Ice Cream is locally owned and operated. They claim to make everything from scratch, which is always nice and welcomed. The service here is nice and friendly. The prices here are reasonable and I ended up taking home a pre-packed pint of chocolate ice cream instead of having it in a cup or cone. I feel like the pre-packed pints adds a bit more variety and portion size as compared to having it in a cup or a cone. Plus, it's less messy when you have it in a pint than a drippy mess from a cone or a cup, but that's just me though. It was cool to see the old school ice cream cartons in the displays. Reminds me of my youth and how they still have to reach down and scoop out the necessary ice cream needed for the countless orders that come thru on a particular day. The overall experience here at Dave's Ice Cream -Pearl City was nice and well needed. Ice Cream always brightens anyone's day and can bring a smile. For the most part though, it was an end to a nice weekend. If you are in the area, I would definitely recommend coming here for your sweet treat. Green tea and chocolate are awesome, but Ube is a popular one too. They have a unique mix of flavors as well as the classic ones too. Dave's Ice Cream - Pearl City is located at the Pearl City shopping center. It's physical address is 850 Kamehameha Highway in the heart of Aiea. They accept major credit cards, which is a good thing, as well as cash. Although with this entire COVID thing, best bet would be to use credit cards first for contactless payment options. As far as parking goes, Pearl City shopping center has a generous amount of parking options to choose from. Best bet would be to get here early enough to secure parking at the best location - usually in front of the store. If you are like me, bus routes 40, 42, 51, and 53 come thru the area, as well as Country Express "A". Ice cream continues to be a fan favorite, so Dave's Ice Cream thrives on its promise as being one of the best in what they do. I must admit that they are one of my favorites, since I've known them from since when I was in high school back in the early to late 1990's. Do yourself a favor and head down to this or any location of Dave's Ice Cream for a nice treat. Best thing you could do for yourself all day. 4.5 stars for the overall experience. 3.5 stars for the prices, but 5.0 stars for the ice cream itself and the friendly service. It's an old school ice cream parlor. It's awesome! Support local! B+

Yelp
Hardly go to this location. Friend and I were looking at the different ice cream flavors. Counter person was sitting down against a wall on a chair playing on his phone. Thought that was rude, as though he could careless - phone more important than our presence. Never went back.

Yelp
Dave's will always have a special place in my childhood. I remember coming to this specific location after school but slowly as the years went on it changed from what it used to be. Though they brought back the mini cones and their frozen chocolate dipped bananas, they no longer sell popcorn or ice cream sandwiches. This location is by Chuck E Cheese and Heads Up Salon, right by the stairs. Parking can get a little tricky depending on the time of day, so you may want to park upstairs by McDonalds if its that crowded. There is a minimum $10 charge if you want to use card however there are three different banks located in the same shopping center. Ice cream flavors range from the local favorites (green tea, ube, and more) to even the traditional flavors, and of course their blue/pink cotton candy. They even have new flavors such as their ice cream with mochi pieces inside. They also serve icees, smoothies, and halo halo. Prices are a little pricey (especially for items not ice cream) for what you get however ice cream is still comparable to other places. There are a few specials going on right now such as buy one scoop get one free on Tuesdays. Overall, it's just okay for an ice cream. Yup... just okay. Sad face. Just like other yelp reviews, portions have definitely became smaller over the years. On the last couple of visits, I noticed that the store kind of smelled like cigarettes. Not sure if it's the AC vents or what. Even the store closes early at times when it's slow...Also apparently you can't get sherbet in a cone anymore?! Reason? Because sherbet won't stick to the cone. Yes... that's what we were told. We were offered to get it in a cup and cone on top however there will be an additional cost. I honestly don't remember this! But on the bright side, at least their cotton ice cream hasn't changed. Sigh... for the love of ice cream...
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Good ice cream & prices, staff may not be the friendliest. Smaller scoops than you may expect but the price justifies that. Recommend you pay with cash unless your order is $10+. The building & parking lot are located on the Corner. (Mini cones looked good but I didn't try them.)

Kaya M.

Yelp
Went here the other day after we took the kids to Chuck E Cheese and just gotta say probably won't be coming back.. Customer service wasn't really there so I ended up not getting anything. When I asked them to get a malt shake they said they wouldn't make it because they're supposed to be closed already. But on their hours of operation it said they didn't close til 8 and we were there at 7.. Ice cream was alright, it was kind of melty, dont think the freezers were cold enough.
google avatar

Yelp
Need a really good cleaning, maybe new paint.. this store looks sad and need a major make-over. However, I was really craving some bubble tea after my 4 hour hair appointment next door. When I entered the store, the lady looks surprised, i almost went out of the store thinking they were closed and I was barging it.Anyway, so i ordered my regular green tea bubble tea. It was good, nothing special. I just read the review with the cockroach so I'm not sure If i'll be back to try their ice cream. They have a lot of flavors though.. hmmm.. the lady was really nice.

Yelp
Located near the Chuckecheese in Pearl City. Place is a little small. They have at least 25-30 flavors of ice cream at one time. Plus, smoothies, shave ice, ICEE and floats. Seating is small little stools enough to fit about a dozen or so patrons. My wife loves the Ube ice cream here. The smoothies is pretty good also. It overly sweet. Just a hint of pineapple. Perfect place to come by for desserts since there's pizza next door, Chinese and McDonald's all within a slight walking distance to Daves Ice Cream.

Yelp
BEST GREEN TEA ICE CREAM IVE EVER HAD. My husband had their Kona coffee & kahlua fudge and said it was heaven. They have small little cone for keiki that are just so perfect for grab and go. Love this place. It's perfect!!!
google avatar

Keri S.

Yelp
So we stop in for a sweet treat. The service was not bad. She was sweet but didn't give you that warm fuzzy feeling that you could truly sample to find the ice cream you really wanted. The kids were tradition and simple. Chocolate with rainbow sprinkles, vanilla with rainbow sprinkles, and mint chocolate chip all in a waffle cone. I had the ube (sweet potato). The ice cream was ok, nothing overly special. The place isn't very clean. I think where my biggest issues came was when the woman running the counter sat at the table next to us eating crackers and cheese and when a customer came in, she took her snack, set it on the counter where they cut fruit for smoothies, didn't wash her hands and served them. I have a pet peeve for being sanitary and that grossed me out. That was our last time there...
google avatar

Yelp
Great local flavors and amazing variety. I love that they have a multitude of flavors and an assortment of frozen treats. They have frozen desserts that you can either eat there or take home to share. This is the perfect place after spending the day bowling with friends.
google avatar

Geena W.

Yelp
I asked to sample the cotton candy...and then the ube...she took my wooden spoon and flipped it and grabbed the ube with it... 1) grosssssss she touched the side i licked and then chewed on the spoon a bit. 2) she wouldn't take my $5 because it "looked counterfeit" but it has watermarks! It's just half colored a weird color.

Yelp
The owners of Dave's Ice Cream are really friendly and they will customize what you order here or special requests. My daughter is diabetic so she can only have half of a slushie cup and so they fulfilled my request. I LOVE their ice cream, so many flavors and sooooo yummy! I used to come here alot when I lived nearby but since moving to Central area I go to visit when in the area as much as I can.

Yelp
Never coming to this Pearl City location again! I'm assuming the older Korean lady and man are the owners and they are not very friendly. They didn't smile once while we were there. We felt rushed as we were deciding what to order even though we were the only ones in there. My husband scratched the top of his nose and his mask came down a little and the lady rudely tells him to keep his mask on as she's making his cone with an ungloved hand. My husband paid so I didn't catch it in the store but as we drove away he he was like, "did we just spend $22 there?" He didn't take the receipt so I checked our card online and sure enough it was $21.75 - for 2 medium icee floats and a single scoop cone. I called them to inquire about prices and the icee float was $8 something! Called the Aiea location and theirs is $6 something. I'm pretty certain there wasn't even a full scoop of ice cream in the icee float. They probably think cuz the ice cream is on the bottom and we can't see it they can put less and we won't know. But, poking the ice cream with my straw, it didn't seem like there was much in there; definitely not a whole scoop. What a rip off. We should've went to Baldwins and gotten shave ice instead. But we came from Chuck E. Cheese so decided to give them a try instead. What a mistake. If the owners were nice and welcoming and actually appreciated that we were there I wouldn't even mind them ripping us off as much cuz hey, they probably had a bad year in 2020. I may have even given them 4 stars cuz my husband did enjoy his green tea cone and the icees were refreshing but customer service and a smile goes a long way and they had neither. Will definitely not be returning.

Yelp
I love ice cream shops-- the aroma of fresh waffles cones and sampling house specialties. I am sad to say that I left Dave's very disappointed and appalled. Dave's receives one star from me for the following reasons: 1) Strong stench of cigarettes in small dining area. It is overwhelming. 2) After sampling an ice cream and wanting to try a second, the PIC asked me for my spoon/popsicle stick back. I thought she meant to discard it, but she fully intended on using the other side for my second sample. WHAT?! Yes- she took the stick back, touched it against the back of her hands to see which part was wet, and attempted to use it. It might have been my look of shock/double take, or maybe shaking my head 'no', but thankfully she tossed my used utensil, and grabbed a new one. However, she did not wash her hands, and so my saliva remained on her hands. 3) At this point, I wanted to leave just imagining how contaminated the product might be, but I had already ordered one ice cream, and there was a $10 minimum for credit card purchases. 4) Overall lack of cleanliness in the dining area. Walls are dingy. After smoking right outside of the store, the PIC simply put pumped sanitizer on her hands quickly, and went back to work. No soap/water. 5) Flavor/quality of one of my ice cream choices was poor. Other was good. It's a toss up. I am just shocked. If a business doesn't take care of all of the things a guest can see, I am afraid of all of the things happening behind the scenes.

Yelp
My daughter and I came by recently as we were craving a bubble drink. We were in the area and stopped by to inquire as to whether they sold bubble drinks and we were excited to find out that they did. I ordered the Matcha and my daughter ordered the strawberry. As soon as we tasted our drinks we immediately noticed a huge factor. That they obviously do not use fresh fruit or authentic Matcha. We've been to many other reputable cafes/parlors who do and I must say that the taste and difference between fresh and artificially flavored is substantial. We barely drank our beverages. We took a couple sips and immediately decided that we wanted a refund. Upon requesting a refund, the woman (who was not wearing a name tag but made it clear to us that she was the owner) refused to give us a refund as she stated we already drank from our beverages. She went on to say that they do not grant refunds on food items that have already been eaten from or tasted, even if it's a little bit. She was obviously upset in the way she spoke to us. Her customer service skills and demeanor was very poor, but I remained calm and I told her that upon tasting our beverages we immediately noticed that it didn't taste the way we hoped/anticipated. I apologized to her for any inconvenience and I kindly asked her again, if she'd give us a refund, but she refused. She went on to say/tell me: "I didn't force or tell you what to order so when you buy that's it". Needless to say I decided to let the whole thing go. She definitely wanted the "Compton/ Samoan" in me to come out....Fasho! But as a Woman I've grown and learned that not every situation/circumstance deserves my time, energy and reaction. Furthermore I definitely will not be a returning customer. And I highly recommend other potential customers to go elsewhere. If you want fresh, great quality desert/beverages and exceptional customer service then this is not the place for you.

Yelp
Sitting out here since 1015am to await the 1030am opening. Its now 11am and they still aren't open. What a waste of a Saturday morning! Kids and I are just sitting here in the car waiting.....

Yelp
The worst experience ever. On Tuesday 28 July at approximately 1523 Hrs. The rude lady behind the counter was complaining about me ordering 2 cake cones with Hawaiian Mud Pie...Since it was Tuesday and it was buy one scoop and get the second one free. She told me some bullshit line that she can't sell be two single cones because I was by myself. WTF??? The only way that she was gonna give me the 2nd cone is that when the other person shows up. I was like WTF??? Bitch making up her own rules...I will never give this place my business anymore. I'll tell all my friends and family to Boycott this location. I'll rather spend my money somewhere else...

Yelp
If you're in town and craving for some green tea ice cream this is the best place to go! Not too sweet ! It's not as fancy as Lappert's but their green tea ice cream is better tasting. ENJOY!

Yelp
I love Dave's Hawaiian Ice Cream. I have the mint chocolate chip, chocolate and vanilla bean....All delicious. Perfect balance of richness and taste,,, I have also had the sugar-free vanilla and it is really good,..,I wish they sold it at their stores. We need to have a Dave's closer to home...Dave, do you hear me? Kaimuki or Kahala would be great!

Yelp
Double scoop? This is like 1 1/2 scoops. Dave's WAIPIO is much more generous. Their one scoop there is like double here. Very little seating and place isn't very clean. The lady (I'm assuming the owner) isn't very friendly and forgot to give me napkins, so right before I got to my car (because there were no seats) it started melting like crazy and got everywhere and it wasn't even sunny :/

Yelp
Good ice cream. Rude and I mean rude service!!! The women working the counter had zero patients and kept trying to hurrying us along as well as telling my daughters that they had to make a decision now

Yelp
I was craving a bubble drink. So I went here because they had an Oreo bubble drink. What I got was a fake chocolate icy drink with no tapioca. It was not worth for the price that I paid for also. I don't think I would be visiting this place again.

Yelp
So we go celebrate my daughters' amazing swim meet at Dave's Ice Cream Pearl City by Chuck E Cheese and Don Quijote. It was pouring rain so we take it to go. We almost reach home when my daughter finds a ROACH in her ice cream!!! We all stopped eating n I tell my husband to turn around immediately! (Everyone knows Rican me is about to come out). I tell my girls to get down with me and the female owner wants to offer me another ice cream!!! I'm like, why would I eat another ice cream from here if I just got one with a roach in it?! Then, after attempting to argue with me, she wants to comp me for one ice cream since only one had the roach and some was already ate. Crazy!!! Yes, health inspectors will be called, no, I'm not eating there again, yes I got 'most' my money back. I have plenty pictures and posting everywhere. I couldn't even eat dinner I was so disgusted!

Yelp
Love Dave's ice cream but this location sucks. Ordered a two scoop ice cream cone. The lady scooping the cone was struggling a little with scooping out the ice cream. She hands me the cone saying, "The ice cream was hard." When I looked at the cone the two scoops I had were so small that when combined wouldn't equal one scoop at any of the other locations. (I usually go to the Moanalua Road location.) When I mentioned to her, "Is this it?!" She totally ignores me. If she was having such a difficult time getting the amount that is due when you spend $5.99 for just two scoops of ice cream, let me know or offer something else. I'm better off buying ice cream from a grocery store. I'll never come to this location again.

Yelp

Yelp
I *love* Dave's Ice Cream. In fact, I used to work for Dave's ice cream when they first opened in the 80's. I learned a lot about ice cream and customer service while working for Dave's. I spy with my little eye while running errands in Aiea / Pearl City, a Dave's Ice cream shop. I decided to stop in to buy my mom (and myself) some ice cream, because that is her favorite. I ordered us each a double scoop - mom got Lychee Sorbet and Coconut Macadmia Nut. I got Coconut Macadamia Nut and Chocolate Macadamia Nut. I asked the young lady behind the counter to please put the ice cream in a larger container, so that 1) the ice cream wouldn't be smashed together, and 2) I was traveling 30-45 minutes before the ice cream was going to be eaten. She happily complied. The ice cream taste hasn't changed over the years. However, I have two minor complaints about the ice cream: First, the scoops of ice cream were very inconsistent. Typical ice cream scoops are generally around 4 oz. a cone. I previously worked at Daves and I've scooped over 1000 ice cream cones. The first scoop on the bottom was the adequate size, but the scoop on the top was very skimpy. The second scoop that we got (in both cups) was at least 50% smaller than the first scoop. I feel like I got shorted by at least 2 oz for one scoop. Second, I found several bits of freeze-dried ice cream in the scoops. Typically each night, the store should scrape down and wipe down the sides of the ice cream bins. Otherwise, there are leftover clumps of ice cream that dry on the side and they begin to pick up flavors of the freezer. ICK. I found several chunks of this dried ice cream in both the coconut macadamia nut and chocolate macadamia nut ice creams. ICK. Food Grade: C+ Service Grade: C- Worth the Money Grade: C- Overall Impression Grade: C-

Good ice cream, good selection but rude and bad service.. i wanted a cone on in a cup and cone on the side, im willing to pay for whatever but she kept saying the ice cream will fit in the cone but that wasnt what i wanted a cup for.. after few mins saying ill pay for the extra cone or cup whatever she still decided to put the ice cream in the cone... didnt wanna argue some more so i took it. Ill drive home with ice cream dripping everywhere thanks unty

Yelp
I brought my friend here after lunch one day because I was craving some green tea ice cream and she had never tasted it before. Now that I know what I like, I have realized that it is better to buy in bulk :) They are super generous with the way they pack the quarts! My order was literally filled to the brim. I was reminded to write this update because tonight I finished the remainder of my quart sized green tea and ube ice cream :( This has become a staple in the freezer for me. A couple of spoonfuls of ice cream will turn any sort of bad day into a good one for me. I'm pretty sure I ate about 95% of the ice cream, leaving only 5% for my bf...but it isn't my fault he has restraint :p

Yelp
This place is great, I believe it's one of the older ice cream parlours in Oahu, I've been coming here for years now, I first found out about it when I cousins told me about it. I would usually go to the one at the International Market Place which is now gone. Friendly service and lots of ice cream, my favs are the lemon custard and the haupia! :)

Yelp
Had an early start to our day. After having breakfast and running our morning errands, the kids & I all wanted something to "cool off" with, but after arriving to the front door and finding that it was not yet open, we waited around for 5 extra minutes before we finally left. Did they change business hours on Sunday that I don't know of? If so, someone please correct me, as well as the advertised hours.
