On the Grid : Dave's Records

"The name says it all, Dave's Records is that and that only. No CD's, no tapes, no laserdiscs, just pure dedication to vinyl. On any given day, you'll find owner Dave Crain diligently working to keep a massive collection of new releases and old gems stocked and rotating. The tiny space is packed floor to ceiling with vinyl. It might require some digging, but theres something here for everyone. In a day when digital is common, Dave's pays homage to physical form and celebrates vinyl as king." - Stephen Merlo

Very small but full of quality! Used to live in this neighborhood and got a few gems in my collection from here. Haven’t been back since I moved further north. One of the first spots I visited after the lockdown, took my love and behold. We found another gem :’)

Shop, service, & prices were outstanding for being an “in the city” record shop. This place had some surprisingly great finds. And the best part I didn’t feel like I was being judged on my choices. 100% worth stopping in and going through their collection. 😎🎸🎼🔥🔥🔥

So this place has one of the best new vinyl selections of any record store I've been too. However service was poor and prices were 20-40% over market price for both new and used. Discogs and Amazon make it too easy to check pricing. We were on a record shop road trip and was looking for special music from each store so I asked "what do you have that's a must buy"...his answer "yeah, um, this, what's playing, The Beatles". Yes thank you for stating the obvious.

Went here on record store day and it was a pretty pain free experience. I wasn't there to buy records so I didn't have to wait in the long line. It was managed well though since the shop is set up with two long aisles and bins of records on the middle for browsing as you wait. They had Molly's cupcakes brought in as a treat to the shoppers which was a nice perk. My friend ended up getting every record she wanted so it was a pleasant time all around.

A connoisseur's shop. They keep the shelves stocked with primo stuff but bargain hunters can still find gold for cheap. I snagged an obscure American Primitive Guitar LP from their bins for less than a cup of coffee. Great shop!

I love this little local place and bought my first ever new record here, so it holds a special place in my heart. The dude behind the counter was very helpful, even though I was obviously clueless. Very friendly and NOT pretentious. Best of all, they have other fun things like posters and tshirts. Great gift stop!

My girlfriend and I love to make a trip over to Dave's on a weekend morning to pick up a new album or two. They have a wonderful selection in a unique, eclectic space. Dave and the staff also do a great job on Record Store Day, giving a list of what they have available a day or two before.
