David's Restaurant

We went on a Thursday evening, had 3 courses and drinks. From start to finish is was a special experience. Service was great, met with the owner Chris as he warmly chatted around the dining room as he brought out the fantastic food he clearly takes a lot of pride in. We had Tempura Prawn and Twice Baked Souffle to start, the Duck, Fillet Steak (cooked to perfection) for main, Nutella Biscoff Cheesecake and a Chocolate Caramel Tart for dessert. All tasted amazing. Great food, great service and all for a fair price. Will definitely go back.

Second visit as my mum has been reminiscing about this place since our last travel in the UK. Came to Carlisle specifically for David’s. Walked in with great anticipation and weren’t disappointed. Quality, honest ingredients done right! We ordered the set menus and were hoping to grab a dessert each but was too full by the end of our main dishes, had to go with two to share amongst the four of us. You could tell that the chef and his team put a lot of efforts in designing and delivering the food. Highly recommend!

Very nice restaurant off the beaten path. Excellent food and friendly service. We had the new Christmas menu, and it was really delicious.

Really nice small place. The food was really good, in particular the dessert (crême brulée) 👌, the service was friendly and attentif.

On the way to Glasgow from Liverpool, my mom and I stopped into David’s Restaurant for a very late dinner while traveling through Carlisle. The food was wonderful, and Chris, the owner and host, was so incredibly kind and helpful! Highly recommend to anyone either visiting Carlisle or just passing through!

On route from Colchester to Scotland, we decided to stop in Carlisle for the evening and booked dinner at David's. I am so happy that we did, as it was one of the most wonderful places we've ever dined at. The food was absolutely delicious, from the flakey cod and perfectly cooked chicken, to the wonderfully seasoned vegetables. The haggis pakora and Irn Bru mayonnaise was a revelation and tasted amazing. We finished on a comforting and rich sticky toffee pudding. Not only did we have great food, Chris was a lovely host and made us feel so welcome. We are so sad we don't have this restaurant back in our home town and hope one day we can return to this fabulous place! ❤️ Thank you Chris!

We had our wedding meal there yesterday and it was absolutely fantastic. The owner and the staff nailed the service with a champagne reception and had laid out our table decorations beautifully. The food was amazing and lots of the guests asked me how I found such a good spot. We couldn’t have been happier.

We had a lovely meal here. In fact we eat here about once every 4 years. Really nice, french inspired cuisine, with big portions. Chris is great front of house, and we all left with full and satisfied bellies.

Been here a couple of times for lunch / dinner before and thought it was about time to write a review. The food here is great. Great quality and just the right quality. This time I enjoyed a lovely haddock scotch egg, with pork belly to follow. Both of which were flavoursome. The wine selection is also pretty good. Service with a smile! Great value for money. Definitely recommend trying to anyone visiting!

We came to Davids after years of hearing good reviews and were not disappointed. The three of us had a faultless meal- the cod was cooked to perfection,the duck and lamb mains were beautifully pink and all the sauces were deliciously moorish. The mid week deal of 2 courses for £18.95 and 3 for £22.95 is a great bargain as portions are generous. The service was fantastic with very friendly staff, we cant wait to come back as its the best meal we've had in Carlisle!

We were driving south, with a stop for lunch in Carlisle. Saw David's on yelp, and called to book a table two hours ahead. They never called back, got to the restaurant, complete snobs and rude. We went next door Alexandros instead, and considered ourselves in the better place.

Pretty much the best food in Carlisle - everything I've ever had has been really really good - inventive but not weird for the sake of it and always perfectly cooked. The owners are charming hosts and this would be a good place to go for a special occasion - it's classy and sophisticated rather than cool and trendy.
