After a wonderful three weeks of safariing in African, we finished up in Johannesburg before heading home. We stayed at the Davinci Hotel for 2 nights and it was an excellent stay. The hotel has luxurious room and a friendly staff, and we also availed ourselves of the spa for a 90 minute couples massage (excellent!). The location is great - connected to both Nelson Mandela Square which has lots of good restaurants, and to Sandton City Mall, with plenty of shops if you are in the shopping mood. There is even a shuttle that takes you to one of the Hop Off and Hop On red buses if you want to do a tour of the city. We took the tour and it was a good introduction to Johannesburg, but we wished we had down the Soweto extension. All in all, a very good stay!

The Hotel is perfectly located for access to Sandton City and Mandela Square.||It is a very large City Hotel.||The rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The Buffet Breakfast should meet all requirements. The prepared to order omelets, bacon, sausage and tomato are good. ||If you like marmalade on your breakfast toast be sure to ask your waiter to ask the Restaurant Manager to order it for you.||Unfortunately, the public rooms are not access restricted, prostitutes openly solicit.

This hotel is beyond wonderful. The hotel arranged our pickup at OT Tambo and a very professional young man was waiting for us as we exited; he handed us off to a wonderful driver. We checked in after 2100hrs on our first day, left out for a day safari at 0615 the following morning (safari all arranged by Mr. Chet), returned in the evening, spent less than an hour having a quick bite and cocktail in the bar before going to sleep. The following morning, while sitting in the lobby, the Senior Concierge, Mr. Billy Chet approached us and greeted us by name. We had never met him before but he learned/knew who we are. That, friends, is exceptional service and customer focus. Exceptional. Our room is lovely, well-appointed and very clean. (I’m a clean-freak/germaphobe so if a place meets my impossibly neurotic standards, it’s above and beyond.) Spent much of my 2nd day recovering from jet lag and exhaustion at the Davinci spa. Portia gave me possibly the best facial I’ve ever had and I’ve been getting facials for 45 years. I came in dry and wrinkly and left looking 10 years younger. Can say enough about Portia and N’Tombi at the Davinci Spa. The spa itself is immaculate and every service you could want plus champagne. Just a great way to recover from any residual jet lag. Desk staff and restaurant staff are graciously accommodating. From the moment you walk through the doors the entire experience is 110%. As importantly, I was told by a staff member that during the time the hotel was closed for Covid, staff were paid a portion of their wages. We will always prefer and patronize businesses that show loyalty to their staff. Strong work all around.

Hotel is in a great location for seeing Johannesburg. The hotel was very clean, staff were very professional and friendly. Breakfast was included in our room rate; it was the best breakfast buffet/al a carte breakfast I have had and I've stayed in a lot of high-end hotels.

1. Aircon’s not working 2. Maintenance guy didn’t have the app and I needed to provide him with tissues while we waited for his app to download to figure out what was going on 3. No extra blanket request several times and nothing came all we hear is loud music when we call housekeeping lots of promises still nothing 4. Requested extra bed in the morning, still nothing in the evening more of the same from housekeeping 5. Bed came hit my wife with the steel base on her head 6. Kitchen dishes from the previous night not cleaned 7. Foul plumbing smells from the shower 8. Sliding door in the second bedroom doesn’t slide 9. Dstv unable to figure it out but maintenance were quick to sort it out after 2 phone calls 10. Breakfast Breakfast 1. Didn’t notify that the second veg pan was not working but notified my wife 2. Took ages for my wife’s omelette after 20 mins it came and were then promised a better experience the next day requested 9:30 booked table 3. Arrive on day 2, no table in site says we booked for 9am and rolls her eyes at us 4. Puts a table together after 10 mins service was slow but manageable 5. Day 3 service was slow but not ridiculous as we had lowered our expectations significantly 6. Day 4 expected nothing however 30 mins for cold avo on bread incorrect orders for a very basic request and lots of excuses from the chef 7. Housekeeping 0/10 8. Breakfast -10/10 9. Location 10/10 10. Room 7/10 11. Value for money 5/10 Met with management for 45 minutes who promised to make right the issue but all I did was waste my time as they offered me to come back at a preferential rate for more abuse by their team which I declined. Once again they talk the talk but are unable to deliver. At no point did we expect service or feedback in 5 minutes we waited the appropriate time and longer for the service. So if you want 1. Eggs at breakfast 2. Working Aircon 3. DSTV that works 4. Clean dishes 5. A response from anyone in the hotel in under 30 Minutes 7. A decent smelling room 6. Or management to do anything about the pathetic service Save your money the location is amazing but you will leave feeling very frustrated and undewhelmed like you actually got robbed that’s how you will feel.

Beautiful hotel in Sandton which is a suburb of Johannesburg. Outstanding customer service. Attached to a large top of the range shopping precinct with everything you desire. Don’t even have to exit the hotel if you don’t want to.

Attended a high-level work event (that was really good - this review only pertains to the hotel venue). The hotel placed us in a sunroom area not suited to the business event; it was uncomfortably hot in the room with some delegates seated in full sun, the audio-visual was poor quality, and the breakfast dishes, specially catered for the event, was really poor quality and skimpy. The service personnel did what they could to save the event, and are rated high.

The room was AMAZING as was the food and drinks. But what truly made this stay perfect was Gilbert at the front desk. He truly went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay.
