3 Best Day Trips from Savannah

"Whitemarsh, Wilmington, and Talahi Islands are a bit like Savannah’s suburbs, and a lot of what you’ll see driving to Tybee Island is unremarkable—grocery stores, fitness center, car repair places, and on. But even with its tiny footprint, you literally can’t miss Davis Produce; it’s the small building next to the Shell station with a big painting of an anthropomorphic tomato on it. This little stand bills itself as the "HOME OF THE KILLER TOMATO," per that sign, and sells plenty of other fresh, local produce as well. Make sure you don't skip the peanuts, which are boiled onsite in a huge kettle." - Sam Worley

Google
Best produce in Savannah! Great customer service, friendly, inviting, quality products and people❤️. Beautiful hibiscus! I couldn't leave without her! Don't forget your peanuts!

Google
Cute eclectic little fresh produce and local goods store. Great for someone looking for something a little out of the way or off the beaten path. We stopped by in fall and they had pumpkins and lots of local fall produce to choose from. Only thing keeping this from 5 stars is I would prefer if they kept it a little more clean and tidy. But it is outdoors and open so I’m sure that’s easier said than done, and I wouldn’t skip the trip over it!

Stopped for some peaches and they did not disappoint! Very large, very sweet, very juicy, and very good! Tried the peach salsa too. Wish it had more spice to it but it was still good. They had allot of local grown produce including watermelon, beans, grapes, and several other options.

Was pleased to come across a local produce merket on our vacation in GA. We bought peaches, of course and now I know. I'm ruined for life. Doubt I'll ever have a better, more juicy, ripe, delicious peach. Wish we'd bought more but we were on the way to Tybee and didn't want to leave in heat of car.

Google
Excellent service here! The ladies were very friendly and helpful. The fruits and veggies looked really good. I picked up some tangelos, cucumbers, and some tomatoes for sandwiches. Currently munching on the cukes and some tomato with a shake of salt and Italian seasoning. Delicious!

Google
Wonderful, fresh produce, homemade jellies, jams and sauces. I bonded with the young lady named Cali because that's my daughter's name also. She recommend the FROG jam, and she was right! It was awesome!! Wish I lived closer!!

Google
Friendly staff, wonderfully fresh produce and a variety of jellies and pickled items to take home or to the beach. They made sure we had tried boiled peanuts before we left!

Google
I love doing as much of my produce shopping here as possible! Bow they also carry raw milk, pasture eggs and fresh bakes breads!

Yelp
The ladies here are so kind and helpful. Lots of fresh vegetables, fruit, pickles, pickled okra, honey, juice, dessert, plants and so much more. Great location, convenient parking. Pick up some fruit on your way to the beach, then stop again on your way home.

Yelp
I rarely post - and have shopped here since they opened - have always been a fan. Not only the best place to buy tomatoes but i have never seen a place that consistently has the best cantaloups - always amazing. Can not tell you the number of cantaloups i have bought from the big box stores that go in the trash - NOT HERE!!

Yelp
Great tomatoes and all the yummy produce! Wonderful selection of pimento cheeses! Love the cheese straws and the boiled peanuts!

Yelp
I've been shopping at Davis for years. The quality of customer service depends on who's working on any given day. I've mostly purchased great tomatoes here. What I do not appreciate is that some produce is kept behind the counter, and you (the customer) are not allowed to see, inspect and choose for yourself. They pick the produce, corn for example, for you to purchase. I just bought six ears of corn that were small, dry, and unfit to eat - see photo. They shouldn't hand picked produce for the customer to buy, and know the quality is unacceptable. It's simply poor customer service and bad business.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place on the way to our beach day, and lemme tell ya.... Every single thing we purchased here was so fresh and so delicious! We ended up taking blackberries, peaches, pound cake, pickles, chicharrones, and boiled peanuts to the beach we even made it a point to go 20 minutes, out of our way, just to bring more goodies back home with us. Also, just a fair warning, the staff is absolutely amazing.

Yelp
Best produce in the area. We stopped by and got some tomatoes and peaches along with a few popsicles. Tried the Peach and Raspberry Hibiscus popsicles. Everything was great and everyone working was super friendly.

Yelp
Freshest produce ever! Their tomatoes are out of this world, the best I've ever had. All their produce is consistently fresh and the best tasting. Local restaurants shop here too, so you know it's got to be good! :-)

Yelp
I was disappointed. It was much smaller than I expected with much less variety. I didn't end up buying anything but may check it out again to make sure I didn't just overlook some gem.

Yelp
Stop Here! The watermelon alone is now what we judge all watermelon by! Honey was amazing. Great prices, selection, staff, and free parking!

Dawn B.

Yelp
Came here on the hunt for boiled peanuts. The nice woman working there (sorry didn't catch your name!) gave us samples of peanuts and watermelon. Huge selection of homemade stuff in addition to produce. Walked out with a bunch of jars of pickles and jam. Definitely stop here on your way to the beach and get you some snacks!

Yelp
Stopped in as they were closing on the 4th of July. Very friendly and helpful even while they were trying to close. Delicious peaches and really great boiled nuts. We'll spend more time and get more stuff next time we go to Tybee Island.

Yelp
The people are nice enough (expect the old John McCain-looking dude--he's got the personality of a fencepost) but they're way overpriced. The peaches, at least when I visited, were not in that great shape and pretty expensive and their preserves and things like pickled beets are outrageously overpriced. I'm all for small, local, businesses--especially something like a produce stand--but this is nearly a racket. I guess tourists stay out on Tybee don't mind the prices, though.

Yelp
Near place, lots of seasonal produce. A little pricy but worth it. Also had a little garden center in the back.

Bill C.

Yelp
Make a trip there and get some boiled peanuts. Nothing beats a bag of boiled peanuts sitting out on the beach.

Yelp
I'm a frequent visitor to Davis, especially in the summer for the boiled peanuts and peaches! As a local, I LOVE having fresh produce right down the road. Their prices are fair and they've always got a great selection of fresh fruits and veggies, as well as other things like jams, honey, and some fun decor. Sherry and her team are some of the kindest and friendliest people you'll ever meet!

Yelp
Family friendly, local with delicious produce and crafted yummies. Love their Jars of goodies! I've never had a bad experience here. The women behind the counter are incredible and the food is always fresh.

Yelp
Where else will folks get to know you, remember you and care how you are doing. Most places cringe when a family pulls up and 5 children are in tow but here they are welcomed with open arms and if the season is right, they all may be handed a delicious peach.
google avatar

Jennifer T.

Yelp
If you want the freshest veggies and fruits there is no better place to shop. The homemade goodies melt in your mouth. I can't even tell you how great the boiled peanuts are. One of the best things about Davis is they will help you pick the best of what they have. They also offer plants and other homemade items. I have never left empty handed and considering I go by several times a week I'm always happy when I leave.

Yelp
Always peddeling awesome produce. Sherry is an angel. Of you can get the boiled peanuts or pork rinds they are crazy good and addicting. They also have super ripe and fresh tomatoes, deliccious muskadine grapes and so much more. Don't think twice, just go!

Casey W.

Yelp
Convinced our tour bus to stop and was sure glad we did. All produce was gorgeous and delicious. The grape and cherry tomatoes tasted like sweet candy. The peaches (from S.C.) were, um, what is sweeter than candy? So juicy and fresh. The workers were wonderful and so accommodating to a large group. Jars of delicious foods, too, in case you are traveling and can't keep produce.

Yelp
This is a great stand that has nice produce, boiled peanuts, plants and an impressive selection of regional food products to bring back as gifts for your food-loving friends including jarred fruits and vegetables, pickles, hot sauces, marinades and barbecue sauces...and they accept credit cards.
google avatar

Yelp
This place has the best tasting peaches, watermelon, cantaloupe, etc. It's great to stop there if you're heading to or from Tybee. Be advised: It comes up on you quick and you could drive past it. Turn into the Circle K gas station -- Davis Produce is next door. Enjoy!
google avatar

Patty C.

Yelp
Check out their gorgeous local vegetable plants and flowers too! Every so often they have fresh baked banana bread, still warm from the oven, a must try when available!

Yelp
I'm a long time fan of Davis Produce. I just tried their pickled Brussels sprouts and my admiration has increased. Tasty!

Yelp
Cute pit stop on your way out of Tybee. Boiled peanuts, tons of jams, dressings, sauces, etc. The sugar plums and peaches looked great, but didn't end up getting any.

Debra B.

Yelp
Love,Love,Love this place! Sherry is an awesome lady as well as the rest of her staff. She is always helpful in picking out my produce. They have the best hot boiled peanuts in Savannah, and the prices are really reasonable. Keep up the good work ya'll !!!!
