"Buddhist Vegetarian Fare I got really excited when I saw this humble canteen at the Daxingshan Temple, next to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and near the Westin. (I lived in Macau for a year and ate at least one meal a day at one of two Buddhist vegetarian restaurants in town. They were cheap, very healthy, and mostly delicious—hence the excitement.) Vegetarian food in mainland China is often made to look like meat, so don't be surprised. The smoked "tuna" here is good, as are the soups, and a dish my dictionary translated as "Cannabis Chicken" was outstanding. I really liked the atmosphere at the restaurant, too."

Very cute and cozy hidden gem of the city. They have many stray cats inside and the merchandised items are adorable.

Daxingshan Temple in Xi'an is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in China, with a history dating back to the Western Jin Dynasty. It played a significant role in the spread of Buddhism, particularly in translating and teaching Buddhist scriptures. The temple features traditional Chinese architecture, serene gardens, and ancient cultural relics. It remains an important site for Buddhist worship and cultural heritage, attracting both pilgrims and tourists seeking peace and historical insight.

A local and ancient temple for those who wish to visit, photo shoot, and pray. Everything is OK. Just.. Hope management can take action for toilet cleaning. The toilet really in a mesh, and hardly breath inside.

It's good due to the history story attached to it. But this place like all other commercialised Chinese attractions, they split gates and make you buy different ticket. If you want to visit the tower, you must buy the gate ticket, then buy the ticket to go up the tower, which is ridiculous.

Another beautiful temple in Xi'an, and it also has a vegetarian restaurant. The food was really good.

Absolutely beautiful, peaceful ancient temple. This is probably my favorite place in all of Xi'an. It is off the beaten path for tourists, so it is free to go in and there were not a lot of people. The temples and paintings were exquisite. There is also a vegetarian restaurant inside, I didn't try it, but I wish I did. Definitely visit if you have the opportunity. The street it is on also has a lot of nice coffee shops and small restaurants.

beautiful, a little peaceful spot in the middle of the city. it's totally off tourists so it's free and you will find a lot of Chinese people praying. I love it, definitely worth a visit!
