We booked a superior pool view room, but ended up in a ground-floor room with no pool view at all. Total letdown! The room was pretty rough—mouldy curtains, holes where pictures should’ve been, dirty walls, and a rusty bathtub. Not the vibe we were expecting. We told reception, but since the resort was fully booked, they basically shrugged and said, “It is what it is.” After some back-and-forth, they moved us to the right room type the next day, which was better but still kinda damp.|The reception staff came across a bit dismissive, they weren’t too fussed about our concerns. It felt like they could use a bit more training in handling guests. That said, the rest of the resort staff were super friendly and laid-back, always happy to help out, which we really appreciated.|The pool area looked awesome but, wow, that water was ice-cold! disappointing since it’s the main draw in winter when there’s not much else going on. On the flip side, the living reef experiences were a total blast! Feeding and gently touching the rays was so cool, and the marine biologist was full of energy and knew their stuff—definitely a highlight.|The resort had a nice, chill vibe and never felt packed, which was great. A bit of TLC for the rooms and some extra training for the reception team would make this place even better.

It was nice. The living reef and under water observatory were amazing and the main feature of the island resort and my kids and I loved the experience. I dare say the upkeep is costly and this is probably why hotel maintenance and repairs are falling very short. It was a lot less luxurious than my silly head envisioned so I was a bit disappointed in that part as although I got a good deal there was a lot of hard saving involved I very much thought there would be a sauna and steam room and I could just relax there for a little bit to have a break from the kids. You see most of us are trying to escape a life of always having jobs and having to plan and think and do and well...I feel like the staff always said hi, good morning and and most were generally nice but the rooms never got cleaned properly ( I'm thinking staff are not properly trained.) and I could feel that some might have been annoyed with me. (I'm thinking they are not very happy working there.) And there was this one time we went to get dinner and discovered we were supposed to get a booking ( no one told us we needed to.) And it took a while to get our takeaway I get that but our 1 year old and 3 year old are restless and running wild and I probably looked stressed and maybe they mistook that for me being angry and annoying and that is why my pan fried $40 something dollar gnocchi was literally a fist size serving. The breakfast food was good but average and that's okay because honestly it probably works well as a 3 star resort as the reef and sealife is the highlight. I really think they should stop selling it as luxury though and maybe open graze up for lunch and dinner with the good basic goodies...maybe make it all inclusive and people can pay a bit more overall for their stay. Because honestly most of us are chasing less effort less stress and more relaxation. I very much loved the meditation and paint and sip, lovers cove and walking around the island and swimming in the ocean.

If you're looking for the perfect island escape with a friendly, laid-back vibe and something for everyone, Daydream Island Resort is a top pick! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm smiles and an easygoing atmosphere that immediately put us in holiday mode. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always happy to offer suggestions or a helping hand, making the whole experience feel relaxed and personal. The resort itself is absolutely stunning — surrounded by turquoise waters, lush greenery, and picture-perfect views at every turn. The recently refurbished rooms are modern, clean, and super comfortable, many offering breathtaking ocean views. What really stood out was the range of activities for all ages. Whether you're travelling with kids, teens, or just adults, there's never a dull moment. The Living Reef — a huge coral lagoon that wraps around the resort — is a must-see and offers hands-on marine experiences for curious minds. There’s also snorkelling, paddleboarding, outdoor movies, nature walks, a great pool area, and even a kids’ club to keep the little ones entertained while adults unwind. Dining options were great, with a nice mix of casual and more upscale choices — fresh seafood and tropical cocktails were definitely a highlight. The spa was a standout experience, offering personalized treatments tailored to your needs and a variety of options to choose from. The products used were absolutely incredible, leaving us feeling refreshed and pampered All in all, Daydream Island lives up to its name — a peaceful yet activity-filled island paradise that’s perfect for families, couples, or anyone looking to recharge in a beautiful, welcoming setting. Highly recommended for your next getaway! 🌺

Hands down best family holiday we have been on. Please don’t listen to the negative reviews. Best staff, great food ( yes there are limited choices but what do you expect you are on an island) buffet breakfast is a 10/10 Location beautiful. Living reef is great for the kids and the pools. All staff are very accomodating and if you do want extra things just ask. Since the cyclone in 2017 they have tried their best and yes one side of the island is run down a bit but you no what who cares it will eventually be done up 👍 My family and I will be coming back and we can’t wait.

Spent 3 nights which is more than enough, not much to do on the island. Reef was good and Lovers Cove snorkelling were the highlights. Pool was freezing, what's the point of an island holiday if no one is in the pool or beach, which is coral so hard to access. Pick a resort with a heated pool if going during Autumn, winter months.

I have no idea why this place isn't more popular. It's amazing! The rooms are comfy, clean, and modern, and the food at the restaurants is great. They gave us a warm welcome at the front desk with a shell necklace and a drink. The wildlife here is stunning. We had over ten wild cockatoos visit our room and lots of kangaroos you can feed. The pool and hot tub are fun, especially with kids.

The overall general feel I had during our stay was that senior management had all left the island and gone on leave and left the keys with the working holiday visa crew to fend for themselves. - didn’t see anyone who looked remotely from upper management walking around the public areas checking and inspecting areas. The crew tried their best and some where great however service in Saltis was very average - we ate there a few times and every time had to try flag over someone to take our order, get us another drink, bring us the bill etc. At times it took multiple reminders to get someone to take our order which is rough as there was only one other table in there. We did stumble across Infinity a couple of nights in and only ate their from then on - food at infinity is excellent! Given the limited food options, the operating hours of the f&b outlets weren’t ideal - would have been good to have a venue open for food earlier than 11.30am especially as we are at the buffet at 6.30am and our little one was hungry by 10am. ||Facilities are run down and looking old on most common areas however the pools and reception look great. ||House keeper was below average - in 6 days, we had them come twice - I had to go find them to ask them to clean the room the second time and although they came, it was a very basic service of swapping towels and the carpet was never vacuumed - not end of the world however given the colour of the carpet and the dirt from walking in from outside, and crumbs from a baby eating, it really showed on the carpet and needed a quick daily vacuum - by the end of the stay the carpet was covered in visible muck. || The weather was poor for majority of our stay which is not the resorts fault however there isn’t a lot to do when the weather isn’t great. ||With all this said, it was relaxing to be able to switch off and have no FOMO as you couldn’t go anywhere and there wasn’t a lot going on. The loving reef is a great experience for all ages and the kangaroos on the island entertained our little one.
