Nice hotel! A little dated and worn, but the staff is friendly, rooms are clean, and there's a great Chinese restaurant in the lobby. If you have kids there is a splash park/playground across the street in a huge park that borders the Charles river. There is also a bus stop immediately behind the hotel that can take you to the heart of Harvard's campus in minutes, and from there you can take the subway anywhere you want. I would definitely use this hotel again.

Horrific hotel. While the front desk staff were lovely, they could not make up for the run down, filthy appearance of the hotel. The front lobby furniture was broken down and stained. There was an odour to the hotel as well. The rooms themselves were dark and out of date. When I showered in the morning there was no hot water and then the shower would not shut off. I ended up calling maintenance to come and shut it off. It certainly was a low point in my business travel. Add to that, the room actually cost over $300 dollars per night.

I stayed here a couple of months ago but it took me so long to write a review because of the therapy I had to endure. I was in the Boston area with a group of friends for a casual weekend, and the Days Inn provides substantial accommodations at an affordable price. The room was spacious enough for 4 men to be comfortable, and the hotel was a short distance from many attractions. Entire trip went well with no hangups, other than the nuggets. The hotel has a serious nugget problem that should be addressed in order to avoid deterring potential guests from choosing this hotel. Sometimes when I go to bed I close my eyes and the nuggets are there. I avoid picking up my phone from an unlisted number fearing it may be nuggets. I've lost friends over this, my family stopped talking to me, and fell on some dark times. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be normal again. Is it even worth it? Hotel also has a Chinese food restaurant on the first floor but did not try. Overall would come back.

I was working in Cambridge, so it was convenient, however, there really isn't much close by (walking distance). The room was ok, but the climate control didn't seem to function, and my room was Warner than I'd have liked. The TV channels were basic, No frills. The Chinese restaurant in the lobby was busy, but I didn't try it. The front desk was cordial and professional.

Google
horrible. A group of friends and I stayed there last weekend. They put one of us in the wrong room. had security go into the room to remove my friends luggage when we were gone. Even though the hotel put them in the wrong room. Charged me and I wife for all 6 rooms. Plus lucky room #7 which was a mix up in the first place. no one knows how to make a drink at the bar. all in all a Horrible place. I wouldnt recommend my dog to stay there.

Google
Although the location of the hotel is a little inconvenient because of the one-way roads and whatnot, this hotel has nice rooms that are kept nice and tidy for the guests. Rooms were always at just the right temperature. The staff did a great job of catering to our needs and getting us in and out of our room very quickly.

If I could give 0 stars I would. First of all the smell was so bad I was gagging. Second while I was a the front desk checking in two separate people came and asked for new sheets because theirs were soiled. The room did not look clean and I was so afraid to sleep in the bed I took the loss and checked out 2 hrs later, went to a different hotel and spent a wonderful night at the embassy suites. Would not recommend to anyone.

I booked this place on a business trip for a week. The lobby is rough and I knew I was in trouble once I saw the stains on the furniture. The entire hotel smells of mold and cigarettes and it hits you like a brick wall when the elevators open to the hallways. I thought about requesting another room in hopes of avoiding the smell of cigarettes on a lower floor, but every floor's hallway smelled, something close to mold and cigarettes. The wifi in the hotel is horrendous which made working impossible. To top the entire ordeal off I opened the sheets in preparation to sleep only to find a bed bug crawling across them. I brought the tiny bug to the front desk in a cup and demanded a refund for my weeks stay. I found an AirBnB last minute up the road for the same price per week that was tiny, but wonderful, cute and homely. Save your money and support the local.

Yelp
Stayed here during a busy graduation weekend. Studio Allston definitely has a cool, artsy vibe lots of bold colors and fun design elements all around. It's in the Allston area, which feels like an up-and-coming neighborhood (maybe part of Boston's Koreatown). About 20 to 25 minutes from the city center, depending on traffic. The service was decent and check-in was smooth. They give welcome refreshments, which was a nice surprise. There's a food hall in the lobby area with snacks and drinks, plus some pastries and coffee in the morning--basic, but not bad. Now for the not-so-great part: I booked months in advance and specifically requested a king bed. We ended up with double beds. The front desk said it was because of graduation season which was exactly why I booked so early. That was frustrating. Also, we were placed in the annex building (southside), which is kind of a long walk from the main lobby. Not ideal if you've got luggage or are checking in late. If you book, try to request the main building instead. Price-wise, I found it a little steep for the location. I stayed later in the week at a hotel in Cambridge that was around the same price but felt more convenient overall. Would I stay again? Maybe, maybe not. It's got personality, but I'd compare other options first.

Yelp
Check in was easy. Plenty of signage to find where to go. Parking on property and under cover as well. Staff are super friendly. Room is super clean and up to date. Bathroom door is a barn door that slides, but leaves a gap so don't open the room door or a free show might be available. There are no close subway or rail, but there is a bus stop in the Yellow line close by, we opted for a Uber and it was quick

Yelp
Party of three visiting Boston and had an easy checkin. I was charged for the "facility fees" which included a list of things we didn't utilized. We ate the free breakfast (which had different things available each morning but was tasty either way/ for example no cream cheese but had bacon first morning and then no bacon but cream cheese available, no basic morning drinks like orange juice) and used the outdoor fire pit which was really nice and they even put on music for us which brought more of the guests out but it was upon request vs on their own. Maybe we asked earlier than when they usually do if they do set the vibe without request. Main complaint was the gap from the bathroom door next to a stand up mirror and the bathroom fan not working (picture attached). The gap in the sliding door allowed anyone from the hallways to see anyone in the shower or on the toilet, and if you were in the room and looking at the mirror, you'd see anyone standing up or in the shower. Noise was at a minimum so no problem with sleep and a quiet stay. The hotel was near great food, a convenient river walk and kid safe fenced in playground. It was easy to walk to food and the hotel also provided a good list for food choices. Overall good stay, but the bathroom door and fan really need a face lift. The AC sounded like it was struggling but it did the job. The facility fee should only be charged for those planning to use the gym or most of the list of amenities provided.

Yelp
Many people would not give this hotel a four star rating, but I am giving it based on service alone. There is not a bar or full restaurant onsite, but you can get breakfast in the morning and they are starting a hosted lobby event periodically. HOWEVER.... The staff here are magnificent. Very welcoming, personable and willing and eager to provide good customer service. They moved my luggage for me while I was out visiting family. Called to see if I checked in okay, housekeeping asks if you need anything when you walk by and if you ask, they try to get what you need. The rooms are colorful and have beautiful murals on the walls and kitschy feel to the whole place. I'll be back. Hopefully they will have a bar and food venue when I get back.

Yelp
This is a decent choice if you need to get to the HBS campus, as it is one of the closest options. The hotel has a distinct dorm feel about it albeit marketed as a upbeat/youthful accommodation option. My room was quite spacious, with a tiny but present work station. The staff at reception were very attentive and friendly.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years for school drop off and pick up and visits. On our last visit uber eats didn't include utensils and my son was lectured when he went down to the desk at 7pm to ask for some plastic utensils. He was told in the future that the hotel would need more of a heads up to provide utensils. This was 3 hours after check in when we were encouraged to come to the front desk if we forgot anything. Additionally, this morning my son brought last evenings food trash out front to the trash receptacle as there are none inside. He was not let back in the building. I was out at Dunkin's getting coffee and he was lucky that his sister's phone was on and that she was with us in order to bring down his card. Three of us checked in with the same last name. In all of my 52 years I've never been refused entry into a hotel or stopped. This kid was refused entry. All and all.. just a very cold and unhelpful experience. Bummed that are go to spot is no longer an option for our family. we don't need much, but to not be treated like guests while paying over $400/night and being longtime repeat customers is disappointing.

Yelp
Check-in was a breeze.Property is hella cute,. It has a professional yet hip vibe. The artsy layout is wonderful. Double bed rm was spacious & comfortable for 2 adults and our 17yr old.Bathroom door is a barn style slide, so if you're rooming w/strangers, you may not feel so comfortable but it's really in its own area of the room. Families,You'll be okay.Breakfast is simple & light(Bagel, eggs, ham, whole fruit juices, cereal, yogurt) Grab and go or sit and enjoy. Their lobby is good for lounging or working. They have the cutest courtyard with a large fire pit & lots of seating. Front desk and room attendants are very helpful. Close to public transportation, Harvard, MIT, Boston. Great location. Lots of parking. Totally loved & enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

Yelp
My kids and I stayed here for a fencing tournament. I was daunted by the reviews, but it was walking distance to the fencing club, so we took a chance on it. I was pleasantly surprised. Parking was super easy (you do have to pay $10 to park there overnight.) The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was fun, spacious, and clean. Some of the reviews on here complained that the rooms were smelly. Our room smelled fresh and clean. I loved the citrus-scented soap. Our room was on the 5th floor, directly across from the elevators, and I was a little bit worried that it would be noisy there, but it wasn't, and we all slept well. There's a restaurant downstairs with lots of kid-friendly food, and breakfast was included. Breakfast was supposed to start at 7:00. We came down early because we had to get to the tournament early, and I was happily surprised to see breakfast was already out, even the hot food. The scrambled eggs and French toast were a bit meh, but it did the trick. There was also fruit, yogurt, bagels, and a few different cereals. The only thing I think the hotel should improve upon is the restaurant situation. There are no waiters or even a host, and you are supposed to order your own food from the provided computer or your phone, seat yourself, and then pick up your food from a counter when you get a text that it's ready. However, none of this is clear when you walk in. If you aren't going to have real, live people there to greet guests, at least have some clear signage telling them what to do. It was busy when we arrived, with a large group around the bar. We stood around for a few minutes, trying to figure out what the deal was. We saw the computer to order, but weren't sure if that was just for to-go orders. I finally made my way to the bartender, who was very nice and explained the whole system to me. A bit later, a man who was sitting near us asked if a waiter comes to take the orders, and I had to explain the whole system to him. It shouldn't be that confusing. Overall, though, the stay met all of our needs, and the location was perfect for our purposes.

Yelp
The room was comfortable. The service at the front desk is wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed having the soft beds which were quite large and fluffy. Room was very clean and so was the bathroom. I would definitely recommend. Surrounding area had places to eat within walking distance.

Yelp
I'm giving Studio Alston Hotel a three star rating because of their "facilities fee". They will charge you an additional $40 per night that they say is for parking and breakfast, however, if you don't park or eat breakfast, they still charge it - it is not optional. So basically, whatever price you get, add an additional $40 per night. It's also worth noting that if you are in the part of the hotel that has most of the rooms, you may need to take an elevator to the second floor, and then walk across the breezeway, get on another elevator, and then walk to your room. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the overall hotel decor is upbeat and there was plenty of parking.

Yelp
Decided to stay here while visiting Boston for the first time. It was an affordable option right outside the city. As far as location goes, it was great. I didn't mind the short drive to get to the many Boston sites and attractions. It was very close to Harvard, walking distance to a great diner called The Breakfast Club (as well as a Trader Joe's, McDonald's, Starbucks, and a Chase ATM) and across the street was a lovely park next to the Charles River. We usually took an Uber into town and left the car at the hotel. If you bring a car, there's a small parking garage which had plenty of spaces during our stay. The room was a decent size and while it doesn't look as bright and sharp as the photos on the website, the artwork on the walls brought some funk and fun to the room. I liked having a big TV and outlets on the nightstand for both beds. The only downfall that I did not like was that the bathroom door didn't close all the way. It's a sliding, barn style door and it didn't give you the privacy one needs when using the restroom. The shower could've been cleaner too. I would've liked more storage places as well to keep luggage and hang clothes and towels up. The walls were quite thin so we could hear our neighbors chatting late at night and the garbage trucks and the people working them loudly woke us up very early one morning. The room has a small fridge but it kept our waters and leftovers nice and cold. They have a decent selection for their continental breakfast which was nice. Hard boiled eggs, instant oatmeal, granola bars, yogurt, waffle maker, and fresh pastries like spinach ricotta croissants, pumpkin muffins, etc. There is a Mexican restaurant on site, called Casa Caña. We didn't have time to eat there, but the smell wafting into the lobby smelled delicious and I would try it next trip. There is a beautiful patio to sit at decorated with string lights and a fire pit. Perfect place to relax after a long day! The lobby was visually appealing with all the local artwork decorating the wall. Makes for some great photo opps! While it wasn't perfect, it provided a very comfortable stay. We barely spent time in the room, just mostly needed a place to shower and sleep. The beds were quite comfy. If you're looking for a comfy, affordable place near Boston with a nice atmosphere to relax among the hotel grounds, this would be the ideal place to stay and I'd definitely return. I would give about 3.5 stars.

Yelp
I stayed here for two nights with a friend who was visiting Boston for the first time. Overall good experience staying here. The art on the walls appears to be a physical manifestation of an acid trip, or at least what I imagine one would be like (I mean this as a compliment). The rooms have little booklets with information on the art that is unique to each room, as well as information about the local artists and their favorite places in Boston. This detail makes this unique compared to others hotels I've visited. There's a workout room in the basement with a few cardio machines and some dumbbells. Not much in terms of amenities here otherwise. Breakfast is grab and go stuff, like coffee, tea, and baked goods. Room was comfortable, although the bathroom ceiling was low and had some mysterious stains. Aside from that, everything was clean. Having a mini fridge in the room was convenient since my friend brought delicious key lime pies from Miami. Front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming. Check-in and check-out process was easy. There was a hold of about $100 for incidentals that took several days after check out to drop. Not sure why it took that long since other hotels I've stayed at dropped charges much quicker, but at least I wasn't charged for anything. The main downside of this hotel is that it's not in a place where it's easy to access public transportation. If you have a car or don't mind walking/getting a ride to places, then this is a good affordable alternative to the pricey hotels downtown.

Shaienne K.

Yelp
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Super clean, super cutesy, breakfast included, pet friendly and the absolute best part of this place is the staff. Mo and Mel made our stay over the top incredible. We arrived late and cranky and Mo was a ray of sunshine without being over the top. He was quick and efficient, made incredible recommendations and made sure we were taken care of. The next morning Mel did exactly the same. Customer service is NOT what it used to be, but you can tell these two employees understand what quality service means. They genuinely enjoy being in the industry and are definitely the reason we won't even look to stay anywhere else for our next trip to MA.

Yelp
Ok this place is fantastic! I'm afraid to leave a great review because we will never get another room LOL! Such a unique and charming place to stay! The rooms were pretty cool and clean. The funky lobby was welcoming and the staff was great. Continental breakfast was included and enjoyable.

Yelp
My family and I had a great time staying at Studio Allston Hotel. I always appreciate a straight forward check-in, engaging decor, fun stuff in the lobby, and cute and delicious things for sale (I was jazzed to get a puzzle of one of the photographs in my room). The staff were a delight to engage with - and because I extended my reservation a few times, I got to meet a few of them. Shout out to Sean Marren. The breakfast (in the Casa Caña space) was great and though I wasn't able to attend, there was a wine tasting event during my stay. The artwork in the adjoining building is a great way to spend some time as well. For those of you traveling for business or looking to host onsite events, their conference rooms can be booked. They've listed many of the room specifics on their site too (the nerve of them being so organized). I look forward to hosting a few of my own workshops there in the future. All in all, it's a great option for out of towners and locals looking for a little getaway.

Yelp
The Studio Allston felt like home away from home during a difficult time. This hotel is so conveniently located. It's 5 minutes from St. Elizabeth's hospital, next to a McDonald's, and a supermarket. It's also really close to the highway. Check in was really easy. I was greeted and helped right away by Sean, the assistant manager. Whether you're staying for a fun weekend or on business, this place just offers a lot. Tonight, they hosted a social hour with free wine and charcuterie. Although I sadly couldn't go, they kindly offered me some wine when I asked how it turned out. My initial stay was booked for two nights, but I decided to extend it since my dad just had open heart surgery. Not only did they match the Groupon price, but Sean kindly offered a better rate. The much appreciated hospitality and just plain old human compassion went such a long way after a very long and emotional day. I didn't feel like I was staying at just another chain hotel, I felt like someone actually cared and went the extra mile to help. The decor and artwork is really beautiful, colorful, and fun. There's a super chill vibe in the lobby. The standard queen room is also really spacious, well decorated, functional and updated. The tv is brand new and there's an adorable little retro mini fridge. Cute little round table where I worked from. Wifi was pretty solid during all my virtual meetings. Bed was comfy, and the bathroom was clean. I would go out of my way to stay here again because there are a ton of restaurants, cafes, etc. and it seems like a slightly calmer yet still fun alternative to staying in downtown Boston. Good deal through Groupon Breakfast included. Free parking!

Yelp
We stayed here 3 years ago. Had a really great experience. The pandemic must have really hit them hard. When we checked in the woman just could not be bothered. Did not feel welcome. We got to our room. It's a room right? We have an event to go to and it's a place to rest our heads. The towels (multiple) smelled like mildew. You would hang something on a hook and it would fall out of the wall. The bed I sear wasn't even a queen it felt so small. The breakfast is included. Continental which is always a nice option except when you're getting stale food. It is a great location and a cute place. Hopefully it will turn around and we can have a better experience in the future.

Yelp
Oh boy! This hotel has dramatically gone downhill in 3 years! DO NOT STAY HERE! The main hotel was great 3 years ago but we were put in the BACK BUILDING. The entire building smells like rotting garbage and sewage. We didn't even care that we had to pay for a night - we high tailed it out of there and stayed at a much nicer Boston hotel. There are plenty of options nearby leagues better. I'll say the folks that work there are very clean and polite but even the main building you can smell the garbage. There seems to be a serious issue with the property. Keep away from Studio Allston!

Kristy B.

Yelp
My daughter and I checked in today...wish I could afford another hotel! The pictures online make the hotel look artsy and funky, however as soon as you walk in the door, there is an awful smell. It is in no way a 3 star hotel, basically, it is a motel feel. The room size was fine and they offered for us to upgrade to a higher floor with a view of the river and said it would be much quieter. Shouldn't have bothered as you can barely see the river, but you get a great view of the parking lot. They also put us in a room directly across from the elevator..so much for quieter! The room had the same unpleasant smell, like stale or rotten. The bathroom is horrible. The r e is a glass sliding door on a roller, but it doesn't even close properly. Absolutely no privacy. The tub was full of grey putty ,looked dirty and gross. What the hell is the extra resort charge? This is as far away from a resort as possible! Do yourself a favor and DO NOT STAY HERE!

Yelp
We stayed here back in February. It was affordable and in a good enough location for what we wanted to do, but it's not particularly accessible from the T. The room was big, and it had a mini-fridge and they were able to bring us up a microwave. They were also very accommodating of our early arrival. Breakfast every day was super convenient and had good variety. The bathrooms were quite small and ours had some issues draining the tub on our last day. There was no info about housekeeping services, but it appeared that housekeeping was either cut back or did not come for several days we were there, which wasn't great. It's not a luxurious hotel by any stretch but did the job for a budget trip.

Yelp
Husband stayed for business. I came for the day. Beautiful room, excellent breakfast. Spoke with Maria, very sweet. Sean Marren tried the grip tester with my husband for a free room and review. Not necessary, absolutely love this place!!

Yelp
We were in Boston for college tours and an anniversary celebration this weekend so we opted--out of staying at a chain hotel to support a smaller Boutique property. Based on the web-site photos, Studio Allston fit the bill. So, I booked directly with them, and while the price per night was high, the experience they promised seemed worth it. My family and I were taken aback when we arrived late Friday night and given one of the last available rooms. The glossy photos on their website were clearly manipulated (pristine rooms with fake views from every window) and the property description failed to mention that this is basically a road side motel. Since the welcome email encouraged feedback, I personally went to the front desk to share my concerns and asked if we could be moved to a room reflective of what we were laying per night (and one that was quieter and had working air-conditioning). The woman at the front desk replied "every room is the same," "it's a marketing issue" and "all the hotels rates in Boston charge the same." How do you even begin to argue with this logic? With all that said, the woman did promise to speak with her revenue team to see how they might adjust the rate to reflect the room I ended up receiving. The text or phone call she promised never came, and when I checked out they made no acknowledgment of our conversation. We learned a few very expensive lessons this weekend: 1) Never trust a hotels website 2) Never book directly through the hotel 3) Read the reviews carefully before you book

Yelp
I write this review within the context of this hotel coming off a COVID year in which they generated zero income. Therefore, some of the small things that one might note needing attention, might have had to wait until revenues are generated. I'm an unabashed cheerleader for businesses who take risks. Studio Allston has done this by taking over and renovating a Days Inn. Service: Outstanding. Each time we walked in the front door the desk attendant said hello. A couple of times we must have looked confused and they actively asked us if we needed help. We asked for a late checkout on our second stay (see below) to 2:00 p.m. No problem. Rooms: You will read about the artsy decor. The rooms are painted in a different style with bold, contrasting colors and designs. Both rooms we stayed in (we stayed twice - once for two nights an once again for a single night, all within a 5 day period) had murals above the double queen beds (very comfortable) and different types of prints on the walls. I'm not an art aficionado. Didn't really matter to me. But neither did I find any of it unpleasant. I actually like the bold colors. (Both rooms had deep purple chairs. :-) ) Refrigerators are very small and are also in the artful mode. (First room we had it was bright red.) They sit on the floor. No microwave. That would have been nice. TV is huge and very clear. Cooling and heating was good. Everything else was pretty standard hotel furnishings. (Both rooms had only one waste basket. It would be nice to have another. Also both rooms only had 2 water glasses. When there are two queen beds it would seem only natural to assume that more than two people may be using it.) Good size bathroom. Good shower. Very clean and bright. You will read on here some criticism of the barn door style bathroom doors. Some of it is true. They would not have been my first choice for a bathroom door but ... They slide VERY quietly and have a full length opaque window. The problem is that the door and the opening for the door are almost an exact match in terms of dimensions. Therefore, you do end up with a space in which your privacy can be compromised. In our second room the space was more noticeable and, if the door to the hallway was open, someone outside could look in if they really wanted to. By their very nature, neither can they seal in smells or completely muffle sound. It seems a simple extension to the doors or some sort or even just a flexible piece of rubber that closed the gap would help in all aspects. The bathroom door is not a deal breaker for me. (One other thing: there is no fan in the bathroom only a vent. But like all other hotels it seems, vents in bathrooms seem to be more decoration than anything else. Rarely do they seem to work.) Breakfast: I'm a meat guy and the breakfast served no meat or eggs. Having said that, breakfast was quite good. The two gals monitoring the breakfast kept everything filled up. Plenty of coffee, instant oatmeals, bananas, apples, pears, and yogurts. The pastries were outstanding: muffins, croissants, danishes, etc. Very fresh. Not in packages. The one hot item was waffles and one of the attendants would actually make it for you and bring it to your table. The check in, lobby, and breakfast area are huge. Stayed in the lobby on our first go round (see above) and finished some internet correspondence. Very airy. Lots of seating. Very comfortable. Finishing this review after we've checked out on our second stay. Parking: Excellent and just as advertised. We parked right in front of the hotel but there was plenty of parking out back as well. Restaurant/Bar: Spanish/Mexican theme. Not my cup of tea but the service was very good and it's certainly very convenient. Assuming like all other businesses they are trying to get things up and going again after COVID. Hotel is located directly across from a beautiful city park and the Charles River and within walking distance of Harvard. My last comment: stay clear of rooms ending in 04 or 05. Those are directly across from the elevators and the sound of "whooshing" elevator doors is incessant. The folks who stay at this hotel are an eclectic group. Young, old, hipsters, and conservatives (us). We found our experience here to be very good. Would recommend it and wish them good luck in making a go of it.

Yelp
I feel that this hotel can be much better for the price and location. There's a resort fee of $57 but no amenities that we were made aware of that would warrant that price. The rooms are a decent size, with small bathrooms. There's not a lot of outlets/power in the room which is weird. Also the plug on our lamp did not work. The hotel wall's are very thin so you can hear people in the hallway all night. We were in the lobby on a Friday night around 11 and we were literally hushed by the security guard/front desk attendant because we were laughing. It was rude but whatever, we shrugged it off. The breakfast offered (I guess that's what the resort fee is for) included muffins/danishes and coffee.

Yelp
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Terrible location, loud throughout the night, dirty sheets, appliances that don't work, thermostat that didn't work, and (mostly) unfriendly staff. I arrived and my fridge didn't work nor did the phone. Jose, the engineer was the best part of the whole hotel experience. He was absolutely fantastic in changing out the fridge and replacing the phone as well. I booked two nights because it was relatively cheap and parking was included but stayed the one night and left the next morning. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money for a decent hotel.

Yelp
Although the ambiance of this hotel is great, the staff were friendly and helpful, and my room was clean, I stayed for one night in the winter and the heat did not work. Boston, winter, & no heat do not mix. The host told me I needed to wait for 45 for the heat to come on, but it never did. Luckily I was able to get a space heater from them, but this place really needs to get the heat/boiler system going in this building.

Yelp
Don't have a single complaint about this hotel. The room was clean and didn't smell. The staff was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Free parking. Quick and easy check in/out. Would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
I didn't appreciate this hotel. It is very expensive for what you get, and there were a couple little things that just didn't fall my way. I'm surprised that Booking.com thinks it is as good as they say it is. I won't stay here on my next trip.

Yelp
We booked thru Hotels.com. Looked like a cool hotel, with nice rooms. Our disappointment came as soon as we checked in. Had several guest ahead of us, so we waited. When our turn came up no greeting, just are you checking in? The desk clerk looked like a hipster, not taking much interest in his job. We had come in with our luggage, but he told us we would be in the back of the hotel in a second building and it was closer for us to drive around the back. So we lug our luggage back out to the car and drive around. My guess is if you book through a site, you will also be in the far back of the hotel. We also had a gross view of the trash piled up back next the the hotel. I'll post a picture. Nothing like the lovely photos of the rooms the hotel show on it sites. What a joke. As far as the room it was clean newly decorated, bathroom was pretty small. Plus was the 2 queen beds. Well, it keeps getting better so the trash truck arrived at 5:30am and their was so much trash he had to move the bins out just to empty, of course all the left over trash didn't get picked up.

Yelp
We were really hoping for something unique and fun for our 15 year wedding anniversary, but we were sorely disappointed. $1000 for two nights in a room where the tub was broken, the toilet was leaking onto the floor and our heat didn't work. Bed was uncomfortable with thin bedding and the walls were thin so you could hear everything happening in the rooms around us. We mentioned it several times to the front desk and only got our "convenience fee" of $25 per night refunded. An absolute joke.

Yelp
Nice, modern, cute. You can tell that this building wasn't built for a hotel and instead was retrofitted with one, but I do really like it! Had to kill a spider in our room but I'm not too concerned. The art in the facility is amazing and is mostly local, but has work from bigger, non-mainstream entities as well. We haven't tried Casa Caña because we weren't dressed for it (OpenTable shows a "business casual" dress code) so we went somewhere else for dinner. Oh there's a ping-pong table in the lobby! Anyway, the parking is decent. You can get to the front from heading East on Soldiers Field Rd or West on Western Ave, the latter bringing you to the back of the building where you have to drive up the side to the front. The staff are polite even though I've only ever seen the one guy at the front desk all night. The other guests are kind, don't mind holding the door for you or saying thank you when you do... a bit different from southern Connecticut, and we're only 2-3hrs away. One other thing, you can hear the downstairs area quite well, including some sort of machine or generator for trash or something. The latter, only in the morning though. All-in-all, I do give this place a mega thumb's up!

Yelp
Beware -- this hotel has a no-cancellation policy even if you cancel more than a month before your arrival date.

Yelp
I would like to preface this by saying I rarely write reviews, I certainly rarely write bad ones but I think it's warranted in this case. The rooms are fine-big and moderately clean; although my allergies were triggered most of my stay because of the dust. The halls etc could use a deeper clean. I've stayed here on multiple occasions the first time (around when it first opened) was excellent. Since that time it's gone down hill and very fast. On my last two stays here the maid has knocked on the hotel room door at ~8am. I'm a very light sleeper and it usually takes me a while to fall back asleep; by the time I finally got back to sleep my alarm went off. I spoke with the manager Christine she was terribly rude, didn't even acknowledge that her staff was unprofessional or apologize for the experience. She instead told me that I have complained about this in the past, the issue was with me and that she needs to charge me a $25 fee for an hour. There is NO OTHER HOTEL that does that; I stay at hotels every weekend. If a place does charge for late check out it's typically for more than that; at least 2 hours. Also be aware of hidden fees; if you have more than one car you will be charged an additional $30 (not stated on HT and I also couldn't find it on their website) This place is a complete ripoff, and the staff is extremely rude. I will never stay here again; and I highly suggest you don't either!

Yelp
Really bad hotel. So many hidden terms. What's the resort fee for? There's nothing ! Be careful. We don't even able to check in at 2pm. Need to pay $35 extra! Avoid this hotel.

Yelp
When you have a confirmation number on a reservation at Studio Allston Hotel, that does not mean that they will actually reserve the room you selected. They will sell your confirmed reservations to other people and offer you whatever rooms they have left, if any.

Yelp
I had plans to travel to see at friend at MIT, but had to cancel because they're sending everyone home due to COVID-19. When I tried to cancel my reservation, the hotel only offered me around ~40% of what I paid as a credit for a future stay. I tried to explain that the person I was going to see in Boston wasn't going to be there any more, but they wouldn't budge. I understand that this is a hard time for hotels, but treating customers this was during a national crisis is completely unreasonable, not to mention greedy.

Yelp
This is a really fun hotel! There is unique art in every room and in the lobby and lounge areas, and it has a great bar/restaurant area that includes a large outdoor area with a modern fire pit thing. It has a GREAT ping pong table. The hotel is right across the street from the Charles River, which was a great place to relax at the beginning and end of every day during our stay. The hotel is very close to downtown Boston, but far enough away from the hustle/bustle. And there are a lot of nice restaurants nearby the hotel. (We highly recommend Carlos' Cucina Italiana!). I've stayed here twice and both times the rooms were comfortable and clean. Kudos to the general manager, Arnoldo, and front desk person, Melissa, for going the extra mile to make my brother and I comfortable; Their focus on customer comfort and satisfaction was really impressive.

Yelp
Clean, quiet, conveniently designed and located, and with fun art everywhere, not the usual pastel hotel stuff. Breakfast in the bar was good, the small basement gym is useful, and the staff is cheerful and helpful. Martlyn in particular was great and made me glad I'd chosen Studio Allston. While you're there, check out the Japanese hot pot restaurant across the street - it was fantastic!

Yelp
Studio is by far my favorite hotel stay in the Boston area. I work for Harvard and won't choose any other overnight accommodation. It is low-stress check-in with free parking, fitness room exceeded my expectations, and a full assortment of breakfast and coffee options in the morning! The staff are readily available and really care about your experience. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the hotel is quiet and safe. Sean Marren is an excellent manager who personally reached out to ensure I had a great experience. Look forward to returning soon!

Yelp
As many reviews have mentioned, there seems to be two vastly different types of rooms at this hotel. We were first checked into room 331 and had one of the most miserable experiences ever. The room is right next to a LOUD generator, in the alleyway where garbage is picked up LOUDLY at 6am, and adjacent to the LOUD elevator. The walls were paper thin and we were constantly being woken up every few minutes by a new noise. One of the worst nights of sleep I have ever had. However, the manager Sean kindly changed our room the next night and provided great customer service. We were switched to room 508 and it was perfect. Beautiful room, great view of the Charles river, and quiet. The rooms and decor of the hotel as a whole are beautiful. The artwork is great. The hotel restaurant is delicious and I would HIGHLY recommend their brunch. I would definitely stay here again, provided that I got one of the "good rooms" facing the Charles river. Whatever you do, make sure your room is not facing the skating rink and generator.

Yelp
second time staying at studio allston. zero complaints. clean. super convenient to downtown boston/cambridge. reasonable. (only negative: added charge for the gym is a joke). easy parking and decent breakfast. would def recommend (but only if driving).

Yelp
The lobby is nice when you come in. Everything is very modern artsy and hipster-esque which was new and interesting. The staff was nice. We were attending a concert at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway and the hotel is in a good location to get there. We stayed in a room on the 3rd floor with double queen beds. Everything seemed clean and the beds were comfortable enough. We paid a lot of money so we expected something more on the luxury side, but it was very average. The one thing that stood out was the unique art on the walls and the big TV. The bathroom door is like a barn style sliding door and it doesn't actually close, just covers the doorway, so there is a big gap. If you were to have an unpleasant bathroom experience, everyone in the room could hear you. My biggest problem was the AC. When we arrived in the room, it was hot. We turned on the cooling and set the AC to 65. It was late so we went to bed thinking it would cool down. We woke up around 2:30am and the thermostat said it was 83 degrees in the room. We called the lobby and they informed us then that they turned off the AC for the whole building. They brought us a box fan and it was a lot better, but no one told us that the AC would only blast hot air. On booking.com it said AC was one of the amenities, too. I would have stayed somewhere else had I known their AC was turned off indefinitely. Breakfast is included but it's just grab and go stuff. I would've given more stars if it weren't so expensive. I feel like it didn't live up to the price tag.

Yelp
So if course the images online far outshine the reality of this hotel. We arrived late last night to our room. The sheets smelled nice and the bed is comfy, however we had a hard time showering without a shower current. When I saw the photos online I thought the bathrooms were going to be spa like. But it feels more like an old folks home with balance bars and a seat in the bath. We are here for three nights, so we are happy the bed is nice. Also we love when places are dog friendly. So all in all a thumbs up

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Studio Allston for our last night in the Boston area. We found the hotel on the Hotels for Tonight app for a decent price, so we were all in. However, when we got to Studio Allston, we were disappointed with our room. Why? - The air conditioner didn't work, so we had to call the front desk to send up a repair man. - The bathroom has a sliding door. It wasn't working properly and jammed. I got stuck in the bathroom for 10 minutes. - The ice machine on our floor didn't work. - Construction workers for the bistro downstairs began using loud buzz saws at 6:30 a.m. To their credit, when we complained about these things, the manager comped the hotel fees ($11) and our small breakfast in the morning ($14). Would not stay here again.

Yelp
I stayed at Studio Allston Hotel for a couple nights in early July 2019. The room art was really cool and I liked that there was an artist bio plaque also located in the room that detailed the artist and their artistic vision. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything I needed during my stay. I'm a single guy so when I travel, I don't need bells and whistles in the hotel room because I spend most of my time out and about in town. The room I stayed in was perfect for a traveler such as myself. Additionally, the location of Studio Allston is perfect - it is a very short drive from Boston University, seaport, downtown, Newbury Street, etc. Although it is relatively close to these Boston tourist hotspots, it feels like it is in it's own quiet part of town. Very tranquil, very cool. Thanks Studio Allston - I'll be back!

Yelp
They have a quite noisy annoying noise in the room that made me headache, I asked to change room, they said all rooms on top floor are having the same noise. Finally assigned us a room on lower level, no view and facing a warehouse. Ok doesn't matter, the noise was there but bearable. Then we settled and about to sleep. The air con right on top of the bed woke us up every 15 to 20 minutes. Never had such loud noise from an air con! I think this hotel really needs a thorough check up!! We paid almost $300 for 2 nights. Not worth a dime!!
