During our short trip to Kuching, my wife and a few friends decided to visit the DBKU Cat Museum. It is located quite far from the city centre, so we drove there.
When we arrived, it happened to be raining. We parked outside the museum, but there were no covered walkways from the parking area to the entrance, so we had to make a quick dash in the rain. It would be helpful if covered access could be added in the future.
The entrance fee for Malaysians is very affordable at RM3 per person, which makes it accessible for families and casual visitors. Inside, the museum showcases the history of cats, different breeds and various cat themed artworks.
There is also a merchandise section, and my wife ended up buying a pair of cat design earrings, which she was quite pleased with.
For me personally, the visit felt average overall. It was interesting at first, especially reading about the different types of cats, but after a while I found it a bit repetitive and not particularly lively. I actually left earlier than my wife and our friends, who took more time exploring.
One feature I did enjoy was the fish pond outside near the staircase. It has a fogging effect that makes the setting look quite unique and is nice for photos.
Overall, it is an okay place to visit once, and it would be great if the museum could introduce more interactive elements to make the experience more engaging.
