A Guide to Food Tours Around D.C. | Eater DC

"Foodies can name their own price for the Eastern Market Pastries Tour, which explores historic sites on Capitol Hill and ends with indulgences at Eastern Market (tour guests purchase their own snacks); DC by Foot also arranges private events such as a Georgetown Cupcake Walking Tour and a U Street History and Food Tour." - Julekha Dash

Our small group (2 seniors and our 12-year old grandson) toured Georgetown with guide Ingeborg on an early Saturday evening. We started with a surprise from Ingeborg - - - pastries from a local bakery! Yum :), and a short history of the historical neighborhood. This was followed by a comprehensive walking tour, primarily of residential areas. Ingeborg explained the various architectural styles and how they progressed throughout the 1800's. She shared interesting stories about the neighborhood, and the many historical and social events that have occurred there. She answered every question we asked. I especially appreciated the streetscape and how well-maintained the homes remain notwithstanding their age. It's a truly beautiful and vibrant neighborhood. We finished the tour at Georgetown University and then, we visited the top of the "Exorcist Steps". All and all we had a wonderful and illuminating time. Ingeborg was engaging, friendly, fun, professional, and very well-prepared. We highly recommend this 2-hour tour. Bring water!

We really enjoyed the Historic Georgetown walking tour on November 8. Our tour guide, Eli, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Washington is our favorite city to visit in the USA and we have done many different tours over the years. This one really stands out. We highly recommend!

My wife and I did the walking tour of the Arlington cemetery with DC by Foot. We both live in the DMV and have been to the cemetery a bunch but thanks to this tour and our tour guide, Trevor, we got a fresh perspective on the cemetery and learned a ton of history. It was really fun and a great way to spend the day. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone, even locals that have been to the cemetery many times!

The "DC by Foot" Georgetown Historical Walking Tour led by Vickie was outstanding. Vickie was charming, well-informed, and engaging. Her tour was a perfect mix of history and riveting stories about Georgetown and its beautiful neighborhoods and homes, the C&O canal, the university, and other landmarks. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

We loved the Arlington cemetery tour with Travis! He was beyond knowledgeable and also really entertaining! It was wonderful way to see a landmark and learn a ton with just the right amount of walking to get exercise but not be tired afterwards. Thank you, Travis and Canden!

We went on the moonlight monument tour and had Vicky as our guide. Could not have asked for a better guide for this trip. DC is absolutely beautiful to see the monuments at night and Vicky was so full of information and made the night a great tour for our family. We highly recommend!!!

Toured last night on the ghost tour with Katherine and she was fabulous! She is very knowledgeable and super sweet. My tween daughter who didn’t want to do the toured, loved it, including my spouse who hates ghost tours but had no choice . Highly recommend this tour !

We took 2 tours with this company during the duration of our visit to Washington DC. We had Gavin as a tour guide for the Moonlight & Monuments tour. We are so glad that we saw the monuments in this way as we learned a lot and got a chance to see them all lit up. Gavin was a great guide. We also loved our Georgetown Ghost Tour with Eli! He was knowledgeable, interesting, and a great story teller. I’d highly recommend this tour as it’s a great way to see Georgetown and learn a bit about it in a fun way. Our 11 year old daughter was with us, and she had a great time as well. It’s definitely family friendly. Thanks, Eli!
