De Grendel Wine Estate and Restaurant

We had Christmas in July hosted by Miltons for Pam Golding Properties. Truly an amazing time. The atmosphere and the views were stunning. Lovely time. Food was divine. The staff were professional and friendly. Overall experience was a breathe of fresh air.

This was our favourite vineyard we visited during our time in the Western Cape. The farm tour is a must, Douglas gave us a wonderful tour of both the wildlife and rich history of the vineyard. Following our tour, we sat down and tried an amazing selection of wines. The consistency across every variation of wines was incredibly impressive. We would recommend to everyone and definitely visit again.

Was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem! The restaurant's cozy atmosphere and stunning view of the city lights set the tone for a wonderful dining experience. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and provided exceptional service. For starters, the chicken dish was the winner, but the seared tuna, while nicely presented, lacked seasoning. Unfortunately, there was a lengthy delay between courses, which affected the quality of the mains. The steak, when it finally arrived, seemed to have been sitting out for a while. However, the line fish was cooked to nicely. We ended the meal on a high note with the delicious apple tart dessert. Overall, despite some minor missteps, this restaurant's charm, attentive service, and tasty dishes make it a great spot to enjoy a night out.

Got engaged here on a beautiful evening with the sun setting over Cape Town. Quite a magical experience. Food was superb and the wine was exceptional. Had both a bottle of chardonnay and a bottle of the Rubaiyat blend (no we did not finish them both at dinner). Service was top notch. Will be back soon.

Of course, an experience of this caliber comes with an upper-class price tag, but for those who appreciate fine dining, exceptional service, and a setting as breathtaking as this, it is worth every cent. De Grendel is one of the most beautiful wine estates I have visited in the Cape. The location alone makes it unforgettable – from the terrace you have a breathtaking view across the vineyards and all the way to Table Mountain, which creates a picture-perfect setting for wine tasting. The atmosphere is relaxed yet stylish, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the moment. The wines are excellent, with a wide range that offers something for every taste, and they are clearly made with care and passion. I particularly enjoyed how approachable they were – you don’t need to be a wine expert to appreciate them. The staff were outstanding: friendly, professional, and always ready to share a story or recommendation, which made the experience feel very personal and welcoming. What makes De Grendel stand out for me is the balance of everything: fantastic views, delicious wines, warm hospitality, and a peaceful setting that makes you want to stay longer than planned. It’s not just a winery, but a place where you truly experience the beauty and charm of Cape Town’s wine culture. A must-visit for anyone exploring the Western Cape.

With a picture-perfect view, we were fortunate to enjoy a wine tasting at de Grendel. The staff was professional and they really looked the part. We enjoyed the large variety of wines and loved the cheese board. It was a lovely memorable experience.
