De Hoop Collection

My family stayed at one of the Opstal houses with my brother and his family. We took a mid morning Eco Boat Cruise and wowee, how stunning was that! The guide had so much knowledge about the bird and plant life. The kids really enjoyed the trip (and the food on the boat!!). The Fig Tree restaurant was exceptional. A nice selection of wines, a lot of them from the area. The food was well presented and tasted great. Top on the list, is the view from the restaurant. You could sit there and forget you ever need to go home. Absolutely stunning!

What a magical place - we love the simplicity and returning to what really matters in life. A fantastic opportunity to recharge from busy city lives. De Hoop feels alive and vibrant, whether on the land or in the sea. The staff are wonderfully helpful but in no way intrude. We've visited many times and will definitely be back. Thanks to all who contribute the ongoing success of the De Hoop Collection.

When an invite for a hike cross my desk, I will never say no and I absolutely jumped on board to join the de Hoop collection team to see what they offer. The hiking was awesome, fun and in beautiful terrain. Our accommodation was comfortable, clean and we had staff looking after us from the word go. The level of service was excellent, the food was great - hearty soul food, exactly what you needed after a day of hiking. Lots of different things to do and experience - I need to go back and stay longer to do everything!

The location is amazing but it is 35 km drive on unmade road to get there!|The room was outstanding and the area so peaceful. |We did the marine walk and this was amazing and definitely recommend it.|We also did the nature drive which was good too.|The food was okay but not great if you are a vegetarian as no choice.

We love the fauna and flora at De Hoop Reserve. The birdlife is amazing, and the sandy beaches are really special. ||The Opstal accommodation is dated and needs improvement. We stayed in a three-bedroom house with only one toilet. The cupboards in the rooms are dirty, and the place needs a proper deep clean. ||No fans or air conditioning are provided, and the staff advises keeping windows closed because of snakes, which makes it uncomfortable. We had to go and buy a fan to make the evenings bearable.

Beautiful grounds surrounded by nature, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The suite (Otter Suite) was very clean and well maintained. The food was slightly above average. There are also various excursions that you can book.

We stayed for one night in one of the Equipped Cottages and we enjoyed it. The cottages are not very modern but clean, cozy, and it's a special experience to sleep in the nature reserve with all the animals around.

Amazing place with lots of ostriches, zebras, antelopes and baboons roaming around the housing units! Some of the reviews here complain about the long gravel road. It's actually very decent, there are no potholes. Just drive slowly because of wildlife!
