We stayed for four nights. On the first day, we entered our room. It was very cold (17°C). We turned on the air conditioning to warm it up. After an hour, the temperature remained the same. I then called reception for a solution. Fortunately, the woman I spoke to was very responsive and told us that the air conditioning had been broken for two days. She then moved us to another room for our stay within half an hour. Thank you to her! Next time, however, avoid putting guests in rooms before the air conditioning is repaired, especially in winter. The room was well-furnished, with everything you need for cooking. The cleaning could be more thorough in some areas, but overall it was clean (a few marks on the shower walls, stains on some sheets and towels, no mattress protector, a sewer smell in the bathroom, and the shower soap dispensers were almost empty). Our room faced the street, and you can definitely hear the passersby. Bring earplugs. Finally, on three out of four mornings, the fire alarm went off. I tried calling reception to have someone turn it off. The first morning, it was done within 15 minutes. The other two mornings, it was earlier (around 9 am), and no one answered. The alarm sounded continuously for over an hour. I hope that if there's ever a fire, reception will be more responsive if it happens before 10 am... Otherwise, the location is quite convenient, right on the tram line to the train station. The neighborhood is rather quiet and pleasant, with parks, restaurants, etc. We had no problems with the QR codes; they worked perfectly.

Me and a friend stayed here over the weekend from Saturday to Tuesday. We do both believe the check in and out times are very harsh considering there aren’t really any places to leave your suitcase before or after check in and out which isn’t ideal. When we arrived at 13:00pm on Saturday we rang the helpline as we couldn’t find the entry email. The gentleman that opened the door was quite rude and unhelpful as we wanted to leave our suitcases but didn’t know our room number. We eventually found the email with the room number which I think should be explained prior. The location was good close to a cafe and tram stops and not far from the centre. The room was clean apart from a little bit of decoration was old (walls looked dirty downstairs) the room was spacious and great for the two of bathroom is nice and beds are very comfy. When leaving we asked a staff member where to leave bags he put them in a store cupboard. At 17:00pm we returned for our bags but our entry codes had expired and we rang the helpline multiple times but no response. We had to wait until 2 girls who were staying at the hotel came to get in when we got the the cupboard it was locked an only opened to the staff keycard. The girls lucky had a separate number and we got through to a lovely lady who helped sort the issue and expressed deep apology for the issue. Steven came from his house after work hours to come and unlock the cupboard. He also expressed deep apologies and was helpful. He was very polite and told us to stay in touch if we needed anything. Big shout out to Steven for being so helpful.

The hotel rooms were incredibly spacious and comfortable. The staff were all super friendly and welcoming, which made the stay even better. I’ll definitely be coming back! The thoughtful touch of surprising my partner with chocolate for their birthday was such a lovely gesture. Stayed in room 21

Overall really disappointing and ridiculously cold! We stayed over Christmas and were looking forward to the kitchen to make a healthy meal. Once we got back from the supermarket we found that the cooking and eating supplies/utensils were lacking. Despite having a stove there were no pots and pans. We booked for 4 people and were only given cutlery for 2-3 people. The heaters did not work. The bathroom mirror light flickered the entire time. Only if the kids heads was broken on arrival (leg was not attached). The staff responded and were apologetic but the only fix given to all of the above was to provide a tiny pan and another small pot (both too small for the large element). We were given compensation for dinner purchased on the first night when we couldn’t cook but the stay was still frustrating.

We stayed at De Jonker for the fifth time, but unfortunately this visit was not as good as our previous ones. I mentioned in the booking that we had stayed four times before and requested an upper-floor room however, we were given a smaller ground-floor room, which was said to be a suite but didn’t have the separate sitting area like before. Only one window could be slightly opened, the kitchenette was poorly equipped, and the bathroom shampoo was empty. And also, the check-in and check-out times are really harsh (4:00 PM & 10:30 AM) The only positive point was the convenient location, which we still appreciate. We used to really enjoy staying here, so I hope the management pays more attention to these details for future guests

Everything was automated, which would have been fine if it actually worked. Check-in was supposed to be online, but we never received the check-in link. Although they apologized for the mistake, we still had to spend the night at another hotel because we couldn’t access the room and no one answered the phone. The next day, when we returned for our remaining night, a housekeeper thankfully helped us get into the room. Unfortunately, we ran into similar issues at checkout, as we never received the checkout link either. While we will be getting a refund, the amount of hassle involved makes it hard to recommend this hotel. There is no reception, so we couldn’t store our luggage after checkout, which was also frustrating. Overall, the hotel felt cold and lacked any sense of human connection. On the positive side, the room itself was nice, though not the cleanest we’ve stayed in.

We stayed at De Jonker for a long weekend just gone. We were very sceptical about staying here to be honest, after reading quite a few negative reviews. All I can say is our experience was totally different. We had a last minute room change via email, so I think potentially our room was a deluxe suite. We found the room to be clean, comfortable and with everything we needed. The bathroom and shower was lovely, we had a little rail for our clothes, clean bedding and towels, and complimentary toiletries and use of an ironing board and iron downstairs. The location was great for us, the number 14 tram takes 7 minutes, if that, to get into the centre, and the tram stops literally across the road outside of the hotel. A few doors down from De Jonker is an amazing breakfast place called Box Sociaal, we went twice and would highly recommend. We had absolutely NO issues with the QR code our whole trip, I’m not sure if they have changed the system since previous reviews or if people just weren’t perhaps scanning it with their screen brightness turned up enough or at the right angle, but not once did we struggle to enter the property with ours. All in all we had a very comfortable, peaceful and enjoyable stay at De Jonker and based off of our experience, would definitely return. Thank you! :) Olivia

Stayed here for 4 nights and it was better than expected. The room was air conditioned and nice and cool which was heavenly after spending a day out in the Amsterdam heat. We were provided with robes and slippers. The bathroom comes with shampoo, soap and body wash. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. The location is great, not too close to the centre but lots of places of interest within walking distance. Highly recommend.
