Cozy place with a friendly staff. Found this bookshop in the article about the best places for children in Rotterdam. And I would agree with the author it's a great place for kids and their parents. Smaller part of this shop is a cafe with 10 tables and area with toys and books for kids and another bigger part is for books. So you can drink good coffee while you child playing with others and then have lunch all together, because they also have highchairs.

It's a really sweet shop, but it states in quite a few places online that there is a cafe.. This is no longer true. I was informed by one of the employees that this hasn't been a cafe for around 4 years....

Amazing store! They got a huge variety of t books for kids, attributes for school, toys and not the "standard" kind of toys! Along that, if you want, or are interested in boardgames, this is the place to go; there is also a huge variety of card and boardgames not to mention puzzles.

I felt like a kid again. They have a wide variety of books and educational games for kids of all ages. If you are looking for a gift, you're sure to find something suitable here. The products have been placed according to age so you don't need to browse the entire shop to find what you're looking for, though, I think you would want to explore every corner as soon as you step into the shop. There is also a café inside where you could have a drink and bite. I love this store and would definitely recommend going there.

This toy shop has very high ceilings making it very spacey and bright. Good collection of good guality toys. Very friendly nice people. A small brio train set for your kid to play while you have your coffee.

Mr frog, the big friendly giant, where the wild things are.. you cannot help but flick through your old time favourites in search of a present or something new. Take your time and linger in this airy space because there are over 5000 titles here, all stored in the wall to wall book shelves. De Kleine Kapitein is a family business with its roots in Groningen where captain senior opened a bookstore years ago. Captain junior opened the doors to a second shop in Rotterdam and moved to its current location a year ago. Besides the biggest collection of children's books they sell some great toys and furry friends. A charming cafe inside, definitely not fictional, provides refreshing drinks and seems perfect for book presentations or little get togethers. Bring your offspring here for an afternoon in wonderland and let your memories flow.
