De Kloof Heritage Estate boutique Hotel & SPA

We stayed in the Family Suite at De Kloof Heritage Estate and our experience was absolutely sensational! The cottage was beautifully furnished, spacious, and left nothing to be desired. A special thank you to Charlene, the housekeeper – she was an incredible host who anticipated our every need and made us feel truly welcome. The service was outstanding, and the breakfast was top-notch – fresh, beautifully presented, and full of thoughtful details. A truly exceptional stay. We highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Swellendam!

We loved our stay at De Kloof Luxury Estate. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Location is excellent for nearby access to shops and town centre. Loved the breakfast.

We stayed here 14 years ago, driving the garden route. We did so again this January. The historical buildings are beautiful; service was excellent as was breakfast, and the host was charming. The room and bathroom were large and very nicely appointed. All the staff were excellent. ||||This description applies both to our visit 14 years ago and our visit just now. The owners have maintained standards notwithstanding the effect Covid would have had on their business for a couple of years.||

Booking.com erroneously cancelled my original booking. So, I then booked with de Kloof direct but only the cottage was available. When we arrived, we found it up a dirt track, some way from the main complex, an unattractive dark grey building. I complained to the staff and they very kindly changed my booking to a suite en site, 'Chardonnay'. This proved excellent in all respects. A huge room and bathroom,, equipped with every comfort. The breakfasts were amazing, the pool large enough to swim properly in...and the sun shone. (ok that wasn't down to the hotel but it helped!). All in all a pleasant 2 night stay which we would thoroughly recommend. Dinner is not available but there are several restaurants in town, which should be booked in advance.

We highly recommend a stay at this beautiful Grand Dame! The friendly staff's dedication to providing excellent service ensured our comfort. Make sure not to miss the delicious breakfast!!

The Retreat at de Kloof Luxury Estate in Swellendam is a true gem! The cottage offers picturesque views and luxury accommodations, creating the perfect space for relaxation. Swellendam itself is charming, with lovely boutique shops and fantastic restaurants nearby. Marjolein, the owner, was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, including providing a delicious breakfast basket. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and can’t wait to return!

I had an amazing weekend in de Kloof! The host was very welcoming and could tell us a lot about the place and about Swellendam. I joined a yoga class in the morning, which was very relaxing and such a good experience. Breakfast was fresh and delicious.The staff is super friendly and the room was beautiful and clean. The pool has amazing views over the mountains. The location is perfect as it is so calm, but only down the street are all the restaurants. Thank you for the amazing 10/10 experience and I will be coming back for sure!
