I go along with some of my rather critically guide-fellows: it is not a bad restaurant yet it is not a special one neither. The menu offers some standards, the day’s special seems to be a bit more on the fresh side. Nevertheless it was not sparkling in taste. Service is ok, not bad, not spiky. White wine was available either-or, no selection. Good to go on a normal, average day.

Updated review: 5 stars. The food was even better than what I remembered and the music was nice. I know we can rely on De Knijp for great food when most restaurants are already closed. First review: 4 star. Great atmosphere and food. This place is open late (kitchen closes at 00:30) which is just perfect. The only thing we did not enjoy was the music, which was sending completely different vibes.

My recomendation is absolute. De Knijp is a nice folksy oldish place with a relaxed atmosphere. I was there late a Thursday after a concert. Very short walk from Concertgebouw. Had a Lamb shank, half a red wine and for dessert a Caramell with a nice Irish on the side. Even alone on business it works, but of course it’s always better to share a meal with others. But I can’t blame the restaurant for traveling by my self :) I would definately not hesitate to bring friends, colleagues or customers here. The menu is relatively short, and means quality. My lamb was perfectly done with a nice selections of potatoes and vegetables. The Caramell is one of my absolute favourites of desserts. It tasted wonderfully and absolute home made! If I also could get it luke warm I would literally be in heaven :) The Irish was nice to warm the inside with as it was a bit chilly outside. (Always important with an excuse...) :) Basically: Go here if you want to enjoy yourself with some good decent folksy food. And bring your friends!

The lamp shank is unbelievable, so tendered, so flavored. Even the white wine is great. Good atmosphere, too. One of the best experience in Amsterdam.

Rolled the dice and picked this place at random, and I was not disappoint. The service was very friendly and *fast*. The lamb tenderloin was tasty and tender. Most importantly for me, the atmosphere was very chilled as I sat in the corner on the top floor overlooking the rest of the restaurant.

Wile had had sate pork and spaghetti with shrimps. Food was perfect in taste and perfectly cooked. Seasonal beer from Belgium was also perfect and very friendly staff.

Amazing! Best meal my husband and I have ever had, and we go out for dinner...a lot! The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection, as were the scallops, pork, everything was delicious. Our compliments to the chef. Great service, cozy ambiance, we'll definitely be back.

Really exciting when I come here. Always eaten well, a guarantee even if with high prices for my standard I would choose it anyway!

Yelp
Perfectly nice, right on the tram so easy to find . Pleasant room, charming people, ok food. So you won't be disappointed and typical of this type of place, this time of year. Won't knock your socks off but won't disappoint you either. Has a nice neighborhood vib.

Yelp
We were hungry after a long delayed flight and this is the only restaurant in the area that has a kitchen that is open till midnight...not sure if we were just hungry but we definitely enjoyed the food! It's pricey (so as the rest of Amsterdam) but my burger was really good! I ordered for medium well, it came out medium, I was scared to eat it at first because it was a little bloody but I was wrong to order medium well. Medium was the right way to go!!! My husband's fried cod was good too but we needed to add some salt and pepper. Waitress was nice and friendly. I saw some of the bad reviews were from 2014...it's 2016, give it another try! No complaints here.

Yelp
So sub-par that it can't even see the par from the lowly depths of mediocrity where it stands. I had a feeling that a restaurant whose tagline is "eat till midnight" couldn't be that great but my party wanted to eat at the first place that could accommodate 5 people before a concert. That's where 2 stars come in: they made an effort to squeeze us in and the staff were friendly. We were done in time for the show but that might have been the trouble: my sate, easily outdone by some ready-made microwavable meal from the supermarket, wasn't cooked properly. And a member of my party missed the 1st half of the concert because he was throwing up in the bathroom. The cheapest main course was just under 18EUR. Not worth it.

Yelp
Local crowd, decent Dutch food. Has the salmon pretty good. The table bread was good and fresh. The steak was just ok. Can't wait to goto Paris to Le Relais de l'Entrecôte for steak. This place is worth a try.

Yelp
Decent "eetcafé" very close to the Concertgebouw. You can either eat before or after your concert, their kitchen closes at midnight. Prices are maybe a tad high but we're in Oud Zuid after all. Very friendly service.

Yelp
Staff was very friendly but the food was the worst meal I've had in a long time. The Prawns were so fishy I couldn't even force them down. For almost 30 euros for one entree dinner should at least be edible. Shame on me, should have left when I realized I was the only diner on a Friday night. Still feel ill.

Yelp
Wonderful neighborhood located near the Concert Geboue. Restaurant was very nice. Food was good but not amazing. Too much sauce on the filet mignon AND all over the fresh vegetables. Plus the sauce was bland and not flavorful. Following dinner the flan was exceptional. The service was quite good. Overall a B- at best.
