AMAZING!! I’m so happy I found this place, we ended up coming back twice! This little place is small on the inside, but they do have an upstairs as well. The windows are lined with fresh pastries and baked goods. Delish!! They have a tiny patio with 3 tables that is right over the canal! Luckily we got to sit there and people watch, while enjoying our breakfast. Coffees were amazing. Baked goods, so fresh and delicious. We ended up eating some sandwich’s as well, tuna melt was excellent. The have homemade jams which we took some home with us! Overall this place was a perfect breakfast/lunch spot

Randomly walked in for a coffee and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of baked goods, including vegan options! The place is small, but cozy and nicely decorated. I had an oat cappuccino and a vegan blueberry muffin, both delicious. Friendly staff and quick service. I’ll definitely be back to try more!

Google
Wow, one of the best breakfasts I think I ever had, great croissants, scones, all fresh made in front of your eyes. Super tasty. The staff is super attentive and friendly. The ambience ist special, you feel like in a cozy old house of your grandma’s as a child. With nice and playful decorations and a little climbing experience when you need the washroom. 😅 full recommendation! If it is full, grab at least a croissant or some delicious cake!

Google
Such a cute place to grab a pasty! The French toast (almost croissant) was fantastic. The baker there is also super friendly and spoke to the history of the business. Great to dine in or take out.

Google
Beautiful experience. Good food and drinks, but the bets is the small terrace. You should call for reservation. It can get a bit windy, but still worth it.

Google
The place is beautiful, very quaint, and transported me back in time. As for the food, I was honestly expecting more. The cheesecake was almost tasteless, and the cinnamon roll was very dry. I did order a goat cheese quiche, though, and it was delicious. It was odd because I thought sweet would be better than savory at this place. The staff was friendly and attentive.

Google
Such a beautiful place to eat a meal. It was the definition of whimsy and the food was not only beautiful but delicious as well. They had a great gluten free quiche and cake, and the rest of their pastries and options were truly gorgeous. Obsessed with this place, we will be back!!

Excellent small patisserie . Delicious Dutch Apple Pie - I strongly recommend. Small terrace on the canal is a cherry on the cake. Warm and cosy - don’t miss!

Yelp
We came for a quick snack. There was no line when we arrived. We had the apple pie, juice and Lemonade. The apple pie was so tall but the crust was a little dry for my liking. There was a lot of apples in it and good to try if youve never had Netherlands apple pies before. The juices were not too sweet but they were definitely on the smaller side. The prices were not bad and the service is pretty fast. There's a small outdoor deck and there was another floor outside. The toilet is upstairs on the top floor. Very steep to get up there and there's only one. Overall a cute place to hang out

Yelp
There is more seating upstairs, though the staircase is a bit steeply-wound and tucked away. I always feel awkward leaving a review on a single visit where I try a single thing, but we all had the scones and they were the absolute best. And everything else looked delicious, too, it's a gorgeous bakery. It's a long way from Boston but this is practically the first thing on my list the next time I'm back.

Yelp
Cutest location and interior, uses the smal space very well! You can't even tell there's an upstairs until they direct you up the tiny pink staircase into a cozy indoor seating area that reminds you of your favorite grandmothers dining room. Pastries are beautiful and delicious, sandwiches are filling and equally delicious, and the coffee is strong. The staff here were the fastest I've encountered in the Netherlands so far, and kind and friendly. The food is pretty well priced as well!

Yelp
Fun vibes, good music and delicious apple pie. Nice service and a warm atmosphere. There may be a wait to get a seat but it's worth it. We loved the apple pie and want to return to try other pastries.

Yelp
Cute bakery hidden in the streets of Amsterdam! I was in the city for work and saw the amazing reviews about this place so I had to check it out. It definitely didn't disappoint! Quaint bakery that is very cozy and has a tasty selection of pastries as well as some really delicious coffee..yes please! I ordered the mocha latte and a pain au chocolat and both were really good! The pastries were so good I had to get a couple to go! Definitely would recommend checking out this place out if you're in the area:)

Yelp
What a gem of a place! Very friendly and accommodating staff and delicious food. We had the apple pie and strawberry cheesecake and both were great! We got there and the restaurant had no seats so they set up a table next to their kitchen for us to have tea, going above and beyond. It is a special memory for us having apple pie and tea while watching the chef work. Great vibes all around with a cute shabby chic look. It's now one of our must visit places in Amsterdam. Shoutout to the team working on Sunday afternoon, you all are the best!!

Yelp
I was walking around Amsterdam and was came to this cute little place because of the smell. I wasn't in search of a treat but it smelt so good it felt wrong to pass up an opportunity to eat here. I walked in and asked the lady working at the counter what her favorite dessert was and she gave me three options and I told her to pick out of the 3. She ended up giving me a carrot cake and when I say this was perfect. Wow! It was moist, full of flavor, sweet but not too overpowering. Probably the best carrot cake I've ever had. I'm glad I stopped in a I hope to be back one day

Yelp
While we didn't grab anything from the bakery, the ambiance was very relaxing for a quick stop for morning coffee. The service was wonderful and the coffee was very good. We would recommend stopping by!

Yelp
Sweet place in one of the most tourist-dense regions of Amsterdam. Polite staff and decent coffee and quiches, a good pick if you find yourself hungry in this part of town.
google avatar

Jill L.

Yelp
My favorite little bakery in Amsterdam. It's small and cozy with picturesque seating. Service can be slow but that's only because they are making so much with such a small staff in tight quarters. My favorite was the goat cheese quiche and mango kiwi smoothie.
google avatar

Kevin E.

Yelp
Best goat cheese sandwich you will have in Amsterdam. I go regularly now and love it every single time

Yelp
This is a fabulous spot for cake and coffee ! But equally as fabulous for a breakfast platter of breads and cheeses, yogurt and fruit etc... and also equally as fabulous for a bite of homemade quiche for lunch. There were a couple of not so fabulous points too. One was that they open late for tourist standards. We ate breakfast there every day but one. We had a tour scheduled and at 8:23, they were still setting up. We thought maybe they opened at 8:30 but they didn't even acknowledge people standing at the door. One person even knocked and was ignored. They are very friendly when they are open , but I found this unnecessarily rude. They could have told people quickly what time they would be open since it wasn't posted on their door. By the way , it wasn't 8:30. It was 9:00. If you have a tour or some other reason to eat earlier , try Lexie down the street. This was one reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Another is the oddity of serving hot drinks in glasses. Hot hot tea in a glass makes it impossible to pick up. You either had to wait until it cooled or you had to pick up the glass with a napkin. All the hot drinks were served like this. Also , the place could use a little sprucing up- chairs were ripped, curtains frayed , bathroom had dead dried flowers and some unused and dusty lamps and other strange items. The seating downstairs is cramped and minimal , but up their very narrow staircase is a whole second floor with larger and more comfortable tables. They have lots of homemade things. The strawberry rhubarb crumble was outstanding ! It was hard to choose among all the goodies. I also recommend their scone with housemate lemon curd and the goat cheese quiche. There are so many things to like here , I would recommend it - but I do hope they will focus on the smaller things too - it makes a difference to the overall experience.

Yelp
We chanced upon this place on our first day exploring Amsterdam and their baked-goods window display drew us in instantly. The stacks of quiche in the window are too good to resist and thank goodness we didn't! We walked right in and requested 2 slices of quiche - goat cheese & leek and mushroom & comté - and they asked if we wanted them hot (we said yes). They requested us wait outside since it was a very tight spot. There's only a handful of tables and to retreat through the door with our packs was quite a feat - but we successfully joined the handful of folks waiting outside too. They brought our slices out after 5min - as promised - and even included wooden forks for us. The slices were delicious and we ate them as we walked, I WILL be returning for their beautiful cakes.

Yelp
Amazing and unexpected gem in the middle of heart of Amsterdam. I've been to this magical city many times to know by now how everything about it is unexpected. However, we were pacing the streets early in the morning on Sunday trying to find a decent place to have breakfast. Couldn't find much, and before we gave up hope, this wonderful coffee house popped up. Inside it looks unique and picturesque. But it's when you ask to be seated outside, that's where you get this amazing and almost intimate scenery of the canal. Everything we ordered, which I believe was apple pie and chocolate croissant was very tasty. The coffee was good. I definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Drool factor I walked past a few times during the day but when I stopped back for an evening treat they were closed. I arranged my last days so I could stop in to sample and grab some goodies for my family back home. I truly wanted one of everything in the window. After ordering my goodies the server said it looked like I needed something else. So I grabbed a slice of French toast for Now. They must soak the bread overnight as it was eggy throughout. The crispy outside lets you break it apart for dipping if that's your thing. I got the carrot cake and the layers were phenomenal. The bottom had raisins and the cream top is to die for.

Yelp
I couldn't resist stepping into this cute little bakery after walking by their mouthwatering window display. I'm a huge fan of lemon desserts, and the zucchini cake with lemon curd caught my eye. There was a line from the cash register to the door, but it moved pretty fast. There's really only enough seating for about a dozen people, so I'd say this is primarily a takeaway dessert place. Hopefully you don't plan on taking your sweets very far, because they don't really package their desserts to go. The girl behind the counter asked me if I planned to eat there or take it to go, and I went with the latter as there was no seating at that time. She proceeded to hand me the piece of cake on the same flimsy paper plate that the dine in customers had. The lemon curd was SO GOOD. I ended up buying a mason jar of it to take home for 5.50 euro. Sure beats trying to make it myself. The zucchini cake itself was not my cup of tea. I was expecting more of a zucchini bread / carrot cake baked good. Their take on it is more of a cake with chunks of zucchini in it. It was also a little on the dry side, though I did visit a little later in the afternoon. I would definitely come back to try some of the quiches that were in the window, or to pick up another jar or lemon curd :)

Yelp
Nice cosy place with a small balcony over the canal. We got a slice of quiche which was tasty! Very cute atmosphere.

Yelp
TL;DR - Possibly the best cakes in Amsterdam, but not enough seating! Craving something sweet we happened to walk past this place and had to stop to admire the huge range of incredible looking sweet treats on display. There's all sorts here - I'd probably recommend making your decision from the window before going in to order because I couldn't see a full list of everything inside. Staff were super friendly and helpful (I've seen a review saying otherwise, but cannot reconcile that with our own experience!). We went for apple cake and got absolutely huge slices of a dessert which was truly amazing (plus a little cream on the side and we also ordered a cup of tea). We ended up sat at the back of the shop where you're right next to the staff making things - the bread maker was going and you could see all the different dishes in the oven. Fantastic stuff. The only reason I've not given the place 5 stars is that there just isn't enough seating, and in an attempt to fit more in some of the tables are very small indeed. If the weather was nice you could get things to takeaway, but we visited on a very cold day in February. The shortage of seats tells you one thing though - the desserts are sooooo good! Oh, and there's no WC either.

Yelp
IN LOVE with the ambiance of this place! We were drawn in by the mouth-watering window display. They had such a variety of pastries and quiches. So many choices, even for vegetarians! What really caught my eye was the Mushrooms with Hazelnut Pesto, hook - line - and sinker. You order up front and take a seat and they deliver your order to you. The quiche was so BOMB, omgoodness! It filled me up too - once slice and done! It could get quite busy as it is centrally located and foot traffic is high. OMGoodness, the inside is literally, LIFE! They had cute tables set up against the wall as well as near the cashier. The walls were lined with old piano sheets - such a great rustic ambiance. Each table had cute tea cups that had sugar cubes in it (both white and brown sugar) When they gave us our quiches, they gave us these biodegradable forks and knives - I loved that! I asked for water and they had mint-infused water in a bottle. Towards the back of the shop - you can watch as the bakers make more baked goods, FRESH! All in all, if I ever go back to Amsterdam, I'd definitely visit again. A great gem we stumbled upon :)

Yelp
This is one of those places that is kind of hard to rate because there's so many selections you would need to come a couple of times to give it a true rating. There's a big selection of savory & sweet items. Obviously, some better than others. It's very charming inside, but cramped because it's so busy all the time , and FYI.. they do not have restrooms. We ordered the zucchini lemon curd cake, choco vanilla bread, Portobello Mushroom w/Bacon Pie, and Goat Cheese Quiche w/Leeks. The pastry items were not overly sweet, more like items you would find in an organic style coffeeshop where the pastries taste more like Whole food lightly sweetened pastries if that makes sense. The zucchini lemon curd cake had an amazing topping, but the zucchini cake part was just A ok. It wasn't as flavorful, kinda bland to be honest and not super moist. Even though I was getting a zucchini type cake I was still expecting it to be like a carrot cake type of thing. For example it's like bread w/jelly.. the jelly is sweet but the breads is not. They should really improve that because it would be the absolute bomb if so. It was good and enjoyed, but didn't have that Wow Factor because of this. Same w/the Choco Vanilla Bread. Very good but w/hints of chocolate. Dense Cacao flavored bread w/the chocolate frosting being more of where the sweet chocolate was coming from. Savory items like quiche were great. These items take about 10 min of reheating in the oven if you want them hot. We passed by this place 3 days in a row and they were so full we couldn't get in so they're obviously doing something right. It's an adorable place and I'd be interested to try more items. Everything was fresh. As a matter of fact, they're baking in there constantly because of the big crowds. I actually sat in the back right by the baking area and watched which I really liked. They also have a little outdoor patio area in the back overlooking the canal. It's very tiny though. Probably fits about 4 people. They also have sandwiches here with freshly made bread. I wanted to try the sweet bread pudding. It looked very interesting and caught everyone's attention in the streets. People would stop to take photos in the window display, including myself. There's just so many other items I wanted to try. The pumpkin pie, apple pie, brownies, French toast :-D I could go on. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to visit again. They're just too busy all the time. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in Amsterdam.
google avatar

Angelica C.

Yelp
My friend recommended this cute cafe to me. The outdoor seating area is small but it overlooks the canals. Great views. The pastries are excellent, especially the chocolate cake. I wish they'd open earlier than 8am though.
google avatar

Andrew V.

Yelp
We experienced appallingly rude service. We also questioned the freshness of their offerings as we saw many scones, pastries and cakes being taken out of the freezer or out of plastic packaging.
google avatar

Vincent T.

Yelp
The food and pastries in this place are fantastic. I have never seen such selection...such quality in baked goods. The scones there are to die for...so moist and tasty. I would recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
Dirty. Rude staff. Slow service. Cold food. The EU health department would shut this place down, and if you saw the way they make food here you would too. There seems no semblance of cleaning or food prep standards but for a bunch of catty girls serving long lines while wiping their noses with their hands while making food. And do not order anything you might want hot or heated, or in need of preparation. It's a pretty place but you will wait for 20 min or more for them to heat up a single piece of quiche. Then when you tell them it's still cold, they explain the oven isn't hot? So you send it back and it still, comes back cold. After 20-30 min you start to think this piece of quiche will cost you an afternoon in Amsterdam, and you just leave. When they ask why you are leaving and you tell them your food is still cold - the rude, rather aloof girl who obviously owns not 1% of the business, says.....'goodbye'. So you laugh, walk out with their cold, shit quiche uneaten and simply walk across the street to any one of the thousands of great bakeshops that litter Amsterdam. So....goodbye. Ek sal nie eet jou koud kos of jou kak nie.
google avatar

Lauren A.

Yelp
Fresh, delicious food and the service is very quick! Only issue is there aren't many seating spaces, but they bag things to go!

Sofia N.

Yelp
very quaint french-esque cafe with amazing food! got a pumpkin soup and the zucchini cake and they were both amazing. lovely staff as well. highly recommend
google avatar

Kelley B.

Yelp
So many fun pastries to choose from! I had the Mini Pastel de Nata (excellent) and the Raspberry and Almond Frangipane Tart (very good). My husband had the French toast which he said was good, but he liked the raspberry tart better. Would definitely come here again.
google avatar

AJ A.

Yelp
This place is super small and popular so seating is often scares! Why is this place great? A lot of people say that they have the best sandwiches in Amsterdam but you and I both know that Boer Geert has the best sandwiches and if you didn't know that, get with the program! Are the sandwiches good here? Definitely! They are delicious! I love their smoked mackerel with lemongrass mayo sandwich. It's also a bakery, so choose your own bread! What I particularly like about this place is that they have lots of stuff that's not very common in Holland and you also wouldn't be able to find them easily anywhere else, like polenta cake! They have sweet pies and cakes from chocolate mud pies to cheesecakes. They also have lots of savory pies and cakes such as quiches and polenta cakes! The interior is cute and tiny with little space to move.

Yelp
In a city where you can never be quite sure what you're getting when you order a brownie, this little bakery/ coffeeshop is a breath of fresh air. In contrast to the busy streets, the ambiance in DLK was calm and relaxing. Take your time ordering--there are sweets and quiches at the storefront window, sandwiches on the chalkboard menu, and croissants and scones by the artsy counter made of crates and decorated with tea cups and mason jars. I had the lemon poppyseed scone with lemon curd, and a coffee. You can choose from a sampling of jams laid out on the counter, which is then scooped onto a small paper cup. The scone was pretty good on its own, one of those misshapen ones that look really homemade. The scone was REALLY good with the lemon curd, the remainder of which I discretely scraped out my cup long after the scone was gone. I usually prefer proper mugs and plates over paper ones. But the paper plate, paper cup, and disposable knife at DLK worked for some reason. Almost as if it was showing that good, fresh food was the most natural thing in the world, not something that needs fancy fanfare. Seating is limited, with about two tables in the back, and three little shelves jutting from the wall to serve as tables. You can take out, but I'd suggest you sit down even for a few minutes for a relaxing break before you plunge back into the chaotic streets of Amsterdam.

Yelp
So many pastries, so little time. What a great find this place was! Walked past it on the way to the Mexican restaurant next door and was just drawn in by the food art in the window. So much so, that I went back to visit for breakfast the next morning. I call it food art because the food looks so delicious in the window you would swear you were looking at an art gallery. Pretty sure I found my new favorite hangout on the weekend. Many many more things to try out :)
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Hands down the best genuine bakery I had while here. The store itself is absolutely adorable. Cute seats and decor, as well as wonderful outdoor seating over the canal. Tons of quiche and bakery options. My favorite was the strawberry rhubarb and carrot cake.
google avatar

Madelon M.

Yelp
On the right side of the nicest jewelry shop in the heart of Amsterdam, Lyppens ( see our header 'lifestyle' ), you will find the delicious bakery, breakfast and lunch place . The counter is made of construction pallets and the stools of wooden crates. Everything is homemade and therefore fresh. The carrot cake and zucchini pie with lemon curd are a true treat. On sunny days they have the cutest terrace above the water. If you want to be sure of a place to sit for lunch, you better make sure to be there before 11.30 am! This place deserves a big A!
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
This is one of those small treasures that really seems to try to be a step above the competition. It's fun to sit and watch the baker. He doesn't skimp on the ingredients. It's a small place and generally fairly full when we've passed by but in typical Dutch fashion there always seems to be one or two centimeters to squeeze into if you are willing to try. The quiches make a great snack or meal and the carrot cake is my gf's favorite in town.

Chi G.

Yelp
Great little cafe to stop for a bite when exploring the area! They have a lovely display of cakes in the window, tempting you as you walk by. We got the goat cheese sandwich, which was absolutely delicious and the chocolate vanilla cake which was quite good as well. Service is reasonably fast and very friendly. The seating is a little cramped though. We got lucky and snagged a table but others after us had a bit of a wait. Other than that, absolutely worth a stop.
google avatar

Billy D.

Yelp
We found this tucked-away sandwich shop by accident while we were in desperation of food after the pannenkoeken guy ran out of batter. It's a pleasant little bakery-meet--sandwich shop apparently ran by a French chef. The inside cozy and simply decorated which results in a nice feel. It's very small - maybe 5 two person tables inside, but there's a hidden back patio in the back overlooking a smaller canal that can seat 6 more. Don't miss that if it's a nice day.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
A small nice and cosy cafe offers fresh homemade food. Location is right the center of Amsterdam, with the view of cannel. The decoration style is quite natural with wooden table and chairs. They have a supper Open kitchen, where you can actually see what and how are they making the food. The scones with cream and jam are very yummy, highly recommended! Perfect place for brunch or meet-up with friends for a cup of drink combines with some sweets.

Yelp
Such an amazing place!! So lovely and good pastry and bread and quiches!! For everyone who loves cute authentic bakeries - go there! They have a good variety of homemade quiches and cakes! I had the banana walnut cake, tomato and artichoce quiche and the apple pie!! Sooo good!

Laysa F.

Yelp
We came across this bakery by chance. As soon as you walk in you can smell deliciousness. This cute bakery has a homey feel. The food was amazing. Definitely will not disappoint.

Yelp
Absolute favorite place in Amsterdam!! Every time I come to this city, De Laastse Kruimel is #1 on my list. This local flavor is amazing!! The rhubarb pie is another memorable eat, but I'm not exaggerating: they make the BEST scones & BEST sandwiches I have EVER had! Be sure to ask for one of their many jams & clotted cream for your scone. It gets quite busy, & it's a little loud at times, but if you get the round table in the back corner, or find a spot outside on a sunny day, this place feels like a dream! They do all their baking in ONE oven! The staff is friendly & helpful. I know if I lived here, I'd rent a flat across the street & come here every day!
google avatar

Saurabh G.

Yelp
Amazing spot for a sweet laden brunch on the weekends! It gets really busy and if you find yourself a spot on their tiny balcony, consider yourself officially the luckiest person in Amsterdam, or at least one among them. They make fresh salads and quiches. Each week brings something different. A lot of vegan/vegetarian selections even. The trademark specialty is their banana breads, which is just so awesome. They also have loaves of chocolate breads, or a variety of different cakes and puddings, all made in store and with a loving touch. You can even see them meticulously slice the cakes and breads. The vegetarian bread pudding is a delight. Try it at least once. It comes in a couple flavors. Service is amazingly wonderful even if the crowds make their jobs so difficult. The ladies are always there to welcome you with a smile.
google avatar

paul j.

Yelp
Walking aimlessly around Amsterdam the current of the crowd eased me up to a plate glass window of happy happy and at least a couple of joys. I have undervalued french desserts in the past. Historically speaking there are those more wrong on more important subjects, however, I stand among their number ashamed and properly penitent. The carrot cake was truly amazing and the apple pie I carried for kilometers to find the proper scenery to share it with. I was fortunate to come late and was able towatch the ladies prepare the cakes, pies, scones and other wonders I only know are french in origin. If I'd known what they were I would've foregone the excellent sandwich and instead fed exclusively on the culinary wonders the ladies of De Laatste Kruimel produce fresh each evening and morning. Truly the home of the Sugar Fairy.

Artak H.

Yelp
You can't go wrong for the breakfast! Everything fresh and tasty, authentic. I keep coming to this place each time in Amsterdam. I can't even name my favorite, just pick up whatever you feel to and it will be good!
google avatar

Thomas K.

Yelp
An absolutely fantastic place to stop for coffee, pastries, and/or delicious quiche. Are used to live in France, and this is about as authentic and experience as one can get in Amsterdam. The service and the food or a impeccable, consistent quality, and I stopped in twice a day each day I was in town :-)

Yelp
Great pastries - both sweet and savory. Coffee as well and super cosy hang out spot with soft cushions and low ceilings

Yelp
Wonderful place. Eat fresh made pastries while watching them mix / bake more! Chocolate croissant fabulous.

Yelp
Reading all the reviews - I wish I could say I had a similar experience but, meh! I really have experienced so much better. The decor and setup of this place is so very cute. What lured my partner and I inside (besides hunger!) was the lovely window displays of homemade quiche, ricotta pies, and delightful looking baked goods. Coffee: Horrible. I tend to drink my coffee black, unless milk is needed to mask the taste and this was just super disappointing. It seems they got our order wrong at first, as after sitting down my partner had to get up to go back to the counter and see if the coffees had been made (I think they may have delivered them to another table accidentally). From our table I saw a cup of coffee being poured out in the back, and once I received mine I could see why - it was completely burned. Food: Meh, I went with the ricotta and polenta and my partner had a deli sandwich (turkey and cucumber). I think the service may have been a bit overwelmed that morning. From where we were sitting in the back, we were in a small table in the far corner right next to the ovens. I saw my order go into the over to warm, alongside some pies - the pies were taken out about 10 minutes later and wondering if the ricotta had been forgotten, I caught the servers attention walking past who pulled it out. By this time it was dry and unevenly heated through. It pains me to write this review because everyone in the cafe was quite nice and the setup if really quite lovely, but at the end of the day the food was disappointing, service slow and a bit jumbled, and almost too much foot traffic going into and out of the narrow cafe with people looking to peer out the back porch and see if there is any seating on the canal.

Yelp
This place is sooo cute! I absolutely love it. The prices are fine and the food is amazing. I love the pies. The savouries as well. Just love everything about it. Absolute must go when in Amsterdam. They always have a huge selection that changes by the day. Not very much seat but with nice weather you can always take away and eat/drink your stuff alongside the lovely canals.

Yelp
I'm so glad I stumbled upon this place after attempting to eat at Gartine, which is currently closed until August 2013! The first best part: all the quiches, pastries, cakes, scones, and other creations that are on display in the window. They look (and are) freshly homemade, look delicious, and are good-sized portions. The second best part: the interior. It's a pretty cozy cafe with an open mini-kitchen where you can see all the pastries being prepared. It's also very light because of the windows in the front and the door to the patio in the back. The third best part: the outdoor patio facing a canal. It only has 3-4 tiny seats with tables made of paintings, but it's enough since you're only eating pastries and sandwiches while drinking tea or lattes. The fourth best part: fresh squeezed juice - and many of them! I had the papaya, kiwi, strawberry, orange juice one. Mmm. They also had really good tea and coffee drinks. The fifth best part: homemade jam and lemon curd. My friend bought a jar because it was so good - I wish I had done the same! They had some interesting flavors - tomato rosemary and pineapple basil, but I'm sure they're as good as the strawberry or lemon. It's also part of a BnB, which I would probably like as much as the cafe. Will definitely be back next time I visit Amsterdam!

Yelp
I am a total sucker for places like De Laatste Kruimel. Cute, kitschy, tiny, homemade, delicious, I just love it. And in classic Yelping fashion, I spent a few days trying to find this place after a friend and I walked past it in heavy fog around 3 AM and he said it was the best place in town. After several failed attempts I found it and bought myself a reward (and lunch). First off, this place makes their own lemon curd. This is automatically puts them in the six star category if such a thing were possible. Smeared on a lemon poppyseed scone and consumed in a sunny patio overlooking the canal and hustle and bustle on Rokin -- this is why I love living in Amsterdam. Just thinking about that moment makes me swoon. I also picked up a small sandwich for the road, which was still warm and toasty even after I had the chance to eat it over an hour later. The goat's cheese was slightly melted and paired with an olive-apple tapenade that blew my mind. It was an amazing and pleasant surprise to enjoy my sandwich that much. Next time I swing by, I am definitely picking up a slice of the courgette taart with lemon curd on top. Swoon.
