We went through an online reservation service to book the 4 star hotel show in these pictures. That hotel is and has been closed for a long time. The 2 star lodging we were given is next door. The only amenities they have is the pool shown in the photos from years back. It is old now. The original hallway to the hotel, when it was one complex has been demolished and a large tarp hung there with a big piece of furniture in front to cover the area. The ground/dirt outside where the hallway was is easily visible The room was more than adequate, with a large bathroom and a comfortable bed. The TV did not work, for 2 guests we were provided with only 1 pod of regular coffee each day to share. Next door is the hotel you see in these lovely photos. The reviews here are from when it was open. I did not comment to the owner of this hotel. I am of the belief they are fully aware of this bait and switch being perpetrated on customers. Upon arrival we were so disoriented by the stark difference of what we rented and where we were dropped off that it took quite a while to understand that in fact the online reservation service we used, Google maps and another online reservation service all were not updated to the correct information. If you book the listing it will reserve the room in the building next door. Your confirmation states you are renting a room in someone’s home. We never saw any other guests leading me to wonder if there is only the one room being rented under the original hotel’s credentials.

Walking up an alley to this secret gem, you would never guess how wonderful and beautiful the grounds are. The rooms are well thought, bed so comfortable, classy unique art on the walls, fantastic rain drop shower and separate bathtub, the room is spacious and quiet. Not to mention the murals near the sparkling pool, and ultra kind staff.. you won’t be disappointed! The hotel is located in a super fun area of Chiang Mai too.. tons of bars-restaurants and shopping.

We stayed at the De Naga for two weeks, while visiting Chiang Mai, Jan. 2021. Perfect time of year to visit. Warm and beautiful! The hotel is an older hotel, but well kept. The service was above and beyond what you would expect, with friendly, fast and caring service. Always greeted with a smile. This would be a 5 star rating, except we had daily trouble with the air conditioning, to the point that we finally had to move rooms when it was no longer fixable. BUT - Management was gracious, helped us move and generous in taking care of us. The daily breakfast and coffee was always very good. Location is outstanding, within walking distance of great food, shopping and the night market. We loved everyone we meant at the De Naga. Beds are comfortable, bathroom is decent and service was GREAT! Important to note - if you are picking this hotel because it has a swimming pool... you might want to reconsider. The swimming pool is very cold. Nice to relax after a long hot day site seeing, but you won't be taking a dip - at least not in January!

We didn't know what to expect since this was our first visit to Chiang Mai and this was such an excellent surprise. This is in an excellent location in the old city only a block from the Sunday street market and lots of good, inexpensive restaurants nearby including the one at the hotel which serves a fantastic breakfast (included) Fresh croissants, eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit and Thai dishes. The staff was great and very helpful with all of our needs. The room was comfortable with a very good bed, They have a very relaxing pool with a bar and the free 10 minute massage is a welcome surprise.

The boutique hotel was quaint and clean. Its location was convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was small and quite hot during the day. It has a small restaurant that gives a good buffet breakfast. Its massage spa was good. I give it a 3 star , it's actually a 3.7 but not quite a 4.

This hotel was good for what we paid and we are pleased we chose it. The location is ideal, the service is good and breakfast is good.||It is shabby around the edges - rooms are clean but need some TLC. Pool area is very much in need of some work, and is tiny and mostly in the shade but is fine for cooling off briefly. It is also only cleaned once a day first thing in the morning, so you need to be happy with a few dead cockroaches if you want a dip in the afternoon. There is also an overhanging roof above the sun loungers (all of them) so beware falling bird food (and dead birds).||I gave this a 4 because it is cheap and you get what you pay for, but we wouldn't stay again.

Very friendly staff, clean and comfortable. The pool is not really for swimming, but a good place to cool off and relax. The breakfast is quite good, the the yogurt is nice as is the freshly baked pastries. They also have a nice gym with modern equipment. I didn't see it mentioned at all on the website.

We stayed 5 nights at the De Naga Hotel. We did opt for the fancier room - but still reasonably priced and felt like a palace! Somehow this is a quiet oasis tucked in a short private street edged with bamboo trees, yet located the super crowded busy old city portion of Chiang Mai. Breakfast buffet was great each morning, the swimming pool is small but lovely with jets for massage and bubbles as well as sunbeds and chairs and a poolside bar. The decor is gorgeous - the Naga rules supreme, twisting around pillars, spewing fountains, and even as door handles. The service was excellent from check-in to check out, and the location can't be beat - easy walk to the Sunday Walking Market, the fabulous shopping area, shining historic wats, and the Arts and Culture Museum. We can't wait to go back.
