Valldemossa Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"Housed at the hotel, the destination restaurant De Tokio a Lima presents a bold Japanese–Peruvian concept that leans heavily on Mediterranean produce; sharing plates are generous, and you can choose between a distant sea or a close-up town view while you dine. Cocktails are a highlight at sunset—expect Pisco-based drinks crafted by mixologists from Palma—and the overall approach to food and drink (from large sharing plates to inventive cocktails) fits the hotel’s creative, local-meets-global personality."

We came to De Tokio a Lima in Valldemossa with high expectations and drove 45 minutes each way, but unfortunately, we left disappointed. The food was overall okay, nothing special but decent. However, the service was really bad. The nicest person we encountered in the entire restaurant was actually the cleaning lady, who kindly welcomed me to the bathroom with the warmest smile of all - which says a lot about the rest of the experience. The woman dressed in black with “Arlequin” written on her outfit was especially unwelcoming. She made us feel like we were just some random people, not valued guests. She didn’t seem happy to be there, wasn’t helpful at all, and frankly shouldn’t be working in a place like this if hospitality is not her thing. The lady who took our order was slightly better, but still nowhere near as friendly or attentive as we saw her being with other tables. The two male waiters who came later were polite, respectful, and nice - a big contrast to the overall cold and dismissive attitude of the women handling service. We were also constantly attacked by bees, but of course, that’s no one’s fault and can’t be avoided in such a location. What was avoidable, though, was the very long wait for everything - from ordering to receiving drinks and dishes. Overall, the view and setting are beautiful, but the service made the whole experience unpleasant. Definitely not worth the 45-minute drive.

We had an incredible dinner at Tokio a Lima – a true gem nestled in the hills above Valldemossa. The fusion cuisine is on another level, with bold and unexpected flavor combinations that work perfectly. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with taste. The service was just as exceptional. Our hostess made us feel so welcome, and our waiter, Alex, was genuinely attentive and knowledgeable – striking the perfect balance between relaxed and professional. The view overlooking the village of Valldemossa as the sun sets is absolutely breathtaking. It's hard to imagine a better setting for such a memorable meal. Highly recommended – this place is worth going out of your way for.

We had high expectations coming here, especially after driving across the island to enjoy the scenery. Unfortunately, even though we arrived on time for our reservation, we were seated inside while the outdoor tables were given on a first-come, first-served basis. This was quite disappointing in the middle of August, since the main reason we chose this restaurant was for the view. The food was good, but the seating policy really took away from the overall experience.

We had dinner at De tokio a Lima Valldemossa yesterday and it was the most magical and delicious experience. The menu was explained to us as built for sharing the plates. We had 4 plates plus dessert and could not recommend enough. The staff were super attentive, professional and the service was fantastic. The view in itself seems taken out of a Disney movie. I would really recommend adding this to your list. Also book in advance as it gets really full quickly.

Amazing food - every single dish was absolutely delicious and full of flavour, we really enjoyed the play on Peruvian and Japanese cuisine and thought all the dishes were clever and interesting. The service was impeccable- the waiters were so attentive without being annoying and it truly felt like a luxurious experience eating here. We did not stay at the hotel so being able to have the view whilst having dinner and walk the beautiful grounds made the experience even better. The parking is also free if you are dining! It was honestly an amazing experience that I would highly recommend- probably the best restaurant we went to in Mallorca during our week long trip there. Will be returning for sure when we come back to Valldemossa.

Had a wonderful experience dining at the restaurant. Was a great start to our first night in Valldemossa. Had a 7:30pm booking which was great to experience the view with the light then as the sun set. All the staff (including our waiter Alex) were great, extremely friendly and attentive. The quality and flavours of the food were exceptional.

Had my birthday dinner at their restaurant, got an outside table and the sunset view was stunning .. the surroundings of the hotel and restaurant are stunning and full of culture .. Alex was our waiter , he gave us amazing service, very friendly and put a candle on the birthday cake my friends ordered and gave me a birthday card. Alex and my friends sang happy birthday for me. Very lovely restaurant, I would recommend it for a birthday celebration, anniversary or just a stunning night out. We all enjoyed our meals which speaks to the food as well.

This review is for De Tokio a Lima restaurant. First of all, the setting is stunning, and we couldn't complain about the restaurant being a 5 minute walk from our hotel. We were seated outside just as the sun set, so the view was extra gorgeous. The service was super friendly, professional and accommodating. The meal was good but not quite worth the price. We live in Los Angeles, one of the greatest, most diverse food cities in the world, with plenty of Asian and Latin American influences everywhere. So that's the standard we're coming in with. We started with a hamachi crudo which was good, but needed more acid and a little more salt. I liked the mango and amaranth popcorn, and the quality of the fish itself was good. We also got the Japanese curry with vegetables and wild rice. The veggies and wild rice were delicious (it's actually hard to find veg-forward dishes in Mallorca) and the curry was okay but needed way more oomph. We got the beef tataki with broccoli puree and this was the standout dish. Loved it. For dessert, we got the basque cheesecake with lilikoi crema and little meringue bits for crunch -- super tasty. We each got two drinks. The first two cocktails were from the signature menu, the Negroni and a Tequila drink (spicy breeze I think?) and neither was balanced nor executed well. The next two drinks were a gin martini and gin and tonic. Overall, the food was good but we spent more than $250 USD (paid in Euros) and I cannot justify the price for what we got.
