Best cafes to spot exquisite Amsterdam typography - SilverKris

"Home to some of the best-preserved Amsterdamse krulletters, these curling letters cleverly incorporate the two swans that reference the bar’s name, an example cited by experts for its quality and historical integrity." - Mark Smith

Cozy traditional pub with a great local vibe. The locals parties hard to Dutch pop classics like there's no tomorrow. A bit tight on space, but super friendly atmosphere. Tasty beer, fair prices - and the brunette bartender lady is absolutely stunning. Recommended

This quickly became a favourite café of mine in Amsterdam. The staff here were friendly, and sung along to the retro Dutch pop music being played - this gave the place a unique and warm atmosphere. The walls are adorned with music art and memorabilia, and the beer is very good. I spent a great afternoon here with friends, beating the heat - I can't wait to return some day.

Beware! We ordered a small tea and asked for 3 glasses of water, thinking we would get tap water like in every other establishment. We were shocked to be charged 14EUR for this. Wouldn’t recommend visiting as their goal is clearly to use and trick customers

30€ for 2 pints and 2 cokes. Even for AMS that is expensive. Menue without prices should have been a warning for me…

A great little coffee shop located between the tulip and cheese museum. Service is fast, lovely to sit outside and look over the canal. Food is defo worth it, we had Croque Monsieur and Croque Special, both freshly made and super tasty. Coffee was nice flavour, beers and wines also available.

Food, service and ambience were incredibly nostalgic. Authentic Dutch/French cuisine perfect for anybody wanting to introduce their loved ones to Dutch food. A wholesome experience I would highly recommend.

Google
The drinks were disappointing. They were served in glasses that weren't chilled. The menu doesn't list any prices, so I had to inquire about each item I was interested in. The service lacked attentiveness to the customer, and there wasn't even a friendly smile.

We just hit on this place by accident. Visiting Amsterdam on a Sunday afternoon with friends, we were looking for a place to get out of the rain. We stumbled into the Twee Zwaantjes and what a wonderful surprise! Live music, great drinks and excellent service. The staff made us feel very welcome, even though we were from out of town (something you don’t always experience in cafes or restaurants these days..). Yes, we even joined in the singalongs 😁😁😁! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Great beer! Fun location by a canal after dinner while we awaited a boat tour. Friendly staff and fast service.

Yelp
Pull up a bar stool, order a drink, enjoy the music, and get ready to open up to real Amsterdam. This Jordaan gem is worth hanging out and staying a while. Joos is delightful and you'll be amazed how much more intimate your Amsterdam experience feels after an evening here. We will be back with every visit to the city.

Yelp
While the service wasn't great here- bartender was hanging out talking to her friends- once we ordered drinks, all was good. Service isn't amazing because European service industry isn't slaving away for tips like they are in the U.S. Good for the EU. The inside almost seemed on a smaller scale than usual, but it has a nice feel to it. Dripping candles, old library feel. Heineken tasted good- so the earth's rotation came to a halt- I made my friend drink one here to convince her of this. Would come here again esp if it was a season to sit outside.

Yelp
Want local flavor? Go to this authentic Amsterdam cafe. This is where true Amsterdammers sing along with their favorite, mostly Dutch, songs. Of course they serve Dutch snacks such as bitterballen and kroketten which are excellent with a cold beer. The place is small so don't bring too big of a crowd.

Yelp
Great little tavern! Stopped in for beers and were greeted by great music, singing and fun! Only had a couple, but would definitely come back!

Yelp
This is a great bar on the canals. The bitterballen is excellent there and they have a good beer selection.

Yelp
A bit of a dump. That's to be expected in Amsterdam. In fact, it's why you're here. The canal side seating is great on a nice day. But the service is spotty. And inside it is cramped and oppressive. I love a small dive bar but this just didn't have the personality. Nothing wrong with it, just not a whole lot right. perfectly fine to stop and have a beer. If you're a wine drinker, forget it (basically, forget Amsterdam). Not off-putting but also not welcoming. Just kind of...there.
