Truly a delight of the senses! An amazingly creative menu, combining unexpected flavours with excellent results. An exquisite experience altogether, pleasantly enhanced by a very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable service!

I can see that the chef put a lot of thoughts into each dish and we especially like the tomato salad and the dessert. But it’s quite expensive I have to say.

Absolutely loved our dining experience at this vegan gem in The Pijp. The quality of the food was exceptional, with every dish bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors. The menu was incredibly inventive, introducing us to new, exciting combinations. A special shoutout to the staff and the Italian guy who served us - his service was impeccable. They were not only friendly and attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They made our dining experience very enjoyable. If you're looking for a top-notch vegan restaurant in Amsterdam, this place is a must-visit!

Google
Absolutely delicious vegetarian restaurant! The flavors were incredible, with beautifully presented dishes and perfectly portioned servings. I’m not usually vegetarian, but I didn’t miss meat at all—the food was that good! Friendly service and a great wine selection, made it even better.

Google
It’s a cute place and the staff is friendly but I did not enjoy the food at all. Being vegetarian and avoiding animal products where I can, I have been to several vegan/ vegetarian restaurants in the city and there are really good ones. This, unfortunately is not one of them. The starter was undercooked Brokkoli with store bought wasabi seaweed crackers. As a main we had artichokes with paprika sauce which I did not really want to finish. The dessert was a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel, but not great. I have heard good things about this place so I hope this was just a bad day but it was definitely not worth 50€ pp for the tasting menu of 3 courses. The location and atmosphere were nice.

Google
I had higher expectations as the general vegan/vegetarian only restaurants in Amsterdam always have their signature dishes and very much focused on creative fusion taste with interesting sauces. I also expected non-winter seasonal ingredients. I’ll definitely try again in the summer season. General taste was plain, staff was friendly and atmosphere was nice. Great selection of drinks and wines.

Google
My favourite restaurant in Amsterdam. Every time I have guests from abroad, I make sure they experience this gorgeous table d’hôte of exquisite vegan and vegetarian gastronomy. The dishes are well balanced and creative, combining different flavours and textures, with emulsions, gaufrettes, mousses… Eating sustainability has never tasted so yum! I recommend the wine pairing; I have been pleased with many lovely natural wines. The prices are sooo reasonable for what you get. Super worth it! My only critique is that the dishes could have been described with more pride and passion by our server. She spoke a bit fast and I could not fully retain everything. She also said it was decorated with kale when it was actually capers. In short, the food is 👌🏻and the servers must make sure they prepare us well for it!

Google
One of the best restaurants in Amsterdam! This food is culinary and art masterpiece! They have 3-4 courses options. Everything is veryyy delicious. I also liked people who work here, they are friendly. It could be busy so it’s better to book a table on their website.

Yelp
Everything was fabulous. Decadent, unique and delightful. We had the surprise me and each plate was well presented and enjoyed.

Yelp
I like this place. It's dependable for good food. The menu changes seasonally and my food has always been fresh and tasty. When I feel like I need a good healthy vegeterian special meal this is one of my "go to" places. The appetizers are good as well as the deserts. There are beers and wine available. I love taking my vegetarian friends here.

Yelp
High end (small servings with painstaking flourishes taken) but one dish's flavors tasted about as complementary to me as orange juice and chocolate milk. Really, the fregola with spring onions, romesco sauce, beech mushrooms, and olives just really did not work for me at all. The tomato soup (shorba) I had as a starter was delicious, and the dessert (baked apple) was decent, but the main course was bad. Fairly good service, lots of vegan options, but a tad pricey.

Yelp
We're moving in. 2nd visit in 3 days and just added 2 more reservations. Everything on the menu defies belief. It's magic!

Yelp
This restaurant served some of the most delicious vegetarian food that I've ever eaten. I would seriously come back to Amsterdam just for this food. It's very, very special. I've been a vegetarian for 20 years and prior to this Gordon Ramsey and Ottolinghi served my favorite vegetarian meals! You will not regret coming here, sitting outside along the tree lined street, with the healthy and attractive bicycle commuters. Service and staff were excellent as well!

Yelp
One of the nicest spots in Amsterdam for vegetarian cuisine! Quality food, good wine selection, and a seasonal menu that changes regularly. I've been their twice now and have enjoyed both visits, but found the dish I had last time to be much better than my recent visit. I had a mushroom risotto with tempura vegetables. It was divine. I was less impressed with my recent visit (had the Egyptian specialty) but after eyeing the other dishes, I may have just selected the wrong one for me. Everything looked and smelled delicious! Their desserts are well presented and definitely worth the extra calories. The wine is lovely and I like that they also offer it by the carafe and not just by the glass or bottle. It's also a pet friendly place if you'd like to bring your dog--they have an adorable black and white cat roaming around who doesn't seem to mind canine visitors.

Yelp
We've dined at many vegetarian restaurants, mainly in San Francisco and New York City. De Waaghals is one of the best! Very creative and delicious dishes with attentive and friendly service. We could not imagine a better place to dine while in Amsterdam.

Yelp
Great vegetarian restaurant on sweet little Frans Halsstraat. Interesting, flavorful food, definitely *well* above average for vegetarian food in Amsterdam (okay, any food, really). I've taken meat eaters and one vegan here, and everyone's been happy. (I think they had to modify a dish to make it vegan, but they were nice about it.) The only thing anyone's ever complained of is that the portions can be a bit small, I think especially for the cheaper options that look from the menu like they might be full meals (with accompaniments). But I think the more expensive full meals really are substantial. Only a few items on the menu, but the menu changes twice a month, and, let's be honest, when everything's good, you don't need a lot of choices. Pretty small space, so consider making a reservation.

Yelp
My husband and I chose De Waaghdals for the last dinner of our Europe trip. Thanks to them, we finished our trip with the wonderful dinner. My husband is vegetarian and we are grateful because there were just few vegetarian restaurants in Amsterdam. We enjoyed entrees and deserts. I just wished the house glass wine could be more sophisticated, otherwise I hope there would be other choices for glass wine. I personally prefer Pinot Noir, and my husband would prefer Merlot.

Yelp
Agree with the other reviews - quality food for a reasonable price. Location is perfect on tree-lined Frans Halsstraat just behind Ferdinand Bol. Frans Halsstraat is home to a bunch of quaint, neighborhood restaurants and is perfect on a warm evening for a stroll or drink on one of the many terraces. The interior is modest and the staff are low-key and friendly. It's a relaxed, informal setting that suits a vegetarian restaurant. I like the seasonal menu and they use fresh ingredients (the menu says they try to use mostly organic food).

Yelp
Now, other than Oud Zuid, this is my favorite dinner restaurant in Amsterdam - it's in trendy De Pijp, but off the beaten path. I love that the restaurant was one of the first vegetarian restaurants and has been since 1980's ! According to our very tall (OK, right, Dutch) waiter it has evolved over time to become a 'creative high end' restaurant from a 'volunteer-run' endeavor. I love that history. The food was amazing - Katie had lentil something and I had leek something. The interior is serene and beautiful (and innovative) and the service was outstanding. -one of the best vegetarian restaurants I've been in - bar none. Menu changes - based on what's available at the local produce market (a few blocks away). Trust the chef. Also loved the odd beer selections - I had a dark wheat beer. (Not draft). Go! Go! See you there!

Yelp
This was one of the best vegetarian restaurants I've ever eaten at. It's rare to eat at a veg restaurant that not only tastes great, but also really cares about the presentation of the food and plating it beautifully. Both of our dishes were delicious, as well as the dessert (custard), which was so delicate, flavorful, and interesting. The menu changes every two weeks, rotating depending on available produce and season. I highly recommend this place -- it was wonderful.

Yelp
This entirely vegetarian restaurant had some great looking options on the menu, which sadly I couldn't try. The vegan options were very limited; there were only two vegan main dishes. The overall quality of the food was nothing special; some dishes a little bit like dutch fast food even. The carrot pudding for dessert was very disappointing.

Yelp
One of the best finds in Amsterdam for the veg/vegan amongst us! Service was great. Staff extremely friendly. Sexy crowd too! Definitely take the time to get here when visiting Amsterdam!!!

Yelp
We sought this place out while in Amsterdam as it was one of the few restaurants that offered vegetarian and vegan options. We skipped out on going to the "Vegan Junk Food" joint for the purpose of getting better, high quality food. Little did we know that although this place looks like and has prices that are of the upper scale, their food is certainly on the lower end. My wife ordered the polenta dish and I ordered the risotto, both of which had little flavor and had nothing shy of a TV dinner platting. Vegan and vegetarians may still choose to come here because there aren't a plethora of other choices and for that reason it still has some value.

Yelp
We ate dinner here twice this trip. For vegetarians, this is a must. We had the monthly Italian special one night and the De Waaghals special the other night. Both were really nice with several items on each plate. The appetizers were great both times, too. We've eaten here many times in our seven visits to Amsterdam and wouldn't think of missing it.

Yelp
We are "part-time" vegan/vegetarians and seek places out like this when traveling. The food was amazing, service a little quirky. I like the variety each dish brings brings. The photos posted are very representative of the food. I recommend giving this place a whirl.

Yelp
meh. Dont get me wrong, the food was good. But 70 euros for three people with no alcohol was a bit ludicrous. I expect to eat amazing food for

Yelp
Wonderful place. Food is creative and the menu changes regularly. The best vegetarian food in the city!

Yelp
Went here during our stay in Amsterdam. The menu had a great selection and it seemed to be seasonal/rotating. Though the food was great, the only negative for us was the awkward and slow service. Other than that, we would definitely go back here when we next visit!

Yelp
The place got a real house feeling to it. exept that I don't let my kat run in the kitchen. Not to much on menu

Yelp
a nice vegetarian restaurant without pretensions. the products are all organic. the menu is limited, but good, so that choosing is not difficult. our chosen meals looked attractive en were tasty. the priced are agreeable, and the service was relaxed. very recommendable. een leuk vegetarisch restaurant zonder pretensies. de gebruikte producten zijn biologisch. de keuze op het menu is beperkt, maar goed ,zodat het kiezen niet moeilijk is. de gerechten die we hadden uitgekozen zagen er aantrekkelijk uit en waren smakelijk. de prijzen zijn aangenaam. de bediening was ontspannen. een aanrader.

Yelp
Delicious vegetarian and vegan food! Definitely worth a visit. Great service and great desserts.

Yelp
Meh. The vegetarian selection here wasn't as great and extensive as I had hoped, but the salads were great and the staff was very nice. This restaurant is quite relaxed.. and hidden away from the touristy hubbub.
