23 Places to Visit in the Netherlands Beyond Amsterdam | Condé Nast Traveler

"On the park’s eastern edge near Otterlo, wood-heady rooms and cottages pair with forest views, plus a convivial bistro and terrace that make lingering as tempting as exploring the surrounding trails." - Chris Schalkx

We really much enjoyed our stay. Cabin was nicely located in the woods, breakfast was wonderful and the food was good. The only thing we found strange is that we had booked a half board plan in advance for two nights and we got pretty much the same meals on our second night. That’s something a hotel-restaurant could have taken into account better.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The location, food and setting is absolutely beautiful and delicious, lovely atmosphere when you walk in. The reason it’s a 4 star and not a 5 star - we slept in the Cabin which is in the woods. The hot water for the shower ran out very quickly, I shared with the staff after the first time - and still had another cold shower the next morning. The second comment I have is that it’s very dark at night to walk to and from the cabin as it’s in the woods, when my husband went to ask for lantern, they had to check if they could give one for the night.. think it’s the kind of things that should be part of the stay.

Fab location and a great welcome! Food not the usual run of the mill and wonderful to eat. Service could have been quicker..55 minutes to plate a cold starter ?

🙂 It's a very unique place that feels very special and boutique. The food is really amazing as well as the service: we ate breakfast (included), lunch (soup and salad) and dinner (fish, potatoes and salad), also drinks were amazing (great creative selection of non alcoholic cocktails + kambucha). The staff was very friendly and found us a table in the restaurant for lunch and dinner with almost no waiting time. The location is unique to say at least - you have a great 5km hiking trail across the road and 13 min walking to the entrance to the park with bikes. The place is surrounded by nature - you can hear birds and horses. Everything was clean and cozy. The fire places in the common areas and in the restaurant in addition to the bonfires outside create unique atmosphere. The design, details, nature - everything is there to enjoy and disconnect. 🙁 We stayed in the room 2 and it's very much exposed to everything that is going on in the restaurant area. It's not a problem from 11 pm to 8 am so we slept well, but during the day you will not be able to sleep/rest if you are even a bit sensitive to noise/music. We will definitely come back but to another room (2nd floor or cabin most probably). As in other reviews - tea was missing in the room or common areas. It would be great to have it available at all times. The restaurant and veranda are dog friendly but the rooms aren't for my family it means that it will be much more difficult to come back as we can’t come with our furry friend.

Wonderful location and best of all, the staff! The service has been beyond amazing during our stay. Both breakfast and dinner at the Bistro were really good.

I stayed here for one night and had a wonderful experience. The location is perfect, especially if you enjoy hiking in nature. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff was incredibly sweet. Dinner was equally fantastic, and we ended the evening relaxing by the outdoor fireplace. The room was cozy, and I slept like a baby. Highly recommend for a peaceful nature getaway with great food and service.

We have been hosted for one night at the De Wever Lodge. We appreciated very much the kindness of the people, the quality of the dinner and breakfast, and the excellent location close to marvelous nature. We recommend very highly.
