We were looking for a joint in the city that offered cask ales, and Death & Taxes supposedly had some on offer, so we showed up on a recent Saturday ready and willing to drink.
They didn't have any cask ales on hand that day, but we figured we were there anyway, we might as well grab some food.
We wound up sharing a couple of their brunch entrees. Their brunch menu is infuriatingly not online but we shared the breakfast burrito and the D&T BLT.
The food arrived pretty quickly and I decided to start with the BLT. It's really, really good. It's far more flavorful than I was expecting, with this due mostly to the inclusion of a curry mayo, and the other components fared just as well. The whole thing was crisped up on the grill, and I honestly wished I had ordered a whole sandwich for myself.
The burrito was good but a far cry from that 'wich. It also had some unexpected flavors and the various components worked well, but overall I just wasn't as blown away by it. The included home fries had been cooked in some kind of a sauce or something, and like everything else, I enjoyed the heck out of them.
The joint even had some drinks specials I was able to take advantage of. It's just too bad about that cask ale.
