Yelp
3.5 actually, but rounded off out of kindness and their good service. Came at 9pm and all ribs and burnt ends were sold out. So I got the $60 platter with brisket, pulled pork and links, with sides of mac and cheese, cornbread and brisket beans.
Not the best Texan bbq I've had, but in Singapore, this might be the best there is, and I suppose that needs to suffice.
The beans were a bit too sweet and not mellow savory enough for my taste, but the chunk of brisket inside made for a pleasant surprise.
The mac and cheese was pretty good. Enjoyed it thoroughly.
The cornbread did not come out as I expected. It was definitely not southern style cornbread. But it did the job of soaking the juices, so I give it so merit.
The brisket is flavorful, moist and fork tender. So tender that if you try to lift it up with just your fork, it might slip off or fall apart before it reaches your plate. Which is what happened to me. It's a good thing.
The pulled pork was a bit too sweet and too wet. The rub isn't savory and spicy enough.. perhaps it's tweaked to suit local palettes? but I thought you serve authentic Tex bbq? hmm....... oh also, I get that they're trying to avoid people ever calling out their meats as dry, but this was a bit too wet.. on the upside, there's more juices to wipe the cornbread with.
The links were the most meh. The beef links were good, but the lamb and pork were meh.
The letdown was the pork belly burnt ends for $12 / 100 grams. I know what burnt ends are supposed to look like... this did not look like that. On its own, as its own dish, ok fine it's meat, well smoked and bbq'd. But it was just not what I was expecting.
They sell American beer here, like Pabst Blue Ribbon and Blue Moon. So for those who want to try those.. you can...
