"Amsterdam's Canal Ring: A UNESCO World Heritage Site Beyond tulips, windmills, and weed, Amsterdam's global image is entwined with water. The Canal Ring (Grachtengordel) is made up of 165 fluid channels developed during the 17th-century Dutch Golden Age. In the ensuing years, the water network has supported maritime trade while evolving into a centerpiece of one of the world’s most recognizable urban landscapes. In 2013, on its 400th birthday, UNESCO added the Grachtengordel to its list of World Heritage sites. Today the Canal Ring is both a historic transportation system and a stunning backdrop for local festivals and celebrations. The canals, notably Prinsengracht, are packed with partygoers on annual festivals like King's Day (formerly Queen's Day), in April, as well as Gay Pride and Grachtenfestival in August. Canal cruises offer an excellent introduction to city sights and are a great way to see Amsterdam."

This cute boutique accommodation is located in one of the best areas of the center. Many great cafés, restaurants and trendy shops just walking distance. The view of the canal from the room's window is very relaxing and joyful...the room is spacious, the bed is comfortable, and management is very friendly.

My husband and I just spent 3 nights at this lovely apartment. Modern and chic, this studio apartment is on the first floor and has a lovely canal view from its charming bay window - where we could watch boats navigating the canal and the people on the street below. The Jordan neighborhood where the canal house is located is upscale and a true locals area. There is one flight of narrow, steep steps which was easy to navigate - owner, Jonathan, gave us a helping hand with our bags - in this Dutch typical canal house. We were delighted with the amenities that Jonathan was thoughtful to have available - some drinks, cookies, apples, a bottle of wine, Nespresso machine and nice shampoo and body wash. There were also umbrellas available for our use. The bed was super comfortable with nice bedding and fresh towels were provided once during our stay. Jonathan is a warm and welcoming host and accommodated storing our bags for us the morning we arrived and on the day of our departure. We will definitely stay here again if (when) we return. (the little cafe across the canal, on the corner on the right is the best place for breakfast - have the apple, bacon pancake - you will love it!) Thanks Jonathan!!

This place is oversold to say the least. We booked for 4 nights in the De Prins room - a tiny room on a second floor walk-up. Good thing we’re New Yorkers and are used to walk-ups, nonetheless the steps are small and narrow for my size 12 feet fiancé. There is no partition between the shower, sink and toilet. The room is fairly clean but very spartan, reminiscent of a college dorm if one is lucky enough to have his/her own room. Check-in is really late at 2pm and no one answers if you text to check in a bit earlier. This place would be perfect for college grads whose trips are funded by their parents and are looking to party. It is in a great location. If you have the money to stay here, you’re better off staying at an Ibis or somewhere that’s not directly on the canal. P.S. we came back from dinner and noticed a strong stench in our room, probably from the sewer in the bathroom. This is not ok.

Beautiful room to rent right on the canals. The owner was very kind and helpful and gave us many recommendations of places to visit and eat in Amsterdam. The smaller, hidden nature of the place made us feel like more of a local than a tourist in a large hotel. We enjoyed our stay here and would go back again!

I booked the second floor front room and I lucked out!! Fantastic view of the canal that allows you to sit by the window and watch Amsterdam pass by. The house is a typical Dutch house along the Prinsengracht, one of the main canals in the city, but has the typical notoriously steep stairs. But do not fret, Jonathan, the friendly inn keeper, was there to help with a warm smile amiable disposition.||The place is clean (despite the small size) with cute little touches like water, Nespresso, cookies and fruit..... All for free!!!!!!!!||I was not in the mood to go out so they recommended a fantastic Algerian take out place. Needless to say I stayed in and relaxed and took advantage of the well equip kitchen! I should come back and stay longer!!!

This apartment is a real find. Wonderful views onto one of the canal and a very well equipped apartment with everything you need. The bed was very comfortable. The host Jonathan was very helpful and kind. The location is excellent-only 15-20 minutes walk to the museums and galleries.

The owner Jonathan was very friendly and incredibly welcoming, generous, and helpful in advice on how to experience the city. The space was very clean and comfortable. This is a very quiet and beautiful part of Amsterdam, but also a short walk from many popular sights.
