We had the best time at the Deer Run! Jen and Harry are wonderful and they are going above and beyond. The food is outstanding! The breakfast was usually a wrap, burrito, or sandwich, with a side, a sweet treat, and a smoothie. There is also the option to eat lunch there. The bed and breakfast is pet friendly and our dogs got freshly made vegan treats every day. We loved everything about this place and we will be back.

What an amazing experience. Key deer everywhere, wonderful breakfasts included, and optional lunches for a reasonable fee. My wife and I had a wonderful time, and we highly recommend visiting Deer Run on the Atlantic. The hosts Jen and Harry were wonderful and accommodating. We brought our two small dogs and they had as much fun as we did.

Great location right on the water and South facing so you get both sunrise and sunset views from the property. Very quiet location with Key Deer running through the property. Harry and Jen are fantastic hosts and provide breakfast and lunch if you need it. It was a great base camp for exploring the lower Keys, especially Key West.

The vibe! The food! The view! The hosts! All so wonderful!!! We’ve stayed at lots of different vegan BnBs and this is hands-down the best! We love Jen and Harry and their cats! Jen’s cooking is delicious and so varied. We live in the NY with tons of vegan restaurants and her food is better than almost all of them! 💚

This place is super cool. My wife and i stayed here several years ago. I forgot to write a review. Owners were so nice. Food was good. Location is perfect. Close enough to key west for "big city" stuff. But far enough to enjoy a very florida keys experience. Key deer are the cutest. The young make a quiet meh noise. Biting nats will get ya in the morning and evening but thats island life! Quiet road to run and bike on. Water is undisturbed for snorkeling. Ospreys land on the trees on the property. Only a 10-15 minute drive to another island with a really nice beach. Big pine key has 3 pickleball courts as well, if you like to play. You should definitely rent a room here!

We love Deer Run on the Atlantic so much we actually got married there. Jen & Harry did a wonderful job helping us coordinate someone to marry us and a photographer. She even made us a cake! I think if I could cook vegan like Jen can I would 100% be vegan. The rooms are decorated in an environmentally thoughtful manner and the breakfast was sooo good. It’s a destination for those who want to enjoy what the Keys used to be like. Close enough to Marathon and Key West for day trips … a nice quiet place to stay away from the masses surrounded by beautiful scenery and Key deer.

So small and quaint! We had an ocean front room and it was just perfect! Jen and Harry were very nice and accommodating! Literally every evening we sat outside the key deer would come right up to us as the sun was going down. It was just perfect! We also use the kayaks and bikes they have on the property. We aren’t vegan but Jen is an excellent cook and we enjoyed the breakfast, the muffins were my favorite!!! We will definitely be back one day!

My wife and I celebrated our 13 year wedding anniversary at this lovely bed and breakfast. Although the place was completely booked we felt as if we were the only ones there. You randomly see deer throughout the day and they are very friendly. We had a great time kayaking as well as bike riding around the area. We are not vegan but the vegan breakfasts were delicious. Jens chocolate chip cookies to are to die for and we would probably book again just for the cookies that were in our room during check in. Deer run is just a few miles away from Bahia Honda which is definitely worth a visit. Key West was only a 30 minute drive from there too. Harry and Jen were excellent hosts and we look forward to going back one day.

Yelp
Loved our stay here! So clean and they are so welcoming! The food was amazing(seriously mini muffins, vegetable frittata, the best panini I've ever had), the view and downstairs was nice but the fact that we could bring our dog HoaGGie because they had a room that was pet friendly was AMAZING. I can't thank you guys enough, we can't wait to come back to visit!

Yelp
While the place is pretty and i support the concept of eco-friendly, the sleeping experience is awful. the house is soo old that you can hear every step from the room above. both days we were woken up at 5am with the loud steps of the inkeepeers. falling asleep was no easy task as we heard the loud steps until 1130pm. the loud noises made it for an awful sleeping experience. not sure if every room downstairs has the same issue but the room Eden is just attrocious and would not recommend it to anyone. the policies in the information book are so rigid that it does bot make you feel welcome, early checkout, cant spend the day there after checkout. Dont expect to be back here. Also meat lovers, this isnt a place for you and you will be made to feel awkward as we felt yesterday at breakfast.

Yelp
My wife and I just returned from a spectacular trip to Deer Run B&B. Situated off the main road DR was a quiet, private oasis. While we had access to many nearby activities (Bahia Honda State Park is not to be missed) our best moment we're simply relaxing at the inn. Our room was comfortable with nice personal touches and a lovely screened in porch ( with porch swing !). DR has a nice little beach area, not so much a swimming beach but beautiful with ample access to lounge chairs and kayaks. It was a special treat to have several deer wander up at various times during our stay....magical. As Eco conscious vegans we especially loved the the food!! Jen created some of the bets breakfasts I have ever had. Each meal started with a homemade vegan muffin and along the way we were grated to French toast, quiche, iced coffee smoothies and organic fruit galore ( and much, much more) Jen and Harry were great hosts and we enjoyed just chatting and charing experiences. They are really trailblazers and it was an a pleasure staying at an in with composting, recycling and other energy saving touches. If you are vegan, vegetarian or an open minded omni you should book your stay soon. I know I will be making plans for our return!

Yelp
Great location and nice hosts. The breakfasts are very good and filling. Note that this is a vegan establishment. It is fun to see the deer walking by your room or chair.

Yelp
My partner and I chose to celebrate our honeymoon at Deer Run. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. We stayed in the Eden room which opened to a sweet garden that grew many of the fruits and herbs we enjoyed in various breakfasts. Jen and Harry were gracious hosts and were always willing to give advice on where to go and what to do. Each morning, we enjoyed the alternating savory and sweet breakfasts, conversing with other guests, sipping coffee, listening to the wind in the palm fronds, and planning the day's events. Our days were filled with activities like kayaking off the property's private beach, relaxing in the salt-water pool, engaging in conversation with Angel the rescued bird, giving Peri the neighbor cat a few snuggles and scratches, and watching the tiny Key Deer relax and eat mangrove leaves. We rode bicycles, drove into Key West to party a bit, snorkeled, visited a Turtle Hospital, found the No Name Pub, and ate an incredible vegan dinner at Kaya Island Eats. Also, when they learned that we were on our honeymoon, Jen and Harry surprised us with a delicious vegan cake and a bottle of sparkling wine. It was exceptionally thoughtful and lovely. In our experience, it is so difficult to travel as a vegan. My partner and I have never been on a cruise, and until this point we had never been to a bed and breakfast - why pay the money when you can't enjoy the food? Finding Deer Run changed that reality for us. Not only were we able to partake in the breakfasts, the food was DELICIOUS. And I'm not just saying that because I am vegan. During our stay there were also non-vegan guests. They loved the food and environment so much that this was their third visit! Jen and Harry also made finding vegan food around town easy - something we had been worried about before our arrival. All in all, we had an incredible time. Our honeymoon at Deer Run far surpassed any expectation we had. If you are reading these posts and trying to make a decision about where to stay, stay here. Yelp can be a valuable tool. Often people want to make sure they'll be spending their money wisely. As two people on a very limited budget, we had absolutely no regrets about a single penny being spent here. It was wonderful, just wonderful. We can't wait to come back!

Yelp
This place was quite the treat! Secluded way from the hubbub of Key West, this is a little haven. We stayed in Heaven. It was a beautiful second floor room with a comfy bed and gorgeous views. Breakfast on the porch every morning was delicious and a wonderful chance to meet new people. The amenities were spectacular. A salt water pool, kayaks, hammocks, free park passes, and plenty of chairs to sit and drink coffee in. Unfortunately, we never met Jen, but Harry was so accommodating and friendly. We really loved it. It felt like home. We're already planning our next visit. For eco-conscious vegans, this was the perfect location.

Yelp
This was our first B&B experience along with our first vegan experience. Loved every minute of it! The Heaven room has wonderful views of the ocean/beach and is quite comfy. Don't be afraid of the vegan thing, it was wonderful. Jen & Harry are quite the host as was Angel. We talked to our fellow travelers that have stayed at many B&B's and they claim that this is one of the best. Perfect place for a couple to stay & relax, not so suited to the all night partiers. Take advantage of some of the freebies like the bikes for a nice ride or even take them to Key West to get around. The glass bottom kayak makes for an amazing trip on the water. Or just relax with a beer on the beach & enjoy the ocean & the deer. The only slight negative we found was the jacuzzi is naturally heated but doesn't go above 84 degrees or so, we would of preferred something in the high 90's. Being our 1st trip to the Keys we are glad we chose this place, some of the 'Nice' motels we found on the internet were in less than desirable locations. I wouldn't recommend staying in any of the Keys except for Big Pine or Key West.
