First - the negative. I attempted to contact this place several times after I booked the reservation, via both the company we booked through (Expedia), via their published phone number, and via their email address, to book an airport shuttle which is an option per the reservation details. None of my phone calls, emails, or messages were ever returned (even after the trip), and the official website noted on their contact page is currently offline. The email address noted on our reservation details only kicks back mail delivery failures. This honestly had me worried the hotel was a scam, as I've never had a hotel before where they are completely unreachable before you arrive. I taxied to the hotel (since I could not arrange any shuttle transport) fully unaware if the hotel even existed anymore.||However, once we got there, the experience was much more positive. The room was on the small side but clean. They provide water in the minifridge daily. The front desk was very friendly in person and happy to store our luggage safely, as we arrived a few hours prior to check-in. The elevators are small and sketchy; it barely fit my wife and I with our luggage, but ultimately we had no issues with it. If travelling as a larger group, I could see that being troublesome since the reception is all the way on the fifth floor. The building is in a somewhat quiet area so its a great place to sleep after a long day.||Rooms come with breakfast and coffee every morning, which we skipped most days but seemed perfectly fine. Location is great, walkable to a lot of good restaurants and sights. Rates are good for the location. The air conditioning was the best we had in Italy, all other places we booked restricted its use whereas Deko allows your room to actually get cool.||Overall, I would have been very happy with this hotel if they were able to be reached beforehand or even returned my messages.

We checked in for 4 nights.|The breakfast starts at 7 and since we had a tour booked early AM, we had informed the staff to help us with an early breakfast around 0650. When we woke up and used the shower, we realised that the entire drain was completely blocked. We rang the reception and a person came. He started declogging the shower and it took 20-30 minutes. Not only did we miss breakfast but we almost missed our tour. We had to roam for 4 hours in the sun without breakfast.|The night of day 3 the air conditioning stopped working and a person after several requests came to check. He spent 30-40 minutes and couldn’t fix the air conditioning, our neighbour had the exact same issue. He told us that nothing can be done. There are no fans or no support of any kind. Rome was extremely hot that day with temperatures between 25-36. The person was extremely rude and blunt. For the rest of the stay, the air conditioning barely worked and the remote was totally dysfunctional. After reporting it multiple times, no action was taken.|Eventually the manager of the hotel after a few emails back and forth, offered us a free taxi ride to the airport. It was surely not a pleasant experience or comfortable in anyway. |Mishaps like machines breaking down do happen but the rude behaviour is unacceptable. Shower drain is not a mishap and is a basic hygiene check before a room is given. Extremely disappointed with the entire experience.

The hotel was nice and in a very good location. I really liked the proximity to the Villa Borghese ( a large park). The hotel would not be perfect for everyone. It consists of reception area and breakfast area on the 5th floor of one side of the building and rooms on the 3rd floor of the other side. Both sides have elevators so you don't have to walk up and down the stairs (the floors are very far apart --- I counted 27 steps in each flight of stairs). Not much view from the windows and an slightly enhanced Italian breakfast.|The room was comfortable and sufficient but my impression was that it was slightly run down.|The staff were friendly and helpful.

Very nice stay. The room was unexpectedly large, very clean, and modern in style. The attached bathroom was also modern and had a nice shower. The hotel is located in a building with several floors dedicated to other things, however the hotel is on the 2nd floor. There is a breakfast in the am, but we didn't make it. The hotel is located in a very nice part of Rome and there are restaurants nearby.|

We booked the Suite, which was very spacious: living room, bathroom with tub, and bedroom with queen bed (or perhaps slightly larger). For the price, it was a tremendous amount of space (seems very difficult to find a room in Rome with even a single chair to sit in!). The suite faced an interior courtyard and was very quiet. The mattress and pillows were quite comfortable, on the firm side which I prefer. The AC/heating units in the living room and bedroom were quiet and functional (another review someplace complained that they were noisy, this was not our experience). Breakfast was better than I expected, and included coffee, yummy pastry, hard boiled eggs and yogurt, some cold meats and cheese. All of the staff were extremely friendly. The neighborhood was quiet, but with everything you need nearby (proper supermarket in the building, espresso bars and restaurants nearby). The location is about 30 minutes walking distance to many historical sites; we were happy to get our steps in, but returning for a mid-day pit stop was at times inconvenient.||A few things in the room were a bit run down, for example some of the furniture was past its prime (though still functional), and the bed linens were a little threadbare. Instead of an electronic key card, you had to carry around physical keys for the building, the room, and the room safe; maybe this is typical for a boutique hotel in Rome, but I especially would have preferred a safe with numeric code rather than worry about the key. As other reviews mention, entering the building is a bit confusing. One tip: when you arrive, go right and take the elevator to the 5th floor to check in—but have someone stay downstairs with the luggage, because the room is located on the other side of the building on the 2nd floor.

The location of the hotel is in one of the most cozy districts, full of embassies and some shops/restaurants. Also there is a taxi station right outside (no need to bother with apps). Everything is perfectly walkable, plenty of bus stops and metro. The staff was absolutely lovely and helpful, especially the lady who checked us in late in the night when we arrived. ||Breakfasts are much better than expected, they make you fresh coffee and you can have a pretty filling breakfast to start your day. Rooms are well equipped and also with AC, got all you need. They also pay attention to detail, for instance there was a mini fridge in our room and every time we came back it was filled with cold water which was very much appreciated. I felt really welcomed and I am pretty sure whenever I come back to Rome, we will book here again.

We got into Rome late and got a warm welcome from a staff member in this boutique hotel. It's a quirky place, but has loads of charm. Our suite was lovely and very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was simple continental fare, but did the trick for us. The hotel is brilliantly located within a short walk of the metro to visit the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's Basilica. We walked most of the time though, as many of the big tourist attractions are within 15/30 minutes on foot. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at Deko Rome and would highly recommend it.

We stayed on our way through Rome for one night. The rooms are very clean and the bed was fine and an adequate breakfast. Our room was very quiet. The location is ok if you need access to the main train terminal but not as convenient to historic sites. The only slightly odd thing was that there is no onsite staff at night and the door to the main corridor / stairwell of the building did not lock. If I had been travelling alone I might have felt uncomfortable coming home in the evening.

Yelp
THIS IS A GREAT HOTEL...!!! On another review site site, the gushing reviews say "Marco and Serena Rock!", "Nice hotel with awesome hosts!", etc. It's one of the top-rated hotels in all of Rome. We wholeheartedly agree... this is a GREAT hotel. Hotel Deko Rome is a small, nice 6 room guest house located on the Italian 2nd floor (what Americans would call 3rd floor) of a nondescript office building in central Rome, right next door to the U.S. Embassy. The lobby and dining area is small (remember, it's only 6 guest rooms), the cappuccino is fantastic, the breakfasts are really very nice. The rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable, bathrooms are spacious and updated, and everything is stylish and meticulously clean. BUT IT ISN'T THE ROOMS that makes this a fantastic hotel. It's the staff - Serena, Marco and the entire staff are fantastic. Just fantastic. Completely fantastic. Utterly fantastic. When we arrived, Serena spent 30 minutes sitting down with us, pointing out tourist "must do's" and great restaurant and bar recommendations on a big map of Rome. She highlighted everything. It was like having your own personal tour guide of Rome. She was truly wonderful. Marco, who arrived for the evening shift, was equally wonderful. Listen to their recommendations and guidance - they really know Rome, and really know what they're talking about... I've probably slept in 1,000+ hotels in my lifetime, and this was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Deko isn't fancy. But it's fantastically located, modestly priced, very clean and very comfortable, with an incredible staff. MY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION EVER...

Yelp
This as a wonderful place. Super friendly and if you don't know Rome, you will get fantastic recommendations. The location is great and close by taxes and buses. The rooms are simple but well equipped with items like slippers, free mini fridge and an iPad. Breakfast is good too. I will be back!

Yelp
If you go to Rome you must stay here. It is a 5 star experience. I chose to stay here over a hotel because I love the personal service and attention you get. The first day we arrived the host greeted us with a nice fresh glass of Prosecco. Then they made all of our reservations for the museums so that the only thing we needed to do was arrive. When we needed a cab it was no problem! Helped us get around the city and gave us great food recommendations. Every morning we were greeted with a cappuccino and breakfast. The rooms were always clean. It was our first time in Rome and our stay here made it even better!

Yelp
My husband and I have never stayed in a boutique hotel before, but we decided that for our first trip to Rome this would be an excellent idea. Deko Rome is a cute hotel with 6 rooms and a common area for breakfast. The rooms and bathrooms are very modern, clean, and great size for Rome. It is located in a very safe area of town and within walking distance to every sight you would want to see. More than the location and hotel decor, the owners are amazing. We would have been lost without them! They suggested restaurants, made reservations for us, greeted us every evening with presecco, and every morning with a delicious and filling breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel and if we get a chance to visit Rome again we would definitely stay here again.
