This restaurant in Wylie is big, clean, fast service and food well served and delicious, and absolutely 💯 recommended. Service is very inconsistent, sometimes is very good and sometimes like today 08/08/25 they never went to our table to check up on us to refill our drinks.

I've driven by this place for years and not stopped in. I wish I had tried it sooner. It's a great little spot, and easy to miss if you're not looking for it. It appears to be a club, but you don't have to be a club member to eat there. I order the chips and salsa and the chips were fresh, still warm and delicious. The salsa was excellent - not too hot, not too mild, full of flavor. You do have to pay for the chips and salsa, but they're worth it. I also ordered #27 - Two Shrimp Chipotle Tacos plate (ordered with corn tortillas). The tacos were fantastic - full of flavor. The sides were fine - nothing too exciting. I appreciate the way they cooked the cheese into the tacos which held everything together. I'm looking forward to returning and trying the other dishes, including the crawfish. The logistics here: You order at the counter and then sit. The food and drink are brought out to you. You pay when you're done with your meal at the counter. They have a bar, but that seems to be limited to club members. It's also worth noting that the best way to get back out onto 78 is to turn right immediately outside the restaurant and do a U-turn at the next left to get back to town.

Oh what a great surprise! Wonderful order at the club service and the meal is brought to the table. Super HOT outside 105 degrees this July 31st day.. but great A/C and atmosphere inside. The serving staff very nice! My shrimp salad delicious! Highly recommend you pop in soon!

I would have to say that Del Golfo is a local gem. I just happen to be in the area, and I'm so happy I decided to stop in for lunch. I ordered the Catfish platter and it was so good. Fresh, hot and delicious. I would highly recommend stopping by if your in the area, and want good sea food with great customer service.

Do not be intimidated by the exterior facade! The restaurant is super clean, and the AC was VERY COLD, which is perfect for the Texan summers! This is a counter service place where you order at the counter, and the food is brought out to you. You pay at the counter once you are done with your meal. The women at the counter were very nice! This place serves excellent seafood! The hush puppies were good, but didn’t have the soft, tender goodness I was expecting! I’d still order them again though because they had good flavor. The whole fried fish was great! I love the crispy-ness of the skin! The rice was very buttery, and well seasoned. the dish also came with fries and a side of salad! The restaurant wasn’t busy at 5 PM on a Sunday. Spanish music playing in the background, and good food! It was a great vibe! Felt like I was on vacation.

Google
The food was so good I had to stop eating and take a picture of it. I am not sure why, but I was not expecting so much flavor in my veggies and I loved the sauce they provided for the shrimp. I was pleasantly surprised.

Google
A good spot for fried catfish and shrimp. The inside was nice and clean and the service was good. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Once you are done you go back up to the counter to pay. The plates were large portions and they had either seafood or Mexican dishes. I will say that the catfish wasn't very seasoned but good. The reviews said to order the hushpuppies and we did. However, they were dense, not a lot of flavor and a little too greasy. Not sure if we caught them on an off day but we will go back to try their Mexican food.

Google
I had the 3 piece catfish lunch and I ordered a side of hush puppies. The fish was cooked ok but the seasoning was bland . Not any flavor. Definitely needs to change the batter for flavor. The hush puppies were small and not vary flavorful either . Kinda disappointed in this place . Service was good and the menu looked great .

Yelp
Heading down 78, and we saw this hole in the wall seafood place with good ratings on Yelp. Do not be intimidated by the exterior facade! The restaurant is super clean, and the AC was VERY COLD! Yelp
Del Golfo consistently has the best fried oysters around. Their service is fast and friendly.

Yelp
Had lunch on a day I wasn't feeling the best. Ordered The Del Golfo seafood soup. Wow!! This would also be perfect for a hangover. Also had the Shrimp Cocktail. So good! Coming back soon. Forgot to capture photos. Waitress was very friendly and the atmosphere made me feel like I was on vacation. Excellent service!

Yelp
Don't judge a book by its cover. We were pleasantly surprised by this diamond in the rough. The food and service were great at Del Golfo. My son really enjoyed his catfish (not pictured) and my daughter loved her triple layer cheese quesadilla (not pictured). My wife and I enjoyed the Shrimp Tostada and Ceviche. Worth a stop. Friendly staff and thoughtful owner checked in at table.

Yelp
Staff is friendly, service is great, and food is fantastic! I could go on an on about this place. They just nail it.

Yelp
You would never guess what a clean restaurant this is. Food is very good. It is a Mexican seafood place. Guacamole is awesome. Fried shrimp are very tasty. Would come back for the margaritas also Don't judge from the outside!

Yelp
This is always our go-to place after leaving Lavon Lake. Something about being in the water on a hot day just makes you want seafood! I had the Garlic Tilapia the first time, which I highly recommend. It was delicious. I also had the fried catfish filet and shrimp, that was good also. Very nice crisp on both. We were also served several sides of tartar sauce with our meals (very good stuff!). And if you're looking for some cold brewskis, this place also has that. Bud Light, modelo, corona ...all the favorite brands in a cold glass bottle. They usually have a game on one of the tvs and some other programs on the other two. Good ambiance here. The service has been good both times. They come around to your table and ask if you need anything and they've been so polite also. The only thing we tried that wasn't that great was the taquitos. The pork was unseasoned and it came out in chunks when trying to bite it. (Should maybe be grinded or pulled apart better). We'll be back again soon, I'm sure!

Yelp
By looking at this place, you would pass it by. But I'm glad we didn't. The service was great . The food was very yummy. The server check on us many times to make sure everything was good.

Patricia R.

Yelp
We are always pleased with the portion sizes and taste , the shrimp cocktail , fried shrimp and catfish are hot and delicious!

Sarah S.

Yelp
It's a little expensive especially if you are wanting a seafood boil or large meal, but nothing there is ever lacking in flavor. If you like seafood this place is worth the visit
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, great service. The salsa is awesome it's made fresh and you can tell we will be returning.

Yelp
Camping nearby, we were attracted by the Christmas lights and the thought of some good Mexican seafood. Del Golfo did not disappoint. Ok, you do order at the counter. And yes, the food is served on melamine. I would point out that the same is true of every good seafood shack. The important thing is the food. My catfish and shrimp were excellent! Great cornbread batter, cooked perfectly, fresh and hot. Good hand cut French fries and home made tartar sauce. Very attentive service! We will go again.

Sherry O.

Yelp
Lunch isn't crowded. Great service. Catfish basket good Would like to try evening dinner Great space and many food selections

James M.

Yelp
Great food and everything is always cooked when you order. Don't miss the fresh fried chips with hot sauce.

Yelp
Great crispy wings! Yummy flautas, very meaty and served with fresh avacado. The people are really nice too!

Yelp
Let me say this place is off to a great start. Clean, friendly atmosphere, and the parking lot stays busy. We ordered the Vuelve a la Vida, which is a cold, large glass, filled with a huge assortment of seafood with a tomato base. Very flavorful and filling. The Ceviche tostada was a nice Ceviche atop thick tortilla chips. The Fish and Vegetable soup was savory. I gave four stars because there are a few minor, but important details they should improve. We received plastic spoons, small ones. This was a disappointment. We requested metal spoons and they brought them to us. There is no background music, so one can hear every conversation and screaming kids are amplified. Overall Del Golfo is off to a strong start. They really decorated the inside and outside nicely and one can tell the staff is really engaged with the customers. The menu is straightforward.

Tessa S.

Yelp
Just came to refute my husbands (tunedclawster) 4 stars. He's used to Tex-mex... the flautas were exactly what you'd expect from an actual Mexican restaurant. Great spot, we love it! Food is fresh and tasty, and the beer is cold!

Yelp
We have driven by this place for years and finally stopped in for dinner. I guess we were expecting a full service sit down restaurant. I had a half dozen oysters and some ceviche. Both were good. My wife was not thrilled with her shrimp. Maybe we should give it another try now that we know the layout?

Ron A.

Yelp
I don't know if they lost thier chef or what, but quality has dropped significantly. I had the cold seafood cocktail. The shrimp and octopus were so overcooked, they were hard and rubbery. The sauce was good, but the seafood had been way overdone. We also had the fried catfish fillets which were also overcooked to the point that the cornmeal batter was very dark, almost burnt. The restaurant was not busy while we were there. Maybe slow down or buy a new kitchen timer?

Yelp
Since my last review, I have been back. Catfish has gotten better, so I'm giving another 1.5 stars. I give this place 3.5 stars. Would give 4 stars if they would include a couple of hush puppies with their baskets.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Reminds me of being back in Cozumel They really do the seafood good Oysters - good Horseradish - great Talapia w/ chipotle : Sauce is hot! Beautifully cooked Del Golfo Soup : Lots of good seafood : shrimp oyster tilapia octopus Excellent light broth Not overly spicy Good vegetables

Yelp
I am usually a pretty hard critic; however, this place deserves excellent reviews and accolades. It is immaculate inside, which was entirely unexpected from outside. The staff is amicable and highly knowledgeable about their menu items. They make a fantastic margarita to imbibe with the splendidly prepared seafood. I give the service five stars, but more importantly, I give the food the same five ratings. Give this place a try, and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I thought the food and service was good. I love Mexican seafood. We had oysters, shrimp cocktail, guacamole and chips, shrimp tacos, chicken tenders, and a michelada for $55. Super affordable and good. Will be back!

Yelp
Okay we drive by this place for a year and never even thought about going in ... actually we thought it might be a casino place like a bar or something lol but my friend tried it then told me it was good so we went and OMG it was actually really nice a the food is good too ! We have been back several times and it is consistently been good food!! Oysters are recommended!!

Yelp
Good service, friendly staff, casual atmosphere. Food was tasty and hot. Pricing was average.

Yelp
Ok let's start with why it's not a better rating. First let me say, it's a pretty good little restaurant that needs to tweak a few things to be a bad ass fish eatery. Silver ware. They brought my knife and fork on top of my food. What? Who does that? Next time , have silver ware on the table...not in my food. Also, bring out the proper fork for crab legs...a crab fork, you know the tiny ones. Ok, so my gal and I wanted seafood and to be honest I was hesitant to try this place because of the location. It's off highway 78 in an old Burger Island restaurant that was abandoned for a few years. Just not appealing to me, but anyways, the favorable reviews changed my mind. I'm glad we stopped in. I had a shrimp cocktail, meh...it was less than great. Served in a margarita glass, the sauce was really like a soup...I like a thicker cocktail sauce. I asked for spicey and it was anything but that. It was terribly bland. I would suggest using larger shrimp too, mind had about 25000 little shrimps. My gal ordered a seafood gumbo and suggested that it was very oily, but good. We both ordered the salmon fillet....it was amazing. Seriously. The best Salmon filet I have had in a very long time. Cooked to perfection and fresh. Now the sides...minute rice and an over abundance of veggies...they were good though, at least the veggies were...the rice..well thank you Uncle Ben's. Oh, we also had a dozen oysters and they were outstanding!!! Bravo! I have had oyesters at high end restaurants that were less amazing. Great job! And lately, we had a lb of crab legs...meh. over cooked and way to much cayenne pepper sprinkled on them. Please relax Mr. Powder sprinkler...you're too cayenne happy. Anyways, the ambience is nice, the service was great and price was amazing 60 bucks for everything, and we went all in. If they fix these little things, we will be back for sure. I suggest giving them a shot..they are a new establishment and deserve a chance to get better. =)

Yelp
Only place in Texas serving both Maryland crab cakes and Mexican crab cakes if you order a day in advance. Not on their menu but should be.

Betty T.

Yelp
The seafood is good, fresh, and well seasoned. A great place for Sunday lunch or dinner.

Yelp
We tried Del Golfo tonight for the first time and really enjoyed it. The catfish is amazing. It is very fresh and perfectly cooked. We are so pleased to have a delicious seafood place so close to home. The waitstaff is very sweet and knowledgeable about the menu as well. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent fried catfish great shrimp and it's close to home. Hard to find good fish these days but it lives here at Del Golfo. Place is large and clean and the a/c works good.
google avatar

Blake E.

Yelp
Just like it was in Garland. She had the crab legs(too much work for too little reward in my opinion) and I had the ceviche salad. They brought her an extra one because they said the others were a bit small. Really good food!

Yelp
I love this place. A little gem! Nice owners. Food is always fresh! We have been here several times. If you like seafood, this is a MUST try. You will not be disappointed!!

Yelp
We have passed by this place many times going back and forth from Rockwall to Wylie and decided to try it yesterday. All I can say is, wow! We wish we would have tried it sooner! My husband had the Del Golfo soup and man, I was so jealous! It honestly tastes like the ocean and so fresh! I had the oysters and shrimp. The oysters were fresh and tasted just like the kind we got when we were living by the coast. I highly recommend this restaurant and so does my husband. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I have driven past here a ton of times but never stopped. The staff was very accommodating and extremely polite. The shrimp ranchero was incredible and fresh. Nice portion size and very reasonable .

Yelp
Always receive tremendous service and have enjoyed everything we have tried here...especially the grilled salmon. It is a must-have!

Yelp
I had to stop here because the food I picked up at the Flying Fish was a joke. This place made up for it!! Decent portions, well seasoned food!! The ceviche salad was amazing! This place is very clean and extremely friendly!! Great save Del Golfo!!
google avatar

Joey M.

Yelp
We have eaten here many times before and this is the first time the food was bad. The catfish was very breaded and the fries tasted they were fried with the carfish. Afterwards giving a bad aftertaste and stomach starting to boil.
google avatar

Tami G.

Yelp
I ordered catfish and Mexican gumbo. The waitress brought chips and salsa. To my surprise, the salsa literally tasted watered down, with NO flavor. I have never had salsa like that. So I put salt and some Tabasco in it, and this transformed the salsa, giving it flavor. My catfish was overcooked, which made it tough. I couldn't eat it all, and I was hungry. The breading on the catfish kept falling off. Overall, the gumbo was ok. There was a lot of shrimp in the gumbo to my surprise. Of course, this isn't your basic southern flavored gumbo and I already knew this. I just wanted to try it. Not very good, but not very bad either. The waitress was thorough and polite. The restaurant was nice looking and the atmosphere was welcoming. Just not a decent meal overall. By the way, the Fish Shack in Plano has the best tasting catfish. It's cooked perfectly because it melts in your mouth. Anyway, I may come back to Del Golfo and try the crab legs.

Yelp
Finally an awesome seafood restaurant in Wylie! The catfish was perfect. The del golfo boiled platter for 2 was the perfect amount. Overall fantastic experience!
google avatar

Arlene V.

Yelp
First time here and it was really good I had the Del Golfo soup and the garlic shrimp and I'll definitely be back. The portions were big and the service was good.
google avatar

Yelp
The food wasn't fresh, right down stale. How do you mess up boiled potatoes and corn? . Gloomy atmosphere, poor quality food. Even the crackers were stale.
google avatar

Ron A.

Yelp
Food was fresh and delicious, had the ceviche salad and shrimp cocktail. Also the catfish was tender and crispy. Will be back!
google avatar

Carmen P.

Yelp
We went for Dinner last night, in hopes to find a good seafood option. It is close to our house, so we decided to give it a try. It was awesome, those who know Mexican seafood will appreciate this place. The Ceviche was amazing! The Shrimp cocktail was good also. My hubby had the catfish and he loved it. My favorite was definitely the Ceviche it's a must try!
google avatar

Carl R.

Yelp
This place is fantastic....Great seafood. Nice to have a good seafood restaurant in Wylie... Catfish is cooked perfectly...

William J.

Yelp
Great food! Reminds me of Big Shucks in Dallas. The chips and salsa are outstanding and taste so fresh. The wings were great! The catfish fillets were cooked to perfection and the fried shrimp were exactly as expected. The shrimp cocktail was also excellent. So happy to have this place in Wylie. The waitress was not super attentive which is why i give 4/5. But the manager more than made up for her. This will be our new spot.
google avatar

Mario G.

Yelp
I've eaten at Del Gulfo since I lived in Garland at the Location there. Very excited to have one in Wylie now , closer to me. The food , service , and atmosphere are great. I love the catfish , but my go to is the Tostada de Ceviche! They also have great wings when I'm not in the mood for Seafood.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
With the rating this place has my husband and I where very excited to try it. However it is not what we expected. We tried the catfish, shrimp, oysters, and son had the chicken nuggets. Nothing had it's own flavor and bland is an understatement....everything seemed to be breaded in the same thing. We did try the hushpuppies and that was the only thing with any flavor. We also had an issues getting our order all at once, they served some but took longer to get my son's chicken nuggets. Then I watched a table that was seated after us get a plate of shrimp and we had to stare down a waitress to get ours. The shrimp was not cleaned and all I tasted was poop. We spent $60 and was for sure not worth it.
